This paper summarizes advances since 1987 in the application of glacial sediment sampling to mineral exploration (drift prospecting) in areas affected by continental or alpine glaciation. In these exploration programs, clastic glacial sediments are tested by geochemical or mineralogical methods to detect dispersal trains of mineral deposit indicators that have been glacially transported from source by mechanical processes. In glaciated terrain the key sampling medium, till, is produced by abrasion, crushing and blending of rock debris and recycled sediment followed by down-ice dispersal ranging from a few metres to many kilometres. As a consequence of the mid-1980s boom in gold exploration, the majority of case studies and regional till geochemical surveys published in the past decade deal with this commodity. Approximately 30% of Canada and virtually all of Fennoscandia have been covered by regional till geochemical surveys that aid mineral exploration and provide baseline data for environmental, agricultural, and landuse planning. The most profound event in drift prospecting in the last decade, however, has been the early-1990s explosion in diamond exploration which has dramatically increased the profile of glacial geology and glacial sediment sampling and stimulated changes in sampling and analytical methods.  相似文献

新疆夏季0 oC 层高度变化对河流年径流量的影响   总被引:13,自引:1,他引:12

按气候特点和河流径流情况把新疆划分为阿尔泰- 塔城、天山山区和昆仑山北坡3 个研究区域。采用1960~2002 年新疆12 个探空站逐日观测资料和34 个水文站的年径流资料, 利用经过5 点平滑处理的曲线趋势对比和线性相关的研究方法, 定性与定量相结合分析了43 年来新疆夏季0 oC 层平均高度变化和河流径流变化趋势及空间分布差异, 并建立了二者的定量关系式。研究表明: 新疆夏季0 oC层平均高度与河流年径流量变化具有较好的一致性, 尤其是1970 年代以来, 两者的变化趋势更加亦步亦趋。各区变化不尽相同, 阿尔泰- 塔城和天山山区为1990 年代初以来夏季0 oC层平均高度为显著升高地区, 昆仑山北坡为下降区。与之相对应, 同期前两个地区的河流径流量也显著增大, 后一个区域的径流量略为减少。就相关 性而言, 新疆全区和分区的天山山区以及昆仑山北坡等地的夏季0 oC层高度与河流径流量均有较好的相关性, 均通过了0.01 显著水平的统计检验。表明新疆近年来不仅近地面发生了气候变化, 高空也同样发生了类似的变化, 并直接导致了夏季0 ooC层高度的升降。气候变暖, 新疆夏季0 oC层升高, 山区的冰雪消融加快, 河流径流量相应增多, 进入丰水期。反之, 进入枯水期。夏季0 oC层高度的升降直接影响新疆河流径流量, 在新疆气候暖湿化过程中, 高空的增温也是一个较直接的因子。  相似文献

The variability of the New Guinea Coastal Current (NGCC) and New Guinea Coastal Undercurrent (NGCUC) were examined from one year time series of current data from ADCP moorings at 2°S, 142°E and 2.5°S, 142°E. Change in the hydrographic structure induced by monsoonal wind forcing was also examined from hydrographic data along the 142°E covering consecutively two winter seasons and two summer seasons. The westward NGCUC was observed to persist year around. The annual mean depth of the current core was 220 m, the mean speed of the zonal component was 54 cm/s with a standard deviation of 15 cm/s at the 2.5°S site. Velocity fluctuations at 20–30 day period were observed year around. Seasonal reversal of the surface intensified NGCC was clearly observed. In the boreal summer characterized by the southeasterly monsoon, westward currents of over 60 cm/s were dominant in the surface layer. The warm, low-salinity layer thickened at this time and sloped down toward the New Guinea coast from the equator. This surface water accumulation may be caused by onshore Ekman drift at the New Guinea coast, combined with weak Ekman upwelling at the equator. In the boreal winter, an eastward surface current developed to 100 cm/s extending down to 100 m depth in response to the northwesterly monsoonal winds. Coastal upwelling was indicated in this season and the surface water accumulated at the equator due to Ekman convergence. Shipboard ADCP data indicated that the NGCUC intensified in boreal summer as the width and depth of the NGCUC increased.  相似文献

西藏浪卡子至洛扎公路是西藏山南地区环线公路的西段,全长120 km,集交通、外交、军事于一体。由于公路位于高寒、新构造运动强烈的地区,特殊的地质背景、气候因素和地理环境,为该地区地质灾害的发生孕育了良好的条件。涎流冰是指水在持续负温下随流随冻形成的积冰,水源和负温是涎流冰形成的先决条件。公路沿线有10处涎流冰灾害,影响的公路总长457 m。涎流冰灾害对公路的建设和运营构成了极大的危害,对其治理以防为主,采用涵洞或盲沟排水,同时必须防冻。  相似文献

研究了风浪流联合作用下单点系泊船的受力问题.在应用Newman公式计算波浪漂移力的基础上,结合文献《Fleet Moorings Design Manual》,提出了不同方向的风、浪、流联合作用时,单点系泊船所受到的横向力、纵向力和回转力矩的计算方法.提出了风浪同向时,不同风流夹角组合对应的船舶平衡位置的确定方法.为缆绳、锚的选择以及舵角的控制提供了依据.最后通过算例验证了本方法的适用性和实用性.  相似文献

Eirik Drift lies on the slope south of Greenland, where it has been formed under the influence of the Western Boundary Undercurrent (WBUC) closely downstream of its origin in the deep-water formation centres of the Nordic Seas. Therefore, the sediment record at Eirik Drift documents modifications in pathways and intensity of the WBUC. These modifications reflect alterations in deep-water formation in the Nordic Seas and are therefore coupled with climate changes. Based on the seismostratigraphic analysis of sedimentary architecture identified in a set of high-resolution seismic reflection data, we have reconstructed the palaeocirculation of the WBUC at Eirik Drift since the early Miocene. We revealed a strong WBUC during warm climate conditions, and in phases of climate cooling with enhanced sea-ice extent we interpreted weak WBUC influence. We suggest a southward shift of the deep-water formation regions along with a shift of the deep current system during the cool phases. This shift implies that the main North Atlantic Deep Water route affected Eirik Drift only during warm phases and that during cool phases weak branches of the circulation system flowed over Eirik Drift.  相似文献

A generalized pushover analysis (GPA) procedure is developed for estimating the inelastic seismic response of structures under earthquake ground excitations. The procedure comprises applying different generalized force vectors separately to the structure in an incremental form with increasing amplitude until a prescribed seismic demand is attained for each generalized force vector. A generalized force vector is expressed as a combination of modal forces, and simulates the instantaneous force distribution acting on the system when a given response parameter reaches its maximum value during dynamic response to a seismic excitation. While any response parameter can be selected arbitrarily, generalized force vectors in the presented study are derived for maximum interstory drift parameters. The maximum value of any other response parameter is then obtained from the envelope of GPAs results. Each nonlinear static analysis under a generalized force vector activates the entire multi‐degree of freedom effects simultaneously. Accordingly, inelastic actions develop in members with the contribution of all ‘instantaneous modes’ in the nonlinear response range. Target seismic demands for interstory drifts at the selected stories are calculated from the associated drift expressions. The implementation of the proposed GPA is simpler compared with nonlinear response history analysis, whereas it is less demanding in computational effort when compared with several multi‐mode adaptive nonlinear static procedures. Moreover, it does not suffer from the statistical combination of inelastic modal responses obtained separately. The results obtained from building frames have demonstrated that GPA is successful in estimating maximum member deformations and member forces with reference to the response history analysis. The seismic vulnerability of old multi‐storey reinforced concrete (R.C.) buildings reinforced with substandard details is assessed as a function of interstorey drift demand imposed by the design earthquake while considering brittle termination of elastic response of the critical members of the structure due to a premature shear failure. Interstorey drift demand is related to column and wall translational stiffnesses which are expressed through analytical derivations in terms of the floor area ratios of gravity and lateral load bearing members in the critical floor. Interstorey drift capacity is related to the available transverse reinforcement and the axial load ratio of the vertical members. The significance of the area ratio of vertical members in the typical floor as an index of vulnerability is explored with reference to the limitations in the value of axial load ratio used in R.C. design in order to secure ductile flexural behavior, and also with reference to the stability index of gravity load bearing members. Interstorey Drift Spectra are derived for the existing R.C. buildings suitable for rapid seismic vulnerability screening but also as a guide for rehabilitation of the existing structures. Lightly reinforced or substandard reinforced concrete buildings that reportedly collapsed during previous earthquakes are used as example case studies in order to calibrate the proposed methodology.
