西昆仑北带喀依孜斑岩型钼矿床地质地球化学特征及年代学研究 总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2
喀依孜钼矿床是近年来西昆仑地区新发现的具规模的斑岩型矿床。钼矿化赋存在花岗闪长岩体边部,由南、北两个矿化带组成,矿石呈浸染状,矿石矿物由辉钼矿及少量黄铁矿和黄铜矿组成。矿石Mo品位0.04%~1.53%,局部达10%~15%。围岩蚀变有钾化、黄铁绢英岩化和青磐岩化等斑岩型矿床蚀变组合。含矿岩体为花岗闪长岩,岩石地球化学具高SiO2、Al2O3,富K2O、Na2O,低CaO、TiO2等特点,属于高钾钙碱性系列,微量元素富集大离子亲石元素(LILE),亏损高场强元素(HFSE)和重稀土元素,显示Nb和Ta的负异常,与俯冲带岩浆地球化学特征类似,岩石成因可能与俯冲作用有关。含矿岩体锆石LA-ICPMS定年获得250.7±4.7Ma(MSWD=1.6),3件辉钼矿Re-Os模式年龄分别为254.4±1.9Ma、257.0±3.4Ma、258.5±2.0Ma,成岩成矿发生在晚二叠世末-早三叠世初。综合区域演化特征,本文认为喀依孜斑岩型钼矿床成因与古特斯洋向塔里木板块俯冲有关,形成于塔里木大陆边缘弧环境。 相似文献

We have jointly analysed space gravimetry data from the GRACE space mission, satellite altimetry data and precipitation over the East African Great Lakes region, in order to study the spatiotemporal variability of hydrological parameters (total water storage, lake water volume and rainfall). We find that terrestrial water storage (TWS) from GRACE and precipitation display a common mode of variability at interannual time scale, with a minimum in late 2005, followed by a rise in 2006–2007. We argue that this event is due to forcing by the strong 2006 Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on East African rainfall. We also show that GRACE TWS is linked to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation cycle. Combination of the altimetry-based lake water volume with TWS from GRACE over the lakes drainage basins allows estimating soil moisture and groundwater volume variations. Comparison with the WGHM hydrological model outputs is performed and discussed. 相似文献

Abstract Geographical information systems (GIS) were phased into the geography curriculum of South African schools from 2006–2008 as part of the National Curriculum Statement (NCS) for grades 10–12. Since its introduction, GIS education in schools across the country has been met with a number of challenges including the cost of purchasing the hardware and software required to elucidate the basic concepts of GIS to learners. This article examines the introduction of GIS education in schools in South Africa. The development and distribution of a paper-based GIS educational package for resource-poor schools in the country is also highlighted. Preliminary educator and learner evaluations of the paper-based GIS package are discussed and the broader learning opportunities and benefits associated with flexible teaching mechanisms are examined. 相似文献

The East African region has experienced major landslides in recent years. These landslides have caused many fatalities and injuries, loss of many hectares of productive farmlands and destruction to infrastructure such as roads, railways and bridges. The warm and wet climate of the landslide-prone regions causes rapid weathering and produces a regolith weaker than the underlying rock with an interface between the two layers. This interface serves as the most common plane along which landslides are initiated once it becomes saturated. Landslides in the region are associated with steep topography, human activities such as deforestation, overgrazing, and unplanned farming on steep slopes and are induced by earthquakes and high intensity of rainfall. The landslide-prone areas are agriculturally very productive and the inhabitants depend on agriculture for their livelihood. The areas also contribute substantially to the national food reserve. The landslides are therefore a burden to the economies of the individual farmers and national governments of the region. 相似文献

Dynamic simulation models allow an integrated representation of human and biophysical driving forces, to test their influence on land use. Dynamic models emphasise the interactions among the components of the system and take into account feedback loops and threshold effects. In this paper, the SALU model was used to generate “what-if” scenarios to explore hypotheses on the relative role of driving forces of land-use change in the Sudano-sahelian countries of Africa. The model simulations provided useful insights to better understand the processes of land-use change. Rural population growth represents a larger stimuli for land-use change than urban population growth. Demographic variables have a greater impact on land use than recurring droughts. The demographic driving forces are slow variables while rainfall is a fast variable. Recurring droughts could be viewed as trigger events, and urban population growth and consumption as mediating factors, while rural population growth defines long-term trends. Technological change defines thresholds in land use. Land-use change results from interactions between driving forces. The timing of occurrence of drought with respect to transitions in land use has a major impact on land-use change. Polices aimed at protecting pastoral land and supporting agricultural intensification both contribute to maintain pastoral activities. Simulating a conservative carrying capacity has a major impact on land use predictions. By examining environmental, social and economic implications of various land-use scenarios, the modelling approach adopted in SALU can provide support for decision-making. 相似文献

Vegetation and sedimentation in the Lake Edward Basin, Uganda–Congo during the late Pleistocene and early Holocene 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
New palynological and sedimentological data obtained from the basal 3 m of core E96-2P from Lake Edward, Uganda–Congo record conditions wetter than present in the Edward basin from 11 000 to 6700 yr BP, in phase with other climate and vegetation records of northern hemispheric East Africa. Dominant pollen taxa include Celtis spp., Alchornea spp., Olea spp., and Moraceae indicating a moist semi-deciduous tropical forest. More xeric indicators such as Amaranthaceae and Asteraceae together with Poaceae comprise less than 5% of the pollen sum throughout this interval as compared with between 44 and 50% during a lake lowstand at 2000 cal yr BP and at the core top (near modern). The differences between these two assemblages suggest a 25 to 60% increase in annual precipitation during the early- to mid-Holocene as compared to modern (1500–2000 vs. 1200 mm/yr today). Early Holocene sediments in E96-2P are composed of laminated diatom oozes with moderately high total sulfur concentrations (2.8–4.7%) and no authigenic calcite, also indicative of conditions wetter than present. Between 9000 and 6700 yr BP, palynological and sedimentary proxies indicate sub-millennial-scale events related to changes in riverine discharge and runoff in the Edward basin. We attribute the variability in runoff, and hence precipitation, to Holocene variability in Indian or Atlantic Ocean SSTs or to shifts in the relative contribution of Indian and Atlantic moisture sources to the western Rift of equatorial Africa. 相似文献

This paper and a companion article present illustrated guides to the identification of sub-fossil chironomid larvae (Insecta: Diptera: Chironomidae) preserved in the sediments of low- and mid-elevation lakes in East Africa. They are based on analysis of surface-sediment death assemblages from 61 lakes located in the humid to semi-arid environments of equatorial East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania), supplemented with similar surface-sediment samples from 12 lakes in the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia), and sub-recent core samples from six lakes in Kenya and two in Uganda. We analyzed about 11,000 specimens and identified 98.4% of these to species, species group, genus, or tribe level depending on current -taxonomic knowledge of the various genera considered and the taxonomic resolution of preserved diagnostic features. We distinguished 90 different sub-fossil morphotypes, of which 16 are Tanypodinae, 19 are Orthocladiinae, and 55 are Chironominae. Diagnostic characters distinguishing these morphotypes from each other resemble differences at the species level in the better-known Holarctic fauna, hence we consider most of our morphotypes equivalent to morphological species or groups of closely related species. In this paper we focus on the Tanypodinae and Orthocladiinae, with special attention to the high taxon richness among the Pentaneurini. Patterns of cephalic setation were found to facilitate identification of Tanypodinae both at the genus and species level, and contributed to improved taxonomic resolution in sub-fossil East African material. High taxon richness and numerical abundance of the Orthocladiinae in our study lakes indicates that a considerable number of African Orthocladiinae is adapted to warm standing-water environments. 相似文献

Approximately 1.2 km of dolomitic limestone overlies the Far West Rand gold reefs southwest of Johannesburg, South Africa. This karst aquifer is partitioned into several groundwater compartments by predominantly north–south trending syenite dykes. Prior to mining, the primary water flow was westwards, decanting over dyke boundaries as a succession of springs along the Lower Wonderfontein Spruit. Dewatering of the overlying dolomitic aquifer for safety and economic reasons by deep gold mining operations, caused the water levels of four compartments to drop and their respective springs to dry up. By perforating dykes, formerly separated aquifers were hydraulically interconnected by mining. Using historical and recent data of water flow—surface and groundwater—and pumping rates, a geohydrological model is presented. The results suggest that the water tables will rise to their pre-mining levels within 30 years after mining ceases and that the dry springs will flow again, despite the compartments being connected by the extensive mining operations.

A new occurrence of the rare corundum + quartz assemblage and magnesian staurolite has been found in a gedrite–garnet rock from the Central Zone of the Neoarchean Limpopo Belt in Zimbabwe. Poikiloblastic garnet in the sample contains numerous inclusions of corundum + quartz ± sillimanite, magnesian staurolite + sapphirine ± orthopyroxene, and sapphirine + sillimanite assemblages, as well as monophase inclusions. Corundum, often containing subhedral to rounded quartz, occurs as subhedral to euhedral inclusions in the garnet. Quartz and corundum occur in direct grain contact with no evidence of a reaction texture. The textures and Fe–Mg ratios of staurolite inclusions and the host garnet suggest a prograde dehydration reaction of St → Grt + Crn + Qtz + H2O to give the corundum + quartz assemblage. Peak conditions of 890–930 °C at 9–10 kbar are obtained from orthopyroxene + sapphirine and garnet + staurolite assemblages. A clockwise P–T path is inferred, with peak conditions being followed by retrograde conditions of 4–6 kbar and 500–570 °C. The presence of unusually magnesian staurolite (Mg / [Fe + Mg] = 0.47–0.53) and corundum + garnet assemblages provides evidence for early high-pressure metamorphism in the Central Zone, possibly close to eclogite facies. The prograde high-pressure event followed by high- to ultrahigh-temperature metamorphism and rapid uplifting of the Limpopo Belt could have occurred as a result of Neoarchean collisional orogeny involving the Zimbabwe and Kaapvaal Cratons. 相似文献
