Rhodoliths are important marine carbonate producers that provide habitat for several marine organisms, and are threatened by ongoing global climate change. Meter‐sized sedimentary patches rich in living rhodoliths, interspersed among corals, were discovered in the back reef of Ras Ghamila lagoon, Southern Sinai, at less than 1 m water depth. In this shallow and relatively sheltered subtropical environment, rhodoliths were found to be monospecific or oligospecific, spheroidal, 3.5 to 9.4 cm in maximum diameter, with warty/lumpy or fruticose (protuberance degree IV) growth forms, and corresponded to the unattached branches or praline type. They grew in bright light under seasonal, moderate, wind‐driven water motion. The dominant rhodolith‐forming species recorded were: Lithophyllum kotschyanum, Porolithon onkodes, Hydrolithon sp. and three species of Neogoniolithon: Neogoniolithon fosliei, Neogoniolithon brassica‐florida, and an undescribed species noted in the text as Neogoniolithon sp. A total of 38 Alizarin‐stained rhodoliths was released in the field and collected after 1 year. They showed different banding patterns (alternating long and short cells) that revealed seasonal growth, with the lowest rates occurring in winter for all species, and an additional summer growth slackening in Neogoniolithon fosliei. Lithophyllum kotschyanum presented evidence of occasional growth cessation, possibly due to temporary burial. The observed annual growth rate of rhodoliths was unrelated to their size. The mean accretion rates were 1.08 mm · year?1 in L. kotschyanum, 0.75 mm · year?1 in P. onkodes, 0.49 mm · year?1 in Hydrolithon sp., 0.85 mm mm · year?1 in N. fosliei, 0.63 mm · year?1 in N. brassica‐florida and 0.57 mm · year?1 in Neogoniolithon sp. The annual mean marginal elongation rate for these taxa was respectively 8.74, 13.92, 3.59, 9.40 and 9.25 mm · year?1, with the exception of Neogoniolithon sp., for which this parameter was not recorded. Maximum marginal elongation occurred in P. onkodes pointing out its greater ability as a space competitor in comparison with the other rhodolith species. The highest accretion rate and common presence of L. kotschyanum indicate its importance as carbonate producer in tropical reef.  相似文献

It is known that when an unanchored rigid body is placed on a horizontal base which oscillates horizontally, it may undergo one of four modes of motion: rest, slide, slide–rock and rock. Initiation of a rigid body into these modes depends on the slenderness ratio of the body, the coefficient of friction between the body and the base and the acceleration of the base. In this study, the coefficient of friction and the base acceleration are considered random. For specific probability distributions of the coefficient of friction and the peak base acceleration, and for various values of the mean and standard deviation of the two random variables, the probabilities of occurrence of these modes of motion are obtained for a body of given slenderness ratio. In this paper, authors obtain the spectral peaks of the earth free oscillation and check all normal modes from 0S0 to 0S48 accurately, with the Fourier analysis and the maximum entropy spectrum method dealing jointly with six groups of the observational residual data from five international superconducting gravimeter stations. By comparing the observational results in this paper with three former groups of observations or models, authors notice an extra discrepancy between two observational 0S2 modes excited separately by Peru earthquake and Alaska earthquake, which probably mirrors the anisotropy of the Earth’s inner core. The analysis on the splitting 1S2 mode shows that the asymmetric factor of rotationwise spectral splitting is possible to be different from that of anti-rotationwise spectral splitting.  相似文献

常规共中心点抽道集叠加方法是以水平观测面,水平反射界面、均匀介质为条件,当前提条件不能完全具备时,会带来两个方面的误差,其一是CMP道集整体离散误差,其二是CMP道集内部各道之间的离散误差.通过建立相应数学模型并进行运算分析,界定了误差(离散量)的大小范围及分布规律:离散量与观测面反射界面之间的夹角、观测面高程、反射界面倾角及同道集炮检距等相关,其变化值越大,离散距离越大;相反离散距离会随观测面与反射点空间距离的增大而变小;另外介质波速越小,其垂直离散距离越大;中心点自激自收其离散量为0.对于CMP道集中诸道△t0.离散量常存在大于目的层反射波T/4的现象;炮距越大、观测界面倾角越大、介质波速越小,其△t0离散值越大,其中△t0离散值与炮检距呈非线性关系;相反反射界面埋深越大,其△t0离散越小.根据离散量对资料影响程度的分析,指出了目前共中心点抽道集叠加方法存在着局限性.  相似文献

南海西部油田的北部湾盆地储层段地质情况复杂,夹层多,泥岩极易水化,钻井液体系维护难度大,难以兼顾井壁稳定与储层保护。以涠洲6-9/6-10油田为例,介绍了北部湾盆地储层段的地质概况和钻井液技术难点;介绍了研发的一种新型无固相有机盐防塌钻井液体系及其实验评价结果。该钻井液体系既有效解决了北部湾盆地复杂储层段砂泥岩互层井壁失稳的问题,又防止了储层污染,还降低了井下复杂情况的发生率。该技术为北部湾盆地的石油勘探开发提供了强有力的技术保障。  相似文献

Absolutely calibrated in-situ measurements of tropospheric hydroxyl radicals, formaldehyde, sulfur dioxide, and naphthalene (C10H8) were performed by long-path laser absorption spectroscopy during the field campaign POPCORN. The absorption light path was folded into an open optical multiple reflection cell with a mirror separation of 38.5 m. Using a light path length of 1848 m and an integration time of 200 s, the average 1-detection limits of OH, HCHO, SO2 and C10H8 during POPCORN were 8.7 · 105 cm–3, 8.3 · 109 cm–3, 2.4 · 109 cm–3, 1.5 · 108 cm–3, respectively. In total, 392 identifications of OH in air spectra were made in a rural environment between August 5 and August 23, 1994. We present and discuss OH absorption spectra and diurnal OH concentration profiles of three days which are representative for measurements under different pollution conditions during POPCORN. The observed maximum and median OH radical concentrations are 1.3 · 107 OH/cm3 and 4.0 · 106 OH/cm3, respectively. The measured diurnal variation of the OH concentration shows a good correlation with the primary formation reaction of OH radicals which is the photolysis of ambient ozone. Deviations from this correlation in the morning and evening hours, when the OH concentration is higher than expected from the ozone photolysis, demonstrate the importance of other photochemical HOx production pathways during POPCORN.  相似文献

We derive asymptotic formulae for the toroidal and spheroidal eigenfrequencies of a SNREI earth model with two discontinuities, by considering the constructive interference of propagating SH and P-SV body waves. For a model with a smooth solid inner core, fluid outer core and mantle, there are four SH and 10 P-SV ray parameters regimes, each of which must be examined separately. The asymptotic eigenfrequency equations in each of these regimes depend only on the intercept times of the propagating wave types and the reflection and transmission coefficients of the waves at the free surface and the two discontinuities. If the classical geometrical plane-wave reflection and transmission coefficients are used, the final eigenfrequency equations are all real. In general, the asymptotic eigenfrequencies agree extremely well with the exact numerical eigenfrequencies; to illustrate this, we present comparisons for a crustless version of earth model 1066A.  相似文献

Free vibration of soils happens frequently during some large earthquakes, perhaps seeming like a paradox. This happens because the energy released from seismic sources in some cases is not stationary in time, allowing relaxation intervals in between without important seismic wave arrivals in which free soil vibration happens. Two techniques to estimate the natural period of the free vibration from accelerograms are presented: autocorrelograms and Fourier spectra. Both techniques sometimes allow measuring higher mode frequencies of the soil for the three first modes as well as modal damping. Free vibration modal periods satisfy the classic 1D equation S-wave theory. The presence of free vibrations corresponds to shear wave soil energy radiation episodes rather than to energy amplification of incoming stationary seismic shear waves suggested by the dynamic soil amplification. These results explain the discrepancies observed between the theoretical soil dynamic amplification and the accelerographic measurement. Observation of free vibration of soils is not always possible, it depends on the duration of the time windows without important seismic waves arrivals compared to the natural period and damping of the soil.  相似文献
