We report on time-resolved photometry carried out during the 1995 short outburst and the 1997 long outburst in the eclipsing dwarf nova DV UMa. The revised orbital period is 0.0858526172 (67) d. We detected gigantic superhumps with an amplitude of ∼0.6 mag in the mid-phase of the 1997 outburst, revealing the SU UMa nature of DV UMa. The superhump period is 0.0887 (4) d. The superhumps became less clear during the late phase of the superoutburst, and we found two possible periods of 0.0885 (15) and 0.0764 (15). During both outbursts, the eclipse was wide and shallow near the maximum, and then became narrower and deeper, which is qualitatively well explained by the current disc instability theory. 相似文献

We show that the recently discovered short period supersoft source in M31 is probably a progenitor of a magnetic cataclysmic variable (CV). The white dwarf spins asynchronously because of the current high accretion rate. However its fieldstrength is typical of an AM Herculis system, which is what it will ultimately become. Previous VLA observations of the triple radio continuum source in Serpens showed that it has very unusual and extraordinary characteristics. While this source is associated with a star forming region, its outer components exhibit a combination of thermal and nonthermal spectra and large proper motions, Furthermore, the NW lobe has knotty and extended emission connecting the central source with the bright outer knot. Here, we present results of new VLA radio continuum high-angular resolution observations of this Radio Jet. Combining these observations with those obtained previously, we find that: a) one of the knots along the main body of the radio jet (knot G) exhibits proper motions similar to those observed in the outer NW and SE components, and the time variable knot A; b) the outer knots are moving away from the central source in slightly different directions; and c) the orientation of the central source seems to change with time. These results are consistent with a central precessing source that undergoes periodic ejection of material. 相似文献

In this paper we review the possibilities for
magnetohydrodynamic processes to handle the angular momentum transport
in accretion disks. Traditionally the angular momentum transport has
been considered to be the result of turbulent viscosity in the disk,
although the Keplerian flow in accretion disks is linearly stable towards
hydrodynamic perturbations. It is on the other hand linearly unstable
to some magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) instabilities.
The most important instabilities are the Parker and Balbus-Hawley
instabilities that are related to the magnetic buoyancy and the shear
flow, respectively. We discuss these instabilities not only in the
traditional MHD framework, but also in the context of slender flux
tubes, that reduce the complexity of the problem while keeping most of
the stability properties of the complete problem. In the non-linear
regime the instabilities produce turbulence. Recent numerical
simulations describe the generation of magnetic fields by a dynamo in
the resulting turbulent flow. Eventually such a dynamo may generate a
global magnetic field in the disk. The relation of the MHD-turbulence
to observations of accretion disks is still obscure. It is commonly
believed that magnetic fields can be highly efficient in transporting
the angular momentum, but emission lines, short-time scale variability
and non-thermal radiation, which a stellar astronomer would take as
signs of magnetic variability, are more commonly observed during periods
of low accretion rates.
