Constraints on the use of phytoplankton as a biological quality element within the Water Framework Directive in Portuguese waters 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
The European Union Water Framework Directive (WFD), a new regulation aiming to achieve and maintain a clean and well-managed water environment, refers to phytoplankton as one of the biological quality elements that should be regularly monitored, and upon which the reference conditions of water quality should be established. However, the use of phytoplankton as a biological quality element will result in several constraints, which are analyzed in this article with examples from Portuguese waters. Specifically, the establishment of reference conditions of water quality may be difficult in some water bodies for which no historical data exists. The sampling frequency proposed for phytoplankton monitoring does not seem suitable to assess phytoplankton succession, and may preclude the detection of algal blooms. Finally, the use of chlorophyll a as a proxy of phytoplankton biomass and abundance has been proposed by some authors, but it may overlook blooms of pico- and small nanophytoplankton, and overestimate the importance of large microphytoplankton. Furthermore, most studies in Portugal have used only inverted microscopy for phytoplankton observation and quantification; this method does not permit the distinction between autotrophic and heterotrophic cells, especially in samples preserved with Lugol's solution, and does not allow the observation of smaller-sized cells. Finally, some techniques, such as remote sensing and chemotaxonomic analysis, are proposed to be used as supplements in phytoplankton monitoring programs. 相似文献

661 m to 2002.5 m. A spontaneous outflow of water with temperatures reaching 87.8 °C was obtained. Thermal logging revealed
97.7 °C at 1870 m. These results are consistent with earlier estimates based on various chemical geothermometers that indicated
water temperatures in the lower parts of the geothermal system possibly exceeding 100 °C. This was also confirmed by the
cationic composition geothermometer. The estimates based on the dependence of saturation indices on temperature did not prove
correct, suggesting 65 °C as the most probable maximum temperature of the water.

The present paper reports five species of squat lobster, genus Agononida Baba and de Saint Laurent, 1996, of which A. squamosa (Henderson, 1885) and A. cf. variabilis (Baba, 1988) were not previously reported in Chinese waters. All the specimens are kept in the Marine Biological Museum collection in the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao. 以应用HJ-1A星数据进行近海水体定量反演为目的,对HJ-1A星CCD的星上定标系数的精度进行验证,并基于Landsat-5TM数据对其进行交叉定标。在此基础上反演近海水体的反射率,将反演结果与实测水体反射率进行比较发现:对HJ-1A星CCD数据进行交叉定标能在一定程度上能提高近海水体反射率反演的精度。结果表明,HJ-1A星CCD影像的星上定标系数不够精确,在利用该数据进行近海水体的定量反演研究时,需要利用交叉定标对星上定标参数进行修正。 相似文献

舟山朱家尖海域污损生物的分布特征及其与环境因子的关系 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
根据2007年3月至2008年2月在舟山朱家尖蜈蚣客运码头进行的污损生物挂板试验,对该海域污损生物的种类组成、附着季节、生物量分布及生态特点进行了初步研究。结果表明:该海域共鉴定出污损生物85种,其中,藻类13种,腔肠动物13种,苔藓虫4种,多毛类12种,软体动物8种,甲壳类22种和其它13种。优势种为中胚花筒螅Tubularia mesembryanthemum、泥藤壶Balanus uliginosus、白脊藤壶Balanus albicostatus、僧帽牡蛎Saccostrea cucullata、近江牡蛎Crassostrea rivularis、马尔他钩虾Melita sp.、圆鳃麦杆虫Caprella acutifrons、长鳃麦杆虫C.equilibra和盘管虫Hydroides sp.。朱家尖海域全年都有污损生物繁殖附着,其中6—10月为附着盛期,表层和中层月板生物量的高峰值均出现在7月,最低值分别出现在2月和1月,表层月板全年附着总生物量为2 006.1g/m2,月平均生物量为167.18g/m2;中层月板全年附着总生物量为2 388.15g/m2,月平均生物量为199.01g/m2;季度板污损生物生物量按高低依次为:夏季>秋季>春季>冬季;上半年板污损生物的生物量>下半年板。在垂直分布上,除季度板外,其它试板的生物量和附着密度均为中层>表层。根据污损生物的生态习性、分布特征及对盐度的适应,可将舟山朱家尖海域主要污损生物定义为河口低盐种。水温是影响调查海域污损生物分布的主要因素,水体盐度则对朱家尖海域污损生物的种类及指标种分布具有决定性作用。 相似文献

Thirty kettle hole ponds located in agricultural landscape of western Poland were studied with respect to physico-chemical (temperature and pH) and chemical (SC, dissolved oxygen, concentration of nutrients) variables of surface water quality during two subsequent years. Most of the ponds selected for the study host populations of endangered large branchiopod crustaceans, thus the aim of the study was to find out the rules governing these ecosystems and infer the best ways to protect them. Precipitation during the first year of the study was close to the average for the region, whereas severe drought was recorded during the second year. The influence of water regime, morphological parameters, catchment characteristics and vegetation on the parameters of water (pH, conductivity, contents of O2, N-NH4, N-NO2, N-NO3, SRP and TP) separately for both years was tested using redundancy analyses (RDA). The results showed that the factors significantly explaining the variance in water chemistry differed between years of the study. In the year of average precipitation, the most important factors were related to the morphology of the pond and its catchment. In contrast, under drought conditions the factors connected with pond vegetation and water depth were significant. However, in general, hydroperiod length of the pond was the most important factor, significant in all the models created. 相似文献

卫星遥感是进行洲际或者全球尺度内陆水体信息提取的最有效、最为切实可行的技术手段。作为全球水资源较为匮乏的大洲,以遥感技术进行非洲内陆水体信息提取研究具有重要的应用价值。文章以2010年Landsat TM/ETM+卫星遥感影像数据为基础,辅以MODIS遥感影像,基于面向对象的分类方法,选用归一化差值水体指数(Normalized Difference Water Index,NDWI)及波段组合(Band 4/Band 2)进行水体信息提取。并根据不同气候区,选取4个典型区,监测年内水体的变化情况。结果表明:1)非洲内陆水体面积为311 479.2 km2,其中湖泊总面积为209 018.5 km2,占水体总面积的67.1%;河渠总面积64 550.1 km2,占20.7%;水库坑塘总面积37 910.7 km2,占12.2%。非洲拥有水库211个,总面积13 438.7 km2。2)撒哈拉以南的非洲是水体主要的分布区,统计分析表明约97%的水体分布在该地区。3)热带沙漠气候区湖泊面积呈减少趋势,热带草原气候区湖泊受干湿季节影响上下波动较大,热带雨林气候区和地中海气候区湖泊面积变化较小,总体上4个典型区水体面积变差系数<10%。 相似文献

Fecal pellet production rate and oxygen consumption rate of copepod fecal pellets egested by Paracalanus sp., Acartia spinicauda and Centropages orsinii feeding on a diatom Thalassiosira pseudonana were measured. Fecal pellet production rates varied between 3.6 and 80.6 pellets ind−1 d−1 among three species, with fecal pellet production of Paracalanus sp. significantly higher than the other two copepod species. Average pellet size varied between 2.82 × 105 μm3 for Paracalanus sp. and 5.36 × 105 μm3 for A. spinicauda. Average volumetric oxygen consumption rates were 27.32, 5.84 and 45 fmol O2 μm−3 d−1 for fecal pellets produced by Paracalanus sp., A. spinicauda and C. orsinii, respectively. The potential oxygen consumption of fecal pellets egested from Paracalanus sp. was the highest due to its high fecal pellet production rate and high population abundance throughout the year. Overall, the approximate in situ oxygen consumption due to copepod fecal pellet degradation was significant in estuarine and coastal waters of Hong Kong. Results of this study give insight of the role of zooplankton in potential occurrence of hypoxia in coastal waters during summer. 相似文献

水下考古已成为考古领域的重要组成部分。在中国沿海,尤其在古海上丝绸之路沿线,留存了大量前人活动的遗迹。水下考古需要使用高新探测设备,并配合合理的操作流程。本文以广东川岛水下考古为例,由多波束测深系统、浅地层剖面仪、侧扫声呐系统和磁力仪等新型高精度海洋物探设备构成水下考古系统,建立了水下考古的基本流程。川岛是古海上丝绸之路的重要泊靠点,在此次川山群岛海域考古调查中,根据多波束大规模覆盖和侧扫声呐拖曳式作业,在泥湾水道、打铁湾以及乌猪洲等处有新的发现,包括清代瓷器碎片和古代铁炮等。川岛水下考古文物的发现,对于进一步沿古海上丝绸之路的文物调查具有重要促进作用,也使水下考古得到更多关注。 相似文献
