ABSTRACT The Charleston Estuarine System Stock (CESS) of common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) has been the focus of population monitoring for the past 20 years. Photo-id studies have determined abundance and survival estimates for this population, which exhibits high site fidelity in this area. However, fine-scale distribution, utilization patterns, and the driving forces behind these patterns are lacking. Using historical photo-id data and a novel application of geographic information system (GIS) analysis, the present study identified core use areas within Charleston Harbor, as well as patterns specific to sexes and seasons. Photo-id data of 319 dolphins sighted 11 times or more during 2004–2009 were analyzed. Heat maps were developed to examine spatial distributions using kernel density estimates (KDE) and were compared between sexes and seasons. Multiple high-density core use areas were identified for this population, with the most noteworthy near the mouth of the harbor toward the Atlantic Ocean. Fine-scale distribution varied across sexes, as well as seasons. Some areas were identified as more specifically inhabited by one sex, while other areas overlapped between sexes. Females were more tightly concentrated within their distribution while males were more dispersed. Although population distribution varied across seasons, sex distributions remained. 相似文献

模糊C均值聚类是一种经典的非监督聚类模型,成功地应用于遥感影像分类。但是该方法对初始值敏感,容易陷入局部最优解;同时聚类时仅考虑光谱信息,忽略了空间信息。本文提出了一种新的基于马尔科夫随机场的模糊C均值聚类方法,该方法把马尔科夫随机场和模糊C均值结合在一起。初始值依据第一主成分的密度函数确定,这样克服了对初始值的依赖性,又在聚类的时候考虑了空间信息。通过实例数据验证,所提出的方法分类精度优于传统的模糊C均值模型。 相似文献

Solving the geodetic boundary-value problem (GBVP) for the precise determination of the geoid requires proper use of the fundamental equation of physical geodesy as the boundary condition given on the geoid. The Stokes formula and kernel are the result of spherical approximation of this fundamental equation, which is a violation of the proper relation between the observed quantity (gravity anomaly) and the sought function (geoid). The violation is interpreted here as the improper formulation of the boundary condition, which implies the spherical Stokes kernel to be in error compared with the proper kernel of integral transformation. To remedy this error, two correction kernels to the Stokes kernel were derived: the first in both closed and spectral forms and the second only in spectral form. Contributions from the first correction kernel to the geoid across the globe were [−0.867 m, +1.002 m] in the low-frequency domain implied by the GRIM4-S4 purely satellite-derived geopotential model. It is a few centimeters, on average, in the high-frequency domain with some exceptions of a few meters in places of high topographical relief and sizable geological features in accordance with the EGM96 combined geopotential model. The contributions from the second correction kernel to the geoid are [−0.259 m, +0.217 m] and [−0.024 m, +0.023 m] in the low- and high-frequency domains, respectively. 相似文献

A multidimensional version of the nonstationary minimum variance spectral estimator has been developed. The numerical results have shown that this method has more resolution power than the conventional nonstationary spectral estimation methods based on periodograms. The application of the spectral estimation method to an irregularly sampled multidimensional nonstationary rainfall mode is also investigated.
