The unit cell idealization has been long adopted in the settlement prediction of stone column-reinforced soils. This paper
tests the accuracy of this modeling concept against trusted settlement values of engineering foundations. It is believed that in order to bestow the outcome of this study adequate generality
different soil properties and foundation geometries need to be considered. It was, nevertheless, found impracticable to collect
field settlement records for all the analyzed cases. The authors, therefore, appealed to the back analysis concept to construct
a reliable mathematical model, calibrated against settlement records of full-scale field load test. This model, which is capable
of reproducing the real field settlements, is then employed as a generic tool to obtain trusted settlement values for a variety of cases with essential geometrical similarity. The investigation revealed that the unit
cell analysis may, in some cases, lead to erroneous estimation for the settlements of foundations with limited extents. Correction

This paper examines the quasi-static cyclic behavior,lateral strength and equivalent damping capacities of a system of post-tensioned segmental bridge columns tied with large diameter martensitic Shape Memory Alloy(SMA) link-bars.Moment-curvature constitutive relationships are formulated and analysis tools are developed for the PT column,including a modified four-spring model prepared for the SMA bars.The suggested system is exemplified using a column with an aspect ratio of 7.5 and twelve 36.5 mm diameter NiTi martensitic SMA bars.A post-tensioning force of 40% to 60% of the tendon yield strength is applied in order to obtain a self re-centering system,considering the residual stress of the martensitic SMA bars.The cyclic response results show that the lateral strength remains consistently around 10% of the total vertical load and the equivalent viscous damping ratios reach 10%-12% of critical.When large diameter NiTi superelastic SMA bars are incorporated into the column system,the cyclic response varies substantially.The creep behavior of the superelastic SMA bar is accounted for since it affects the re-centering capability of the column.Two examples are presented to emphasize the modeling sensitivities for these special bars and quantify their cyclic behavior effects within the column assembly. 相似文献

为进一步研究真实火灾工况下钢管混凝土组合框架的抗火性能,基于有限元软件ABAQUS建立了单层单跨圆形钢管混凝土柱-组合梁平面框架经历火灾全过程的数值分析模型。通过合理选取热工参数,进行了组合框架在ISO-834标准升降温曲线下的热传分析,研究了组合框架钢管混凝土柱与组合梁截面温度场的变化规律;在热传模型的基础上,通过合理选取材料本构模型、单元类型、边界条件以及网格划分等,对经历常温加载、升温、降温以及火灾后的钢管混凝土柱-组合梁平面框架的力学性能进行初步探讨。结果表明,由于钢筋混凝土楼板在受火过程中的吸热与约束作用使组合框架在受火后仍具有较高承栽力。该方法可进一步完善钢管混凝土结构抗火分析理论,也可供实际工程应用参考。 相似文献

对碎石桩复合地基进行完全耦合的三维有效应力动力分析,探讨了碎石桩桩径、桩长和桩间距等设计参数对碎石桩复合地基抗液化性能的影响。结果表明,浅层范围内桩长对孔压比的影响较小,随深度的增大,桩长的影响有增大的趋势;在其他条件不变的情况下,随桩径的增大,桩间土中的超孔隙水压力降低,桩径对超孔压发展的影响沿深度方向不同,主要表现在中下部;当仅改变桩间距时,随桩间距的增大,桩间土中的超孔压升高,在工程设计时,桩径与桩间距的比值宜大于0.27,即桩间距的设计值不宜超过3.75D(D为碎石桩桩径);随碎石桩本身渗透系数的增加,复合地基中不同深度处的超孔压都有所降低,并且随深度的增大,这种影响有增大的趋势。 相似文献

Post‐earthquake reconnaissance has reported the vulnerability of older reinforced concrete (RC) columns lacking details for ductile response. Research was undertaken to investigate the full‐range structural hysteretic behavior of older RC columns. A two‐dimensional specimen frame, composed of nonductile and ductile columns to allow for load redistribution, was subjected to a unidirectional base motion on a shaking table until global collapse was observed. The test demonstrates two types of column failure, including flexure‐shear and pure flexural failure. Test data are compared with various simplified assessment models commonly used by practicing engineers and researchers to identify older buildings that are at high risk of structural collapse during severe earthquake events. Comparison suggests that ASCE/SEI 41‐06 produces very conservative estimates on load–deformation relations of flexure‐shear columns, while the recently proposed ASCE/SEI 41‐06 update imposes significant modifications on the predictive curve, so that improved accuracy has been achieved.
