The landscape of Antarctica, hidden beneath kilometre-thick ice in most places, has been shaped by the interactions between tectonic and erosional processes. The flow dynamics of the thick ice cover deepened pre-formed topographic depressions by glacial erosion, but also preserved the subglacial landscapes in regions with moderate to slow ice flow. Mapping the spatial variability of these structures provides the basis for reconstruction of the evolution of subglacial morphology. This study focuses on the Jutulstraumen Glacier drainage system in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica. The Jutulstraumen Glacier reaches the ocean via the Jutulstraumen Graben, which is the only significant passage for draining the East Antarctic Ice Sheet through the western part of the Dronning Maud Land mountain chain. We acquired new bed topography data during an airborne radar campaign in the region upstream of the Jutulstraumen Graben to characterise the source area of the glacier. The new data show a deep relief to be generally under-represented in available bed topography compilations. Our analysis of the bed topography, valley characteristics and bed roughness leads to the conclusion that much more of the alpine landscape that would have formed prior to the Antarctic Ice Sheet is preserved than previously anticipated. We identify an active and deeply eroded U-shaped valley network next to largely preserved passive fluvial and glacial modified landscapes. Based on the landscape classification, we reconstruct the temporal sequence by which ice flow modified the topography since the beginning of the glaciation of Antarctica. 相似文献

Detrital zircon crystals from beach and were subjected to morphology and Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) analysis to assess the efficacy of the zircon composition as a provenance indicator. The inclusions of rutile and sillimanite in the lattice of the zircon support metamorphic growth. Zircon grains from relatively dry alkalic and igneous rocks tend to be dominated by {100} and {101} forms, whereas those from aluminous to calc-alkaline rocks exhibit various combinations of forms, with a predominance of {211}, and those from water-rich granites and pegmatites tend to have {110} and {101} as their dominant forms. Prismatic faces develop from zircon mainly due to the temperature of the crystallisation, but the pyramidal faces were linked to chemical factors. Light group Rare Earth Element (LREE) is enriched relative to Heavy group Rare Earth Element (HREE) in zircon. It shows significant negative anomalies in Eu, Co, Rb, and Cs and positive anomalies in V, Zn, Sr, Y, Nb, and Ba. The negative anomaly of Eu is maybe due to the redox condition operative at the time of zircon crystallisation from magma, where most of the Eu could be in Eu2+ state. The ratio of the Zr/Hf in detrital zircon shows a range of values between 6.56 and 6.25%. This supports the idea of the role ascribed to mafic rocks for the parentage of southwest coastal placer deposits. 相似文献

Two new genera and species of fossil Palaeontinidae are described from Daohugou Village, Inner Mongolia, China: Cladocossus undulatus gen. et sp. nov. and Cricocossus paradoxus gen. et sp. nov. Both new genera are described based on well-preserved forewings. This discovery confirms the high diversity of palaeontinids during the Middle Jurassic. Both specimens have interesting modal structures which are new to Palaeontinidae: M five-branched and M3 with two branches. Based on this character, wing structural characteristic is discussed. 相似文献

采用微波等离子体化学气相沉淀法合成了单晶金刚石膜,探索了化学气相沉淀法(CVD)单晶金刚石膜的生长机理。实验仪器采用石英管式微波等离子体化学气相沉积装置,种晶为3颗IaAB型天然金刚石原石,生长面近平行于(111)和(110)方向,生长温度为800℃,压力约为6kPa,时间约为8h。使用宝石显微镜和环境扫描电子显微镜观察分析了CVD单晶金刚石膜的生长表面形貌。结果表明,在生长面上可见明显的生长层,生长晶体无色透明,CVD单晶金刚石膜在生长面上横向外延生长,并形成定向的台阶状表面——“阶梯流”。在相同的条件下,(111)方向上生长的CVD单晶金刚石膜比(110)方向上的更有序。H2浓度的大小对CVD单晶金刚石膜的质量有影响。 相似文献

海螺沟冰川是我国典型的温冰川之一,对100 a来各种观测资料的分析发现:海螺沟冰川自1823年以来末端海拔上升300 m,年均升高1.64 m,20世纪以来末端海拔上升速度加快;在20世纪呈现明显的退缩变化,76 a冰川后退1 821.8 m,年均后退24 m.运用冰川学方法恢复了海螺沟冰川45a来的物质平衡变化,45 a累积物质平衡值为-10 825.5 mm(水当量),年均平衡值为-240.6 mm(水当量).在全球变暖影响下,冰川雪线不断上升,冰川活动强烈,导致冰面形态发生了明显变化,具体表现为:冰川厚度不断变薄、大冰瀑布上出现巨大塌陷洞穴、冰面丘融化变形、冰面径流不断变大、冰川弧拱区裂隙密布等,冰川内部的径流冲刷和冰川表面的剧烈消融是海螺沟冰川表面形态发生显著变化的主要机制.总之,在全球变暖背景下,该冰川表现出以亏损为特征的退缩变化趋势. 相似文献

This paper presents data concerning recent (1990–2007) surface morphological and ice-dynamical changes on the Tasman Glacier, New Zealand. We use remote-sensing data to derive rates of lake growth, glacier velocities and rates of glacier surface lowering. Between 1990 and 2007, the glacier terminus receded ~ 3.5 km and a large ice-contact proglacial lake developed behind the outwash head. By 2007 the lake area was ~ 6 km2 and had replaced the majority of the lowermost 4 km of the glacier tongue. There is evidence that lake growth is proceeding at increasing rates — the lake area doubled between 2000 and 2007 alone. Measured horizontal glacier velocities decline from 150 m a− 1 in the upper glacier catchment to almost zero at the glacier terminus and there is a consequent down-glacier increase in surface debris cover. Surface debris mapping shows that a large catastrophic rockfall onto the glacier surface in 1991 is still evident as a series of arcuate debris ridges below the Hochstetter icefall. Calculated glacier surface lowering is most clearly pronounced around the terminal area of the glacier tongue, with down-wasting rates of 4.2 ± 1.4 m a− 1 in areas adjacent to the lateral moraine ridges outside of the current lake extent. Surface lowering rates of approximately 1.9 ± 1.4 m a− 1 are common in the upper areas of the glacier. Calculations of future lake expansion are dependent on accurate bathymetric and bed topography surveys, but published data indicate that a further 8–10 km of the glacier is susceptible to calving and further lake development in the future. 相似文献

金属矿山由于其矿体形态多变、地质条件复杂、多非充分采动、开采方法多样、构造应力显著及结构效应明显等特点,难以把握由地下采矿引起的地表变形和岩体的破坏形式。以程潮铁矿东区为例,依据近年(2010年3月至2015年9月)的地表变形实测数据,绘制出相应的监测成果图。结合三维激光扫描等新技术再现地表变形三维盆地,探究了地下开采影响下的地表变形规律和机制。对矿区上下盘地表变形规律等进行了比较分析,结果表明:程潮铁矿东区在采矿初期发生筒状冒落;变形传递到地表后,在采空区正上方形成大小不等的漏斗状塌坑群。上盘地表变形扩展与采矿推进度有较好的对应关系;水平应力是岩体变形的主动力,应力不断释放影响着地表变形特征。结构面倾向改变了上、下盘岩体的破坏形式,减缓和加速了上下盘岩体的破坏。同时,在坡体形态的影响下,地表变形在下坡方向总变形量增大和垂直变形增量更大。 相似文献
