Expansive soils swell on absorbing water and shrink on evaporation thereof. Because of this alternate swelling and shrinkage, civil engineering structures founded in them are severely damaged. For counteracting the problems of expansive soils, different innovative techniques were suggested. Stabilization of expansive clays with various additives has also met with considerable success. This paper presents, by comparison, the effect of lime and fly ash on free swell index (FSI), swell potential, swelling pressure, coefficient of consolidation, compression index, secondary consolidation characteristics and shear strength. Lime content (weight of lime/weight of dry soil) was varied as 0%, 2%, 4%?and 6%?and fly ash content (weight of fly ash/weight of dry soil) as 0%, 10%?and 20%. A fly ash content of 20%?showed significant reduction in swell potential, swelling pressure, compression index and secondary consolidation characteristics and resulted in increase in maximum dry density and shear strength. Swell potential and swelling pressure decreased with increase in lime content also. Further, consolidation characteristics improved. Compaction characteristics and unconfined compression strength improved at 4%?lime and reduced at 6%?lime.  相似文献

Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used to estimate vertical ground surface movement when soils expand and contract due to changes in soil moisture content caused by changing climate conditions. Several counterpropagation ANN test cases were investigated to map climate data (i.e. temperature and rainfall) to vertical ground surface movement at field sites in Texas and Australia. Three of the four ANN test cases use a historical time series of climate data to forecast ground surface elevation relative to a specified datum. The fourth ANN test case predicts the rate of ground surface movement, and requires post‐processing of the predicted rates to calculate ground surface elevation relative to a specified datum. The counterpropagation network has demonstrated a successful mapping of temperature and rainfall data to vertical ground surface movement at a field site when it is trained with a subset of data from the same field site (test cases 1 and 2). The results of training an ANN on one field site and testing it on another field site (test cases 3 and 4) demonstrate the ability of the ANN to capture trends in vertical ground surface movement. When compared with the predictions from a physics‐based method (shrink test‐water content method) that requires measurements/estimates of changes in soil water content, the ANN‐based predictions (based on climatic changes) captured the trends in the field measurements of shrinking–swelling soil surface movements equally well. 以XRF分析岩盐,需解决标准物质缺乏和Cl在分析过程中的损失问题,选择合适的前处理方法以保证结果重现性。经实验发现用于粉末压片法的人工标准物质中氯化钠、硫酸钙等组分经X射线照射后呈现向样片表面扩散的趋势,其中氯化钠进一步分解,难以建立稳定的工作曲线;熔融制样则不存在这一问题,具备定量基础。本文选择熔融制样作为前处理方法,将光谱纯盐类、氧化物与土壤、水系沉积物国家标准物质以不同比例混合,配制人工标准物质建立工作曲线。熔融制样条件为:取样量0.6000 g,四硼酸锂+偏硼酸锂(12:22)混合熔剂10.000 g,熔融温度1000℃,预熔时间300 s,熔样时间300 s,静置时间30 s,所得样片平整通透,因样品中所含Cl具有脱模效果无需补充脱模剂。本方法测定主量元素的精密度(RSD)均小于1.5%,与经典方法相比减少了分析时间与试剂消耗,可作为岩盐主量成分分析的备选方法。  相似文献

Granular pile-anchor (GPA) technique has been found to be an innovative foundation technique for expansive clays posing the dual problem of swelling and shrinkage. Swelling occurs during absorption of water and shrinkage during evaporation of water. Generally, in field expansive clay beds, swelling takes place during rainy seasons and shrinkage during summers. GPA is a recent innovative foundation technique devised to ameliorate the dual swell-shrink problem of structures founded on expansive clay beds. The other innovative techniques are drilled piers, belled piers and under-reamed piles. Laboratory scale model studies and field scale experiments on GPAs yielded useful results and revealed that swelling of expansive clay beds was effectively controlled by GPA technique. Studies on swell-shrink behaviour of GPA-reinforced clay beds have not been performed so far. This paper presents results obtained from laboratory scale model studies on GPA-reinforced expansive clay beds subjected to alternate cycles of swelling and shrinkage. The data presented in this paper pertain to the swelling of test clay beds under the influence of three swell-shrink cycles (N) spanning a time period of 300 days. The test clay beds were reinforced with varying number of GPAs (n = 0, 1, 2 and 3). Heave (mm) in a given swell-shrink cycle decreased with increasing number of GPAs. Further, for a given number of GPAs (n), heave (mm) also decreased with increase in depth from the top of the clay bed. It was found that the resultant thickness of the clay bed (Hr) for swelling increased with increasing number of cycles. However, the percentage heave (ΔH/Hr) decreased as the number of swell-shrink cycles (N) increased.  相似文献

Chemical stabilisation of expansive soils has been quite efficacious in reducing swelling characteristics, namely, swell potential (S%) and swelling pressure (ps). When chemicals such as lime and cement are added to an expansive clay, flocculation and cementation take place. Flocculation, which is an immediate reaction, is instrumental in reducing plasticity and swell potential significantly. It also reduces the time required for equilibrium heave. This paper presents experimental data on lime-blended and cement-blended expansive clay specimens. Free swell index (FSI), heave, rate of heave and swelling pressure were studied. FSI, heave and rate of heave decreased with increasing lime content and cement content in the blends. But, during a 3-day inundation (a period, generally allowed for the sample to attain to equilibrium heave), cementitious products developed and resisted the applied compressive loads stiffly, resulting in high swelling pressures in the case of lime-blended specimens. Swelling pressure could not be determined in the case of cement-blended specimens. Hence, short inundation tests (inundating the specimens only for 15 minutes) were performed. But, even from these tests, swelling pressure could not be determined for cement-blended specimens. This indicated the development of strong cementitious products in them. It was interesting to find that, in both long and short duration, the lime- and cement-blended specimens attained to equilibrium heave in the same time period. FSI decreased from 185% to 63.63% when lime content was increased from 0% to 4%, and from 185% to 110% when cement content was increased from 0% to 20%. Swell potential reduced by 42.5% at 4% lime and by 46.4% at 20% cement. Swelling pressure increased from 210 kPa to 320 kPa when lime content was increased from 0% to 4%. Linear shrinkage of the specimens also decreased with increasing additive content.  相似文献

斑岩钼(铜)矿是重要的钼矿资源类型,高氧逸度岩浆是公认的评价斑岩成矿的有效指标。但前人关注的焦点是成矿母岩浆的起源与演化,还原性围岩在斑岩成矿中的作用长期被忽视,是什么触发了高氧化性含矿岩浆热液的还原与成矿还存在不同的认识。文章在前人工作基础上,以中国秦岭-大别、华北克拉通北缘的南泥湖-三道庄-上房沟、沙坪沟、曹四夭等斑岩型钼矿和美国Climax-Henderson巨型斑岩钼矿带中Mt. Emmons等斑岩钼矿为例,重点研究了斑岩钼矿的区域分布与还原性围岩之间的空间关系及成因联系,探讨了斑岩成矿系统氧化还原状态在成矿过程中的变化及触发机制。笔者发现斑岩钼矿的区域分布明显受黑色含碳质地层和中基性火山岩控制,在成矿过程中黑色含碳质围岩普遍发生褪色蚀变;主成矿期矿物流体包裹体中普遍含有甲烷,蚀变围岩和矿床中热液方解石的δ13C值普遍较低。因此,笔者提出含碳质地层和中基性火山岩等围岩中还原性组分的加入是引发斑岩钼(铜)矿成矿系统氧化-还原状态转变和成矿金属沉淀的关键。碳质围岩中有机质热解/碳-水反应产生的甲烷是重要还原剂,CH4沿构造裂隙扩散进入斑岩...  相似文献

膨胀土是一种特殊的黏土,具有明显的胀缩性和多裂隙性,在寒区渠道工程中极易诱发各种冻害。单轴压缩特性是冻土物理力学特性的重要分支,为研究冻结膨胀土的单轴压缩特性,开展了不同干密度和温度下冻结膨胀土单轴压缩试验。试验结果表明:随着干密度的增加,各温度工况下试样的应力-应变关系曲线均由弱应变软化转为应变硬化形态,且试验温度越高,曲线的软化特征越显著。不同温度工况下试样的破坏模式差异明显。当试验温度为-2℃时,试样破坏时其表面出现明显的局部坍塌与剥落,而-5℃、-10℃和-15℃工况下试样的最终破坏形态均为“鼓状”破坏,试样表面无明显的裂缝和剪切面。冻结膨胀土试样的单轴抗压强度随干密度的增加而线性增大,亦随温度的降低而增大,但在不同的温度区间内增幅不同,其变化幅度主要与试样内部含冰量密切相关。此外,试样的弹性模量随着干密度的增大和温度的降低均线性增大。  相似文献

为研究岩石-锚固剂结构水化失稳微观机制,基于泥岩锚固试样SEM试验与纳米压痕试验,分析了不同含水率下岩石-锚固剂结构微观力学性质演化规律。结果表明:干燥条件下岩石-锚固剂结构完整性好,界面呈一定宽度的黏结区域。随含水率增大,结构内出现溶蚀孔洞与裂隙,黏结区域范围缩小,饱和含水率下岩石-锚固剂结构脱黏失效。低含水率下,受各组分间力学性质差异影响,压痕数据离散性较大。高含水率下,各组分间胶结能力劣化,结构整体力学性能降低,数据离散性变小。水化损伤加剧使泥岩胶结结构失效并导致宏观破坏,而锚固剂会填充水化作用下界面产生的微孔隙,使其力学性能相对岩石部分有一定提升,故界面微观参数衰减幅度小于泥岩部分。  相似文献

在钻井过程中经常发生严重的钻井液漏失,不仅给井下安全带来了巨大的隐患,同时也导致更加复杂的井下事故的发生,严重制约了油田的勘探与开发进度。如何有效地解决漏失问题是一个长期困扰工程界的难题。重点介绍了漏层判定方法和堵漏配方模拟评价方法。对于地层漏失,可以首先通过判定方法确定漏层位置,然后再对堵漏配方进行评价,最终形成理想的堵漏配方和相应的堵漏方案。该方法对于提高堵漏成功率,解决复杂地层重复漏失等技术难题具有一定的指导意义。  相似文献
