根据形成机制的不同将平流层准零风层(Quasi-Zero Wind Layer,QZWL)划分为由平流层准两年周期振荡(Quasi-Biennial Oscillation,QBO)各高度处于不同位相形成的第一类QZWL和由于平流层低层经向温度梯度逆转而形成的第二类QZWL;利用ERA-40再分析资料分析了两类QZWL在不同季节中空间结构的变化规律,讨论了平流层QBO对两类QZWL年际变化产生的影响。研究结果表明:第一类QZWL集中出现在冬季赤道附近地区,第二类QZWL在夏季热带外地区和冬季20°N~40°N太平洋地区上空;QZWL夏季高度比冬季低约3 km,夏季QZWL出现高度比冬季稳定,约在50~70 hPa之间;由于受到QBO的直接影响,第一类QZWL出现的高度和纬度范围存在明显的年际变化,第二类QZWL受到QBO的影响主要体现在QBO西风位相年和东风位相年相比,冬季20°N~40°N范围内存在第二类QZWL的概率较高。  相似文献

应用NOAA气候预测中心提供的热带大气季节内振荡(MJO)客观业务指数及中国气象局上海台风研究所提供的西北太平洋热带气旋(TC)最佳路径资料集,定量统计榆验了MJO对夏季西北太平洋TC活动的调制作用.结果表明:MJO对TC的生成、强度、路径和登陆活动都有显著的调节作用.当高空辐合中心位于120°E~160°E(MJO位相3~5)时,西北太平洋TC生成偏少,且生成位置偏北;而当高空辐合中心位于10°W~70°E(MJO位相8~10)时,西北太平洋TC生成偏多,且生成位置偏南;随着TC强度加强,能达到显著调节作用的MJO位相逐渐减少,当高空辐合辐散中心位于70°E(MJO位相10)时,对TC强度调制最显著.在路径调节方面,MJO位相1~4和10时,TC活跃于菲律宾以东的西北太平洋上,主要路径为西北偏北行,可能登陆华东、华北;而位相5~8时,TC主要活跃在菲律宾附近及以西到南海,以偏西行路径为主,可能登陆华南.MJO对登陆华南TC也有显著影响.该定量统计检验结果可为TC活动季节内预测提供依据.  相似文献

基于最新版本的全球降水气候中心(Global Precipitation Climatology Centre Version 7,GPCC_V7)资料与欧洲中期数值预报中心20世纪再分析资料(ERA-20C)融合的百年尺度逐月降水资料(1901~2012年),运用集合经验模态分解方法(EEMD)、合成分析等方法系统分析了我国北方干旱半干旱区降水多年代际变化特征及与太平洋年代际振荡(PDO)之间的相互关系。结果表明:北方干旱半干旱区大多数区域降水都具有50~60年的平均变化周期,而PDO对大多数地区降水多年代际变化特征具有明显的调制作用;其中新疆北部和内蒙古北部的降水与PDO呈现出显著的正相关,而河套东西部地区的降水则与PDO的变化呈现显著负相关。进一步分析表明,当PDO为暖相位时,径向环流增强使得北冰洋水汽南下,当遇到低空北上的阿拉伯海域暖湿气流时,会造成新疆中南部的降水增多;另一方面,PDO暖相位时赤道西太平洋及印度洋区域通过对流加热的作用激发了太平洋—日本/东亚—太平洋(PJ/EAP)遥相关型的产生,这有利于渤海湾暖湿水汽输送至干旱半干旱区北部区域,增大降水概率;同时,当偏北和偏西气流在河套北部区域相遇时会形成降水中心。当PDO位于冷位相时,结论则反之。  相似文献

The potential impacts of valley fills associated with mountaintop removal/valley fill (MTR/VF) coal mining on downstream flooding in the coalfields of eastern Kentucky and adjacent states are a subject of public debate and scientific uncertainty. This study explored two aspects of this issue. First, hydrologic indices of relative runoff production and surface and subsurface flow detention were applied to conditions typical of headwater and low-order drainage basins in eastern Kentucky. Results show that there is a clear risk of increased flooding (greater runoff production and less surface flow detention) following MTR/VF operations, and suggest that, on balance, valley fills are more likely to increase rather than decrease flood potential. However, there is a wide range of outcomes, qualitatively and quantitatively. Flood risks can be increased or decreased, and the degree of either may vary markedly. The effects of MTR/VF mining on downstream peak flows are highly contingent on local pre- and post-mining conditions, and it would be unwise to apply generalizations to specific sites. Second, the occurrence of flash floods downstream of MTR/VF operations when nearby unmined areas did not flood or had less severe floods has frequently been explained (without supporting data) in terms of locally greater precipitation. The likelihood of such short-range variability of storm precipitation is evaluated by applying the state probability function to NEXRAD radar estimates of precipitation for two 2001 storms which produced flash floods in eastern Kentucky. The spatial structure of the storm precipitation indicates that at the scale of the analysis (pixel size of approximately 2 km) large local variations in storm precipitation are unlikely—that is, the probability of nearby hollows or low-order drainage basins receiving substantially different storm precipitation totals is low.  相似文献

This study focuses on the characteristics of the 30-60-day oscillation (MJO) associated with the interannual variability of the thermal state in the western Pacific warm pool. The composite results show that the amplitude of MJO convection over the tropical western Pacific tends to intensify (reduce) in the WARM (COLD) case. The negative correlations between MJO convection in the WARM and inthe COLD cases are examined to be significant over most of the Asian-Pacific region. The evolutions of MJO convection and lower circulation, on the one hand, exhibit larger differences between the WARM and COLD cases, but on the other hand, display a unique feature in that a well-developed MJO cyclone (anticyclone) is anchored over the Asian-Western Pacific domain at the peak enhanced (suppressed) MJO convection phase over the western Pacific warm pool, either in the WARM or in the COLD case. This unique feature of MJO shows a Gill-type response of lower circulation to the convection and is inferred to be an inherent appearance of MJO. The context in the paper suggests there may exist interactions between MJO and the interannual variability of the thermal state in the western Pacific warm pool.  相似文献

The modulation of twin tropical cyclogenesis in the Indian-western Pacific Oceans by the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) during the onset period of 1997/98 ENSO is explored for the period of September 1996 to June 1997 based on daily OLR, NCEP/NCAR wind vector, and JTWC best track datasets. The MJO westerly wind burst associated with its eastward propagation can result in a series of tropical cyclogeneses in a multi-day interval. Only in the transition seasons are pairs of tropical cyclones observed in both the tropical sectors of the Indian-western Pacific Oceans. Two remarkable twin tropical cyclogeneses probably modulated by the MJO westerly wind burst are found: one is observed in the Indian Ocean in the middle of October 1996, and the other is observed in the Western Pacific Ocean in late May 1997. The twin tropical cyclogenesis in mid-October 1996 is observed when the super cloud cluster separates into two isolated clusters by the enhanced westerly wind, which is accompanied by two independent vortices in the equatorial tropical sectors. The other one, in late-May 1997, however, is characterized by one cyclonic flow that later results in another cyclonic cell in its opposite equatorial sector. Thus, there are two very important conditions for twin cyclogenesis: one is the MJO westerly wind straddling the equator, and the other is the integral super cloud cluster, which later splits into two cloud convective clusters with independent vortices.  相似文献

利用先进的信号检测技术——多窗谱方法(MTM),对1856-1998年的南、北半球月平均温度序列进行多种信号的检测、重构,系统对比了年代际振荡信号在南北半球、海陆表面及不同季节的差异,进而研究其对变暖显著性的影响。结果表明近150年来,南北半球平均温度变率中,变暖趋势占主导地位。但北半球年平均温度的变暖背景上还叠加着显著的40年、60-70年的准周期振荡,导致其线性增暖的显著性、稳定性都较南半球低,夏季尤为明显。海陆对比,海洋上年代际振荡信号较陆地明显,线性增温率略低于陆地,但稳定性较高。值得注意的是,年代际振荡信号已在20世纪90年代中达到峰值,近期已开始下降,这有可能影响北半球未来气候增暖的速率。同时通过对海气耦合模式数值模拟结果的初步分析,表明观测到的增暖趋势与海气系统内部的自然变率无关,年代际振荡可能是海气系统的固有振荡。  相似文献

The deformation mechanisms of a natural gypsum rock were investigated in instantaneous and long-term laboratory tests. The mechanical behaviour of this rock is strongly influenced by the relative humidity, but this influence seems to be more important on the long-term behaviour. Apart from classical plastic mechanisms, we identify a damage-like mechanism assisted by the variation in relative humidity. Even though this mechanism contributes to the increase of creep strain rate, laboratory evidence shows that it is unrelated to oriented cracking, as usually is the case with stress-induced damage. This mechanism is thought to be due to the migration of water molecules from their sites in the crystalline structure of gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O) while under stress. By entering the capillary space, these molecules contribute to the formation of adsorbed water layers and the increased thickness of these layers, thus reducing the interaction between neighbouring faces of gypsum crystals. So, more than effective stress, a complex mechanism reducing the creep activation energy, assisted by relative humidity and stress, is considered as the principal mechanism controlling the long-term behaviour of natural gypsum rock. Such a mechanism would also explain the traces of dissolution observed in pillars of underground gypsum quarries, where, because of the absence of water table, a dissolution-precipitation creep seems improbable.  相似文献

The time evolution of atmospheric parameters on intraseasonal time scale in the eastern Arabian Sea (EAS) is studied during the summer monsoon seasons of 1998–2003 using Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Microwave Imager (TMI) data. This is done using the spectral and wavelet analysis. Analysis shows that over EAS, total precipitable water vapour (TWV) and sea surface wind speed (SWS) have a periodicity of 8–15 days, 15–30 days and 30–60 days during the monsoon season. Significant power is seen in the 8–15-day time scale in TWV during onset and retreat of the summer monsoon. Analysis indicates that the timings of the intensification of 8–15, 15–30, and 30–60 days oscillations have a profound effect on the evolution of the daily rainfall over west coast of India. The positive and negative phases of these oscillations are directly related to the active and dry spells of rainfall along the west coast of India. The spectral analysis shows interannual variation of TWV and SWS. Heavy rainfall events generally occur over the west coast of India when positive phases of both 30–60 days and 15–30 days modes of TWV and SWS are simultaneously present.  相似文献
