Analysis of empirical data considered to be mixtures of a finite number of end members has been a topic of increasing interest recently. The algorithms EXTENDED CABFAC and QMODEL by Klovan and Miesch (1976) represent a satisfactory solution to this problem if pure end members are captured within the data set or if the composition of true end members are known a priori. Where neither condition is satisfied, the composition of external end members can, under certain conditions, be deduced from the structure of the data. Described herein is an algorithm termed EXTENDED QMODEL which defines feasible end members which are closest to the data envelope.This research was supported in part by a grant from the Office of Naval Research (N00014-78C-0698 Code 483). 相似文献

粉煤灰是火电厂燃煤的副产品,如何处理利用是国内外十分关注的问题。目前,解决这一问题的途径很多,利用粉煤灰进行筑坝或作为基础填筑材料是比较有效的消纳方法。粉煤灰是一种轻质、多孔松散体,在许多方面具有比较优越的工程性能,但因为纯的粉煤灰缺少必要的凝聚力,对水的反映较为敏感,从而对工程的安全运行造成不利影响。在粉煤灰中掺合不同量的黏土有望改善粉煤灰的工程性能,对不同掺土量粉煤灰力学特性的研究有助于更好促进粉煤灰的工程应用。以咸阳渭河电厂粉煤灰为研究对象,对其掺入不同比例的黄土掺合形成掺土粉煤灰,通过击实试验、压缩试验、直剪试验和三轴试验等研究不同掺土量下粉煤灰的工程特性,得到不同掺土量对粉煤灰变形及强度特性的影响规律,为在工程中有效利用粉煤灰,改善其工程性质提供参考。 相似文献

通过室内大型直剪试验和基于PFC2D的颗粒离散元数值模型,探讨考虑块石破碎的土石混合料的剪切特性及块石破碎特征。以土石混合料室内大型直剪试验和筛分试验为基础,提出了一种能真实描述块石形态特征并准确反映块石破碎效应的土石混合料颗粒离散元数值建模方法,模拟并分析了6种含石量土石混合料在4种不同法向应力作用下的剪切特性及块石破碎特征。结果表明:土石混合料抗剪强度随含石量的增大而增大,且基本符合摩尔-库仑(M-C)强度准则,随着含石量增大,内摩擦角呈现“慢-快-慢”增长趋势,黏聚力则呈现先增后减再增大的变化趋势。剪切后土石混合料块石破碎形式可归纳为表面研磨、局部破碎、完全破裂、完全破碎4种方式。提出了一种新的颗粒破碎指标,该指标能够准确描述粒径大于5 mm的块石的破碎程度,其随含石量和法向应力的增大而增大。通过对土石混合料颗粒离散元数值模型剪切面的分析发现,剪切面出现“剪斜”现象,其起伏程度随含石量增大愈加明显,且随着含石量增大剪切面附近剪裂隙数量增多,土石混合料在剪切过程中的破坏为拉-剪混合破坏。 相似文献

Summary. Gumbel's theory of extreme value has been employed in the statistical forecasting of maximum-magnitude earthquake occurrence. The basic working hypothesis behind this method assumes that observations follow either Gumbel type I or type III asymptotic distributions. In certain cases, however, it is found that neither type of distribution fits the data well enough to produce accurate parameter-estimates, particularly in the larger earthquake range. This article proposes an alternative approach based on finite-mixture distributions whereby a more realistic prediction of upper earthquake magnitudes (at given return periods) is expected using a combined analysis of both Gumbel types I and III extremal distributions. 相似文献

Waste materials such as waste tires, rubbers, and plastic materials are normally produced in every society, entering the environment
and causing serious problems. These problems may be somehow reduced by finding applications for them in engineering, for example,
as lightweight materials for backfill in geotechnical projects. To this aim, this paper demonstrates how shear strength characteristics
of sand mixed with various percentages of waste garden hose grains are altered. A relatively, uniform sand has been mixed
with waste hose grains in loose and slightly compacted states. Waste hose grains were prepared with special popular machinery
in a local area. Various sand-rubber mixtures having 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 50%, 70%, and 100% waste hose particles by weight
were chosen. The rubber grains were distributed in the sand such that uniform mixtures are obtained. In order to compare the
shear strength of different sand-rubber samples, two compaction states were considered. The results show that the influencing
parameters on shear strength characteristics of sand-rubber mixtures are normal stress, mixture unit weight, and rubber content.
With the selected waste hose particles, compaction states, and rubber contents, the initial friction angle φ1 does not change significantly. However, an apparent cohesion appears in the mixtures. From environmental point of view and
due to lightweight material for the sand-waste hose particles, it may be useful to use such materials in corresponding geotechnical
projects.

Modern scanning(near-)infrared reflectance/absorption(NIR)spectroscopes measure the absorptions orreflectances at a sequence of around 1000 wavelengths.Training data may consist of 10-100 carefullydesigned sample mixtures for which the true composition of the mixture is either known by formulationor accurately determined by wet chemistry.In future one wishes to predict the true composition fromthe spectrum.In this paper we compare a simple wavelength selection approach with methods whichretain all the wavelengths.It offers a powerful yet simple technique for choosing those wavelengths thatare specific to each pure component as against the other components(including the medium)for thevarying compositions.In the presence of a defined range of ingredients it thus chooses wavelengths whichare highly selective for each particular component.It has the added advantage of selecting wavelengthswhich are little effected by interaction effects and consequent non-linearities.The calibration data used consist of 125 observations of three sugars,each varying at five levels in afull 5~3 design.The validation set consists of 21 further samples specially selected to have compositionsoutside the range of the training sample.The selection methods perform much better on this predictionset than methods which retain all the wavelengths,700 in this case.The leave-one-out cross-validationinternal to the calibration data would point to the opposite finding and suggests that such cross-validations may be overly flattering to techniques such as partial least squares and may encourageoverfitting.After selection,simple straightforward least squares methods may be used,eschewing theneed for‘shrinkage’methods such as partial least squares or ridge regression. 相似文献

为了研究橡胶砂的剪切特性,采用室内大型直剪仪,研究了4种橡胶砂级配(1种间断级配、2种连续级配、1种开级配)、3种橡胶掺入量(10%、30%、60%)、3种竖向应力(30、60、90 kPa)对橡胶砂强度特性和体变特性的影响;并在室内直剪试验的基础上,按照相同级配和橡胶掺量建立纯砂和橡胶砂的离散元数值模型,从颗粒接触状态和颗粒位移角度探讨橡胶砂内在力学机制。研究结果表明:在低橡胶含量下,橡胶砂的剪应力曲线趋势和纯砂一致,但其抗剪强度均低于纯砂;橡胶砂剪切应力随竖向应力的增大而增大,4种级配的橡胶砂中连续级配SR2抗剪强度最高;橡胶颗粒的掺入能有效抑制砂土的剪胀,其中间断级配SR1橡胶砂抑制土体剪胀效果最好,剪胀量相较于纯砂减少了37.6%;橡胶砂的内摩擦角随着橡胶掺入量的增大而减小,同一橡胶掺量下连续级配SR2橡胶砂的内摩擦角最大;橡胶颗粒在橡胶砂力链网络中主要参与弱力链的形成,橡胶砂剪切带宽度小于纯砂的剪切带宽度。 相似文献

Sorting and selective transport of particles by material density is important for understanding a wide range of processes, including the formation of mineral placers, deposition of mine tailings and routing of tracers and contaminants. This article describes an experimental study of the transport of mixtures of particles of differing density in a sediment‐feed flume. During the runs, a downstream prograding wedge‐shaped deposit was formed. Results show two sorting processes: (i) longitudinal sorting characterized by preferential deposition of heavy particles in the upstream part of the deposit – downstream lightening; and (ii) vertical sorting with less dense particles preferentially deposited in the lowermost portion of the migrating front – upward heavying. Downstream lightening is the analogue of the well‐known downstream fining observed in the more studied case of mixtures of heterogeneous size with the same density. In both cases, the lighter particles are carried further downstream than the heavier particles. Upward heavying is unexpected when compared with deposits of heterogeneous size and same‐density particles, where the heaviest (i.e. coarsest) particles are deposited in the lowermost part of the front. The physical mechanism underlying this upward heavying might be related to the physics of gravity‐driven granular flows; the front of the deposit acts like a dense granular flow down an inclined plane. In this case, the denser particles settle away from the free surface and at the top of the heap, while the lighter particles flow to the bottom. As the front of the deposit advances, this progressively gives rise to an upward heavying pattern. The application of classical surface‐based fractional bedload transport models suggests that equal mobility is not approached in the case of mixtures of particles with uniform size and different densities. This study hypothesizes that other mechanics related to the physics of the segregation processes in these systems contribute to these results. 相似文献

目前,国内外对散粒体斜坡的防治措施研究甚少。笔者推荐注浆固坡工程防治技术,具有以动制动特点。本文通过室外注浆物理模拟实验,得出注浆后固结体形态有舌形、灵芝形、柱形、长倒锥形、短倒锥形,其有效半径分别是46.3cm、26cm、21.4cm、16.5cm、40cm、29.4cm。结合现场颗粒取样筛分实验,研究了散粒体堆积结构对注浆固坡措施的影响,提出颗粒间孔隙比的影响最为主要,并通过计算机优化回归得出注浆量及浆液扩散半径的公式;最后对固结体进行直剪试验,得出注浆后的散粒体强度增加,说明了注浆固坡工程的可行性和合理性。这对散粒体斜坡坡体实施注浆加固工程具有重大的参考价值。 相似文献
