ABSTRACTThe early and middle Miocene andesitic lavas of the Sierra de Angangueo (MALSA) represent one of the most prominent landforms of intermediate magmatism in Central Mexico. In this paper, we present new petrological, geochemical, thermobarometric, and geochronological data in order to discuss the conditions of MALSA’s emplacement in the lithosphere.MALSA comprises a voluminous eroded early Miocene andesitic structure, emplaced on a Mesozoic basement. MALSA shows a wide variety of textures, from glassy and aphanitic to porphyritic, mainly composed of plagioclase (An10-55), clinopyroxene (Wo60-65; En35-40), amphibole (Mg-hornblende/edenite), and rarely olivine (Fo75–86) or orthopyroxene (En72-80). Major and trace elements plots follow a typical calc-alkaline trend with relatively increasing fractionation.The 87Sr/86Sr isotopic signatures range between 0.703343 and 0.704459 and εNd values from +1.37 to +4.84; apparently without a significant contribution of an old, thick, or highly radiogenic continental crust. Lead isotope values 206Pb/204Pb vary between 18.68 and 18.83, 207Pb/204Pb from 15.57 to 15.65, and 208Pb/204Pb from 38.39 to 38.67, suggesting contamination of magmas by juvenile crust. Thermodynamic calculations indicate equilibrium conditions at ≤900°C and ~2 kbar and an average log ?O2 ≈ ?10.Ar–Ar and K–Ar dating carried out on whole rock, matrix, amphibole, and plagioclase phenocrysts yielded ages between 13.0 ± 0.5 and 23.9 ± 0.3 Ma. These dates indicate a series of pulses with maximum magmatic activity between 24 and 18 Ma.The geochemical and petrologic data suggest partial melting processes in the lower or middle crust associated with possible magma mixing during its ascent; such a mechanism could explain a hybrid mantle-lower crust origin of this large volume of andesites. The MALSA, as well as the early to middle Miocene magmatism from Western Mexico, could represent two coeval and independent magmatic arcs prior to the present Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt (TMVB) in Central Mexico. 相似文献

二郎坪群抱树坪组作为北秦岭早古生代重要的沉积记录,其研究程度较低。本文通过对抱树坪组内火山岩夹层和花岗斑岩脉进行岩石学、地球化学和锆石U- Pb测年研究,旨在进一步确定其沉积时代与构造环境。研究结果表明:豫西夏馆地区抱树坪组火山岩夹层已变质为(黑云)阳起钠长片岩,常与黑云石英片岩呈“互层状”产出;岩石原岩为安山质凝灰岩,具有相对低的SiO2(52. 56%~62. 04%)、较高的Al2O3(10. 70%~18. 55%)、低的MgO(4. 06%~6. 21%)和FeOT/MgO(1. 23~1. 81),富集轻稀土元素和大离子亲石元素Rb、Th、U、K,相对亏损高场强元素Nb、Ta、P、Ti,具镁安山质岩石的特点;结合地球化学特征及前人研究认为,抱树坪组可能形成于活动陆缘弧后盆地。获得黑云阳起钠长片岩原岩的结晶锆石U- Pb年龄为446. 0±1. 7 Ma,以及侵入其中花岗斑岩脉的成岩年龄为430. 0±3. 0 Ma,首次将抱树坪组的形成时代准确地限定为晚奥陶世至早志留世。综合区域研究成果认为,小寨组和抱树坪组在地层层序和地层时代上符合广义二郎坪群的划分方案,但大庙组、火神庙组及由小寨组和抱树坪组构成的整体三者在形成时代上表现为近于同时性,在空间上主体呈现近平行关系,可能主体属时代大体相当的不同沉积环境的产物;在大地构造属性方面,认为二郎坪群是在约470 Ma之前由于商丹洋向北俯冲而形成的火山岛弧,在470~436 Ma转化为弧后盆地,至约430 Ma之前最终完成消减闭合。 相似文献

多宝山超大型铜矿床是我国典型的斑岩型矿床,主要产出于多宝山组岛弧建造和花岗闪长岩、花岗闪长斑岩中,成矿年龄为292~283Ma。根据地球物理异常及大量的基性和超基性岩体,以及通过对比两侧的岩石圈结构、古生物、结晶基底、成矿特征和地球化学特征,认为黑河一嫩江是一条重要的构造边界带,它是兴安和松嫩地块在早石炭世拼合、碰撞、造山隆起形成的。多宝山超大型铜矿床就是形成于两板块碰撞后隆起抬升构造环境的斑岩型铜矿床。 相似文献

Indian peninsular shield, which was once considered to be seismically stable, is experiencing many earthquakes recently. As
part of the national level microzonation programme, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India has initiated microzonation
of greater Bangalore region. The seismic hazard analysis of Bangalore region is carried out as part of this project. The paper
presents the determination of maximum credible earthquake (MCE) and generation of synthetic acceleration time history plot
for the Bangalore region. MCE has been determined by considering the regional seismotectonic activity in about 350 km radius
around Bangalore city. The seismotectonic map has been prepared by considering the faults, lineaments, shear zones in the
area and historic earthquake events of more than 150 events. Shortest distance from the Bangalore to the different sources
is measured and then peak ground acceleration (PGA) is calculated for the different source and moment magnitude. Maximum credible
earthquake found in terms of moment magnitude is 5.1 with PGA value of 0.146 g at city centre with assuming the hypo central
distance of 15.88 km from the focal point. Also, correlations for the fault length with historic earthquake in terms of moment
magnitude, yields (taking the rupture fault length as 5% of the total fault length) a PGA value of 0.159 g. Acceleration time
history (ground motion) and a response acceleration spectrum for the corresponding magnitude has been generated using synthetic
earthquake model considering the regional seismotectonic parameters. The maximum spectral acceleration obtained is 0.332 g
for predominant period of 0.06 s. The PGA value and synthetic earthquake ground motion data from the identified vulnerable
source using seismotectonic map will be useful for the PGA mapping and microzonation of the area. 相似文献

岔河地区火山岩属三江构造带澜沧江构造岩浆带的南段.晚二叠世在岔河一带喷发了一套安山岩-流纹岩与粗面岩组合的杂色火山岩系.熔岩普遍为斑状结构,斑晶为斜长石和角闪石.以钙碱性和碱性岩为主,其次是拉斑玄武岩系.据CIPW计算,除碱性岩系外,均含标准石英分子.稀土元素分配模式为无Eu异常的富轻稀土右倾型.微量元素分配形式为亏损P、Ti元素的锯齿状.w(Zr)/w(Y)值大于3.5,w(Ti)/w(Y)值小于500,W(TiO2)平均为0.82%.岩浆来源深度为138 km.表明岔河地区火山岩属大陆边缘弧构造环境的产物. 相似文献

通过1∶5万区域地质调查,对祁连山哈拉湖地区火山岩进行了野外地质、岩石学、锆石U-Pb同位素年龄、地球化学等研究。LA-ICP-MS锆石U-Pb同位素定年结果显示,该火山岩年龄为466.3±2.4Ma(n=9,MSWD=1.4),形成于中奥陶世。岩石地球化学研究表明,哈拉湖地区火山岩为低钾拉斑玄武系列,绝大多数样品的亲石元素Rb、Th、U、Ce、Zr、Nd和稀土元素La、Sm富集明显;高场强元素(Sr、P、Ti)强烈亏损,Zr、Hf微弱富集,Ba明显亏损。总的特征显示,少数火山岩具有过渡型洋脊玄武岩的特征,大多数火山岩样品显示岛弧火山岩的特征。此外,哈拉湖地区的岛弧火山岩与晚奥陶世的岛弧花岗岩伴生在一起。这些特征表明,与俯冲有关的奥陶纪岛弧岩石可能与拉脊山地区古大洋的闭合有关。 相似文献

Correlations in space and time play a fundamental role in earthquake processes. One direct manifestation of the effects of correlations is the occurrence of aftershocks due to the stress transfer in the vicinity of a main shock. Less obvious and more speculative changes in correlations may occur in the background seismicity before large earthquakes. Using statistical physics it is possible to introduce a measure of spatial correlations through a correlation length. This quantity characterizes how local fluctuations can influence the occurrence of earthquakes over distances comparable with the correlation length. In this work, the physical basis of spatial correlations of earthquakes is discussed in the context of critical phenomena and the percolation problem. The method of two-point correlation function is applied to the seismicity of California. Well defined variations in time of the correlation length are found for aftershock sequences and background seismicity. The scaling properties of our obtained distributions are analyzed with respect to changes in several scaling parameters such as lower magnitude cutoff of earthquakes, the maximum time interval between earthquakes, and the spatial size of the area considered. This scaling behavior can be described in a unified manner by utilizing the multifractal fit. Utilizing the percolation approach the time evolution of clusters of earthquakes is studied with the correlation length defined in terms of the radius of gyration of clusters. We localized crustal earthquakes in the Andean arc, between 35°S and 36°S, from December 2009 to May 2010. This research shows a seismicity increase, in a narrow longitudinal area, of more than nine times after the great Mw 8.8 Maule earthquake.The localized seismicity defines an area of ∼80 km long and ∼18 km wide and NNW to NNE trend. The Md magnitudes varied from 0.7 to 3.1 except for two earthquakes with Mw of 3.9 and 4.5, located in the northern end of the area. The focal mechanisms for these two last events were normal/strike-slip and strike-slip respectively.During 2011, a network of 13 temporary stations was installed in the trasarc region in Malargüe, Argentina. Sixty earthquakes were localized in the study region during an 8 month period.We explored how changes in Coulomb conditions associated with the mega-thrust earthquake triggered subsequent upper-plate events in the arc region. We assumed the major proposed structures as receiver faults and used previously published earthquake source parameters and slip distribution for the Maule quake. The largest contribution to static stress change, up to 5 bars, derives from unclamping resulting consistent with co-seismic dilatational deformation inferred from GPS observations in the region and subsidence in nearby volcanoes caused by magma migration.Three different Quaternary tectonic settings–extensional, strike-slip and compressional-have been proposed for the arc region at these latitudes. We found that the unclamping produced by the Maule quake could temporarily change the local regime to normal/strike-slip, or at least it would favor the activation of Quaternary NNE to N-trending dextral strike-slip faults with dextral transtensional movement. 相似文献
