High-pressure metamorphic rocks are exposed in Karangsambung area of central Java, Indonesia. They form part of a Cretaceous subduction complex (Luk–Ulo Complex) with fault-bounded slices of shale, sandstone, chert, basalt, limestone, conglomerate and ultrabasic rocks. The most abundant metamorphic rock type are pelitic schists, which have yielded late Early Cretaceous K–Ar ages. Small amounts of eclogite, glaucophane rock, garnet–amphibolite and jadeite–quartz–glaucophane rock occur as tectonic blocks in sheared serpentinite. Using the jadeite–garnet–glaucophane–phengite–quartz equilibrium, peak pressure and temperature of the jadeite–quartz–glaucophane rock are P  = 22 ± 2 kbar and T  = 530 ± 40 °C. The estimated P–T conditions indicate that the rock was subducted to ca 80 km depth, and that the overall geothermal gradient was ∼ 7.0 °C/km. This rock type is interpreted to have been generated by the metamorphism of cold oceanic lithosphere subducted to upper mantle depths. The exhumation from the upper mantle to lower or middle crustal depths can be explained by buoyancy forces. The tectonic block is interpreted to be combined with the quartz–mica schists at lower or middle crustal depths.  相似文献

The petrogenetic grid between the eclogite and other high-pressure/temperature (P/T) metamorphic facies in a basaltic system is constructed by considering barroisite as one of the important phases in high-P/T metamorphism and by using previous petrological data combined with Schreinemakers' analysis and slope calculation. In the constructed petrogenetic grid, the eclogite facies is bounded by the blueschist and epidote–amphibolite facies with negative-slope reactions at lower temperatures (450–550 °C) and by the epidote–amphibolite, amphibolite and granulite facies with positive-slope reactions at higher temperatures (> 550–600 °C). The eclogite facies does not contact the greenschist facies, and the lowest P condition for the eclogite facies exists at the boundary between the eclogite and epidote–amphibolite facies. The temperature range of the epidote–amphibolite facies increases with increasing pressure until 8–11 kbar and then decreases up to 13–15 kbar. Compared to boundaries of other facies, boundaries of the eclogite facies may have wider P–T ranges. The boundary between the blueschist and eclogite facies occurs over a large temperature range from 450 to 620 ± 30 °C, and the transitions between the eclogite and amphibolite or high-pressure granulite facies occur over a pressure range in excess of 6–10 kbar.  相似文献

The Ina district of the Ryoke Belt is divided into two mineral zones, based on the mineral parageneses of the pelitic and psammitic rocks at the peak metamorphism. A biotite–muscovite zone (quartz + plagioclase + biotite + muscovite with or without K-feldspar) constitutes the northwestern part, and a biotite–cordierite–K-feldspar zone (quartz + plagioclase + biotite + cordierite + K-feldspar) comprises the central to southern and eastern parts. The isograd reaction between two mineral zones is defined by a divariant reaction: Mg-rich biotite + muscovite + quartz = Fe-rich biotite + cordierite + K-feldspar + H2O (1), which, in the K2O–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2O (KFMASH) system, occurs at ∼ 590 °C at 0.2 GPa and 660 °C at 0.4 GPa. Fibrolite accompanied by andalusite porphyroblasts in aluminous pelitic rocks of the biotite–muscovite zone and the low-grade part of the biotite–cordierite–K-feldspar zone, suggests that sillimanite was the stable aluminosilicate at the peak metamorphic condition throughout the area. In the high-grade part of the biotite–cordierite–K-feldspar zone, fibrolite mostly occurs as inclusions in cordierite or in plagioclase. The phase relations and the compositional zoning of plagioclase in relation to fibrolite inclusions suggest that fibrolite was formed under relatively high-pressure conditions, and that partial melting took place.  相似文献

在辽东-吉南地区存在两个性质不同的变质地体:辽北地体和辽南地体,二者之间以断裂带或韧性剪切带相接。辽北地体包括北辽河群和老岭群,辽南地体包括南辽河群和集安群。不同变质地体内的早元古代变质岩系在地层系统及岩石组合、原岩建造及沉积环境、变质作用类型及pTt轨迹、区域构造和岩浆活动等方面都存在明显的差别。它们在早元古代时期形成于不同的大陆边缘,具有完全不同的形成条件和演化历史。两个变质地体最晚在早元古代晚期经构造作用拼贴在一起。  相似文献

The Late Archean Fuping Group of the Xiaojiao area in Pingshan Couty,Hebei Province consists mainly of three metamorphic rock types of supracrustal affinity,i.e.,Kfeldspar leucoleptite,biotite leptite-gneiss and hornblendic rocks.Their anatectic derivatives formed in the initial stage of anatexis are petrochemically of K-feldspar granitic trondhjemitic and granodioritic compositions respectively,and in general have inherted the main petrochemical featurews from their parent rock types,Probably due to the fact that they contain less REE rich accessory minerals as compared with their parent rocks,the anatectic derivatives are in general lower in EREE content,But both the derivatives and their parent rocks have similar REE patterns,which serves as an additional indication of the genetic relationship between them.  相似文献

A sodium bentonite is being used in the basal-isolation of landfills installed on strongly fractured granitic rocks of N Portugal (NW Iberia). To evaluate the performance of this clay as the ultimate impermeable basal barrier, a detailed study was carried out of the granite fracture network; the Na-bentonite was tested to characterize its mechanical and geotechnical behavior; geophysical surveys were made to search for landfill leakage and the waters found around the landfill were geochemically characterized. Fractures in the granite are usually open and devoid of mineral infillings or clay materials and, thus, permeability of the granite is very high. Dispersal of contaminants can be further enhanced by the position of the landfill on a high steep-sided ridge. Geophysical and geochemical data show evidence for seepage and dispersion of pollutants, which means that the clay failed as an ultimate isolation barrier against seepage. This investigation shows that this can be due to fracturing of the clay under load and/or to its non-homogeneous saturation and extreme shrinking character upon drying, which are accompanied by the formation of extensive cracking. Observations and experimental results suggest that the use of synthetic clays in the safe building of landfill bottom liners needs further research, and extreme care should be taken in preventing that clay water content suffers large variations after saturation, as this process considerably degrades the mechanical behavior and sealing properties of the studied Na-bentonite.  相似文献

Abstract Whole-rock and mineral analyses of polydeformed mica-schist, quartzite, marble and amphibolite are presented from Signy Island, South Orkney Islands, part of the Scotia metamorphic complex. Whole-rock chemistry suggests that the amphibolites are the metamorphosed equivalent of enriched tholeiitic and alkali basalts of an oceanic intraplate basalt series. These, together with limestones and Mn-rich cherts of an oceanic island assemblage were tectonically mixed with trench or trench inner slope basin sediments in a subduction zone environment. Variation in mineral chemistry indicates an increase in temperature and decrease in pressure during metamorphism; pressures of 8 kbar and temperatures of approximately 545°C were reached during amphibolite facies metamorphism in the latter stages of deformation. These new data provide good evidence to support the previous interpretation of the Scotia metamorphic complex as a subduction complex.  相似文献

The tectonic interpretation of basement structures in seismic reflection profiles from ocean-continent transitions (OCT) of magma-poor rifted margins is notoriously difficult due to the scarcity of borehole information. Low-angle intra-basement reflections are frequently interpreted as detachment faults, and in certain locations the drilled top of the basement is interpreted as exhumed detachment fault. The seismic expression of such detachment faults is, however, poorly understood. We address this problem by comparing synthetic seismic data from the Tasna OCT, an exposed remnant of a Tethyan margin, with seismic reflection data from Hobby High, a drilled basement high within the west Iberian margin. Both sites are widely considered as being representative of OCT zones. Their geological similarity and the complementary nature of the data enable us to perform a detailed investigation of the seismic structure and response of these OCT zones. This provides insights into the seismic imaging of OCT zones in general and the tectonic evolution of the associated detachment systems in particular. On the basis of the Tasna OCT models and their seismic responses we have identified some potential characteristics of intra- and top-basement detachments: (i) variable amplitudes and numerous diffractions from the top of exhumed subcontinental mantle, (ii) a continuous and strong reflection imaging the top of exhumed lower crustal rocks, and (iii) a weak and discontinuous reflection of inverse polarity representing a shallow intra-basement crust-mantle detachment. Similar features are consistently observed at geologically equivalent positions in the seismic data from Hobby High and may thus serve as guidelines for interpretation of seismic data from un-drilled OCT zones.  相似文献
