Evidence of submerged paleoshorelines on tectonically stable continental shelves is represented by relict coastal depositional features that formed during periods of lower sea level. This study investigates two paleoshoreline features that extend 70?km from the Barwon Bank along the southeast Fraser Shelf, off eastern Australia. They are defined by well-lithified, mixed carbonate-siliciclastic deposits now at water depths of 60?m and between 80 and 100?m, located approximately 40?km seaward of the modern shoreline. High-resolution multibeam bathymetry data show geomorphic features that we interpret as paleodunes in the case of the 60?m feature, and paleobarriers in the case of the 80–100?m feature. Sub-bottom profiles also show evidence of prograded beach foresets and paleochannels as components of the Barwon Bank, which is a low and elongate bank that rises about 30?m above the surrounding shelf to a depth of 60?m. Carbonate cements in the rocks forming the paleoshoreline features reveal diagenetic influence of meteoric waters, suggesting that subaerial processes contributed to the formation and preservation of both features. Radiocarbon dating of bioclastic grains (coralline algae, benthic forams) yields an age range between 22.8 and 20.4?ka for the paleobarrier, and an age of 17.3?ka for the paleodune. The morphology of the submerged paleodunes is analogous to modern parabolic dunes on nearby Fraser and Moreton islands. The position and morphology of the paleodunes provide proxy information about the climate history of Australia during the late Quaternary, as these dunes are a likely consequence of the general continent-wide aridity during the Last Glacial Maximum. The preservation of the eolian dunes during marine transgression, despite their direct exposure to coastal hydrodynamic processes, suggests that the dunes were armoured, stabilised and lithified during the glacial lowstand, prior to drowning.  相似文献

In recent decades, the amount of reactive nitrogen (N) has rapidly increased. While the reactive N, mainly chemical N fertilizers, meet food and economic development demands, it has also caused many environmental problems. Now, there are the triple challenges of food security, environmental degradation and climate change for the world due to the rapid increase of reactive N. Most of reactive N has been input to soil firstly, which would export to hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere after transformed as different N forms through various N transformation processes. Thus, soil N transformations play very important role in regulating the fate of soil N. In this article, we review the methods determining the rates of soil N transformations, and clarify the role of soil gross N transformations to regulating soil N dynamics and its mechanisms. Our results suggest that the coupling of soil N transformation with climate and plant species-specific N preferences play important role in optimize N use efficiencies in agricultural production. However, scientists usually just qualitatively discuss the feedbacks and its mechanisms between plants and soil N transformations, due to the limitation of research methods. The quantitative investigation on the effects of these feedbacks on soil gross N transformations is of important significances to understand the feedback and its mechanisms between plants and soil N transformations, to optimize N fertilization, and to make N pollution control countermeasures and so on.  相似文献

随着纳米科技的快速发展,纳米材料的种类和数量呈指数增长。人工纳米材料不可避免地进入水环境并发生复杂的环境行为,可能在水中分散悬浮,也可能发生团聚和沉降,从而影响其迁移、转化和归趋。本文综述了近年来有关人工合成纳米材料在水环境中聚沉行为的研究进展,分析了影响纳米材料团聚与沉降的两个主要因素:自身理化性质(材料形态、颗粒尺寸、化学组成、晶体结构、表面修饰等)和水环境要素(pH、离子种类和离子强度、天然有机质等)及相应的作用机理,剖析了当前研究中存在的问题,指出有关纳米材料与无机胶体等物质间的异团聚、各环境要素间的交互作用、以及纳米材料在接近自然环境的低浓度(<1mg/L)条件下的聚沉行为研究仍需进一步完善。  相似文献

Abstract. Four sampling stations with relatively similar hard-bottom substrates were investigated to determine if there were differences between the sublittoral invertebrates near the Nervión River mouth (N. Spain) and those closer to the open sea, and if faunal differences could be attributed to the impact of estuarine sedimentation. Four 100 m long transects were surveyed using photographic and quadrat techniques, yielding data on percentage cover of all invertebrates from 136 visual inventories. Data were analysed to determine whether any community response to sedimentation was evident. Ordination (multidimensional scaling) and classification (group-average clustering) based on B ray -C urtis dissimilarity measures separated the stations at three levels based on the different faunal assemblages. The analysis suggests the presence of a gradient along the estuary discharge, mainly affecting the east side of the outer part of Bilbao harbour, since the estuarine plume flows to the east. The influence can be expressed in terms of retrogression of the variety of species and disappearance of the algal fraction, which is progressively replaced by an animal assemblage of tolerant and opportunistic suspension feeders. Several 'indicator' species were identified on the basis of strong density differences between sites; matrix correlations presented here were found to produce complementary and consistent results. The role of estuarine sedimentation disturbance as the main factor controlling subtidal assemblages in outer Bilbao harbour is discussed.  相似文献

The Huanghe (Yellow) River, with annual sediment discharge about 11 ×108tons, contributes about 17% of the fluvial sediment discharge of world's 21 major rivers to the ocean because its middle reaches flow across the great Loess Plateau of China. Sediment discharge of the Huanghe River has a widespread and profound effect on sedimentation of the sea. The remarkable shift of its outlet in 1128-1855 A.D. to the South Yellow Sea formed a large subaqueous delta and provided the substrate for an extensive submarine ridge field.The shift of its outlet in the modern delta every 10 years is the main reason why with an extremely heavy sediment input and a micro- tidal environment, the Huanghe River has not succeeded in building a birdfoot delta like the Mississippi. The Huanghe River has consistently brought heavy sediment input to sea at least since 0.7 myr.B.P. The SW Baltic Sea occupies an area where crustal-scale regional tectonic zones of different age merge and overlap, creating a complex tectonic pattern. This pattern influenced the evolution of the Mesozoic sedimentary basin in this area. We present an interpretation of new high-resolution seismic data from the SW Baltic Sea which provided new information both on modes of the Late Cretaceous inversion of this part of the Danish–Polish Mesozoic basin system as well as on relationship between tectonic processes and syn-tectonic depositional systems. Within the Bornholm–Dar owo Fault Zone, located between the Koszalin Fault and Christiansø Block, both strike-slip and reverse faulting took place during the inversion-related activity. The faulting was related to reactivation of extensional pre-Permian fault system. Syn-tectonic sedimentary features include a prominent, generally S- and SE-directed, progradational depositional system with the major source area provided by uplifted basement blocks, in particular by the Bornholm Block. Sediment progradation was enhanced by downfaulting along a strike-slip fault zone and related expansion of accommodation space. Closer to the Christiansø Block, some syn-tectonic deposition also took place and resulted in subtle thickness changes within the hinge zones of inversion-related growth folds. Lack of significant sediment supply from the inverted and uplifted offshore part of the Mid-Polish Trough suggests that in this area NW–SE-located marginal trough parallel to the inversion axis of the Mid-Polish Trough did not form, and that uplifted Bornholm Block played by far more prominent role for development of syn-inversion depositional successions.  相似文献

 Impacts on nearshore sedimentation arising from potential sea level change of the magnitude predicted in Intergovernmental Panel on Climatic Change scenarios associated with global warming are reviewed. For sandy duned coasts, the obvious sedimentation impacts include potential erosion of coastal dunes with implied deposition of the eroded material in the nearshore, possible deepening of embayments, and flooding of wetlands. For the sandy coasts a number of two-dimensional models are available for predicting shoreline change, but there are significant difficulties in applying Bruun-type models for dune erosion and assessment of sediment redistribution over the inner shelf, and for predicting the amount of shoreline retreat for a given rate of sea level rise. If the beach profile contains excessive sand relative to its equilibrium profile, sensu Dean (1991), then shoreline retreat may not occur upon sea level rise. From the evidence of Kiel Bay, at least in these semi-enclosed basin types, it is during major transgressions that maximum deposition in adjacent basins occurs, due to the sea eroding weakly consolidated and weathered surface regolith. But at the same time climatic patterns were re-adjusting and probably contributed to maximum deposition in adjacent shelf and basins below wave base. 鄂尔多斯盆地煤的Rock Eval分析结果表明,在肥煤—焦煤阶段,S1+S2达最大值,随后生烃潜力减弱。煤的Py GC分析及热模拟成气实验结果证实煤成气具有3个生气高峰,分别相应于Ro,m05%~07%、10%~14%及25%,表明煤成气具多阶段性的特点。这一规律性的认识有助于煤成气的勘探和开发。同时,随煤级增高,煤成烃特征亦发生有规律的变化:异构烃减少,正构烃增加;类异戊二烯烷烃分布亦存在多变性或多阶段的演化特点;苯系化合物具波动性变化特征。  相似文献

本文在黄河为例,动用数理统计方法,研究了河流流域系统中产水产沙子系统与河道沉积子系统之间的关系,得到了描述这种耦合关系的多元回归模型。运用这一模型,可以定量回答来自上中游不同来源区的泥沙,各有多大比例淤在下游河道中的问题。  相似文献
