The interaction of waves with arrays of porous circular cylinders is studied theoretically and, under the assumption of potential flow and linear wave theory, an analytical solution is derived. The solution is valid for either submerged or emerged structures. The extension to the cases of unidirectional and multidirectional waves is obtained by means of a transfer function. For specific conditions the model gives the same solution as those previously presented by other authors. Numerical results are presented which exemplify diverse wave and mechanical parameters on the wave transformation due to the presence of a system of circular cylinders. 相似文献

Wave interaction with a concentric porous cylinder system. Ocean Engineering 1994;21(4):343–60], wherein; the interaction of linear waves with a single concentric porous cylinder system was studied. This paper aims at investigating the influence of multiple interactions between the cylinders in the group on the hydrodynamic wave forces, wave run-up and free-surface elevation in their vicinity. The analysis of the data of model tests of two large deep wharves and monographic experimental studies show that two aspects are to be improved so as to predict the wave uplift forces on the bottom of a circular cylinder. The first aspect is the uplift pressure distribution on the bottom, and the second is the correct determination of the phase for maximum horizontal wave forces. The second problem has been solved. Synthesizing the results of theoretical analysis and experiments, we suggest a diagram for the determination of the phase when the maximum horizontal wave force appears. On the basis-ef the diagram the simultaneous wave uplift forces can be obtained for the structural stability analysis. 相似文献

The spatial evolution of vortices and transition to three-dimensionality in the wake of two circular cylinders in tandem arrangement have been numerically studied. An improved virtual body method developed from the virtual boundary method is used here. A Reynolds number range between 220 and 270 has been considered, and the spacing between two cylinders is selected as L/D = 3 and L/D = 3.5. When L/D = 3, the secondary vortices of Mode-A are seen to appear at Re = 240 and persist over the range of the Reynolds number of 240 - 270. When L/D = 3.5, the similar critical Reynolds number has been found at Re = 250. No obvious discontinuity has been found in the Strouhal-Reynolds number relationship, and this is different from three-dimensional flow around a single cylinder at the critical Reynolds number. The spanwise wavelength is about four times the diameter of the cylinder, and it is the characteristic wavelength for ModeA instability. This paper can give some foremost insight into the three-dimensional instability of flow by complicated geometrical configuration. 相似文献

The equation of groundwater flow in marine island aquifers in which there is time-independent, spatially-variable recharge
and pumping is solved in closed form for rectangular, circular, and elliptical island geometries. The solution of the groundwater
flow equation is expressed in terms of the elevation of the phreatic surface within the flow domain. The depth of the seawater-freshwater
interface below mean sea level follows from the Dupuit–Ghyben–Herzberg relation. The method of solution presented in this
work relies on expanding the hydraulic head and forcing function (recharge and groundwater extraction) as Fourier series that
transforms the two-dimensional Poisson-type flow equations into second-order ordinary differential equations solvable using
classical theory. The important case of constant recharge (without groundwater extraction) leads to solutions in which the
hydraulic head is expressible as the product of a flow factor equal to the squared root of the ratio of recharge over hydraulic
conductivity times a geometric factor involving island shape parameters and flow boundary conditions. Estimability conditions
for the hydraulic conductivity are derived for the cases of constant recharge and spatially variable recharge with pumping. 相似文献
