Sea surface height (SSH) as measured by satellites has become a powerful tool for oceanographic and climate related studies. Whereas in the open ocean good accuracy has been achieved, more energetic dynamics and a number of calibration problems have limited applications over continental shelves and near the coast. Tidal ranges in the Southwestern Atlantic (SWA) continental shelf are among the highest in the world ocean, reaching up to 12 m at specific locations. This fact highlights the relevance of the accuracy of the tidal correction that must be applied to the satellite data to be useful in the region. In this work, amplitudes and phases of tidal constituents are extracted from five global tide models and three regional models and compared to the corresponding harmonics estimated from coastal tide gauges (TGs) and satellite altimetry data. The Root Sum Square (RSS) of the misfit of the common set of the five tidal constituents solved by the models (M2, N2, S2, K1 and O1) is higher than 18 cm close to the coast for two of the regional models and higher than 24.5 cm for the rest of the models considered. Both values are too high to provide an accurate estimation of geostrophic non-tidal currents from satellite altimetry in the coastal region. On the other hand, the global model with the highest spatial resolution has a RSS lower than 4.5 cm over the continental shelf even when the non-linear M4 overtide is considered. Comparison with in-situ current measurements suggests that this model can be used to de-tide altimetry data to compute large-scale patterns of SSH and associated geostrophic velocities. It is suggested that a local tide model with very high resolution that assimilates in-situ and satellite data should meet the precision needed to estimate geostrophic velocities at a higher resolution both close to the coast and over the Patagonian shelf.  相似文献

Within the context of the southwestern Barents Sea, the southern Stappen High and its transition to the Bjørnøya Basin are still underexplored. Improved quality seismic reflection data are utilised to describe new insights into the Paleozoic to early Cenozoic tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the area, as well as to discuss the structural inheritance and the rift development. Well-defined syn-rift wedges and better resolution images for both the deep Carboniferous and Permian successions are revealed. In particular, both the mid-Carboniferous and Late Permian-earliest Triassic extensional phases are characterized by widespread NE-SW oriented normal faults that are mostly westward dipping. Although Triassic is mostly considered as a tectonically stable period in the Barents Sea, in the southern Stappen High there is clear identification of a localised depocentre (named herein “Intra Stappen Basin”) where syn-tectonic geometries characterize the upper Paleozoic and Triassic deposits. Regional correlation to Middle and Upper Triassic outcrops in southwestern Svalbard reveals possible progradation from a west-northwest Northeast Greenland provenance as a western sediment source area during the Triassic, in addition to the well-known eastern sediment source area. Thin but distinct Jurassic sequences are expected to be present on Stappen High associated with prominent regional NW-SE extension throughout Late Jurassic that culminated during the earliest Cretaceous. Furthermore, structural and stratigraphic relations are observed within the study area that clearly indicate a distinct early Aptian rift phase with increasing evidence for its occurrence in the southwestern Barents Sea. Upper Cretaceous sequences bounded by major low-angle west-dipping detachment faults are observed in southwest Stappen High. During early Cenozoic, the study area was located at the proximity of the paleo-coastline and paleo-shelf edge for both Paleocene and Eocene gravity mass-waste deposits. These are most probably related to a progressively evolving steep bathymetric gradient between the developing margin, mainly towards the west and to the south, and the uplifted Stappen High.  相似文献

Surface and gravity-cored sediments were collected from the Kaoping coastal area off southwestern Taiwan to determine particle size, organic carbon, trace metal concentration and enrichment factor (EF), 210Pb dating, and 206Pb/207Pb ratio for determining present and historical metal pollution. Surface distributions of trace metals ranged from 0.02 to 0.13 mg/kg for Cd (EF: 0.16-1.65), from 35 to 189 mg/kg for Cr (EF: 0.85-2.92), from 25 to 64 mg/kg for Ni (EF: 0.53-2.38), from 10 to 32 mg/kg for Pb (EF: 1.20-4.94), and from 29 to 129 mg/kg for Zn (EF: 1.18-3.50). Trace metal concentrations correlate closely with distributions of mud (<63 microm) and organic carbon which accumulate largely around river mouths and within the Kaoping Canyon. With the exception of Cd, Cr and Ni in certain areas with rather coarse sediments, metals were generally elevated above the baseline levels over the studied area. Metals were also relatively enriched in areas with high contents of mud and organic carbon. Sedimentation rates derived from the excess 210Pb data in core sediments sampled from the canyon illustrate metal pollution beginning around 1970 that is corresponding to the booming time of economic growth in Taiwan. Meanwhile, the status of Pb pollution in core sediments is verified by an inversed correlation between 206Pb/207Pb ratios and Pb concentrations. Anthropogenic Pb and other metals in the studied area were apparently derived primarily from the Kaoping River and accumulated around the river mouth and within the Kaoping Canyon. The Kaoping Canyon appears to act as a major sink for river borne trace metals.  相似文献

西昆仑山新生代隆升变形过程对于中亚的地貌与水系演化、资源和能源矿产分布、气候及环境变迁等都具有重要的影响,然而至今尚没有形成统一的认识。西昆仑山新生代初始隆升与变形的时间存在三种不同观点,分别为古新世、中—晚始新世、渐新世末期—中新世早期。本文通过对塔西南地区地层学、沉积学、物源分析和热年代学的研究综述,详细讨论了西昆仑山古新世、中—晚始新世隆升变形的时间、证据、解释和争议。在此基础上,确定了西昆仑山在古新世发生了隆升变形,中—晚始新世是新生代变形中的一个加速节点。这两期隆升变形分别对应于印度—亚洲大陆初始碰撞、新特提斯洋俯冲板片断离的远程响应,反映了印度板块向北的碰撞拼贴与持续挤压的过程。  相似文献

The slipper limpet Bostrycapulus odites has recently been reported as an introduced species on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Another species in the family Calyptraeidae, Crepidula fornicata, is a problematic invasive species in the Northeast Atlantic, which makes the closely related Bostrycapulus introduction a matter of concern. Information on the biology of B. odites in its natural environment can facilitate predictions on where the species could find favourable conditions for settlement and expansion. Size and sex were recorded for individuals in four populations over 2600 km of the Southwestern Atlantic shoreline, in Argentina and Brazil, covering the whole native latitudinal range of this widely distributed species. Animals were collected by hand in the intertidal or by SCUBA in subtidal locations; specimens were examined to determine shell length, sex, and the presence and number of brooded egg capsules in females. Mean shell length for the whole population did not differ significantly among populations. However, this species experiences sequential hermaphroditism (protandrism), and the size at sexual maturity (minimum male size) increased significantly with latitude. The fecundity of females at all sites increased with size, and the number of brooded egg capsules as well as the average size of capsules was larger in bigger individual females; however, mean fecundity varied among sites independent of mean female body size. This limpet species modifies its reproductive traits with local conditions, and sexual characters develop earlier in more temperate localities.  相似文献

The study in this paper determined whole rock major and trace elements, zircon U-Pb age and Hf, O isotopes of 5 mafic dikes in the southwestern Fujian province. The 5 dikes are mainly diabase and the whole rock SiO2 content are between 45%~53%. Most zircons of the mafic dikes display obvious oscillatory zoning and fan-shaped zoning, and have the typical magmatic zircon crystallization characteristics. Zircon U-Pb age is dispersed with 96~2 400 Ma range. In addition to the minimum age (96~142 Ma) which might be the age of the formation of dikes, the remaining are captured zircon. The captured zircon age was mainly distributed in 4 groups: Early Proterozoic (2 467~1 796 Ma); Middle and late Proterozoic (1 343~647 Ma); Silurian to late Triassic Epoch (427~225 Ma); and Late Jurassic (159~140 Ma). Hf-O isotope shows that the early Proterozoic zircon was derived from the mantle of the homogeneous chondrite reservoir, and the others show magmatic mixing characteristics between depleted mantle and crust. Zircon’s εHf(t) and δ18O of the early Late Cretaceous clearly show the mixing trend of depleted mantle and crustal magma. The peak of zircon Hf two-stage depleted mantle model age TDM2 was mainly distributed in the 1.6~1.9 Ga. The Early Proterozoic mafic crust might be the main source for latter granite.  相似文献

鄂尔多斯盆地西南部延长组物源及其演化是进行区域原盆恢复和认识区域构造演化及华北克拉通西部破坏的关键。本文以鄂尔多斯盆地西南部汭水河地区晚三叠世延长组砂岩为研究对象,采用锆石LA-ICP-MS测年方法,通过砂岩样品中碎屑锆石U-Pb年龄及其变化,结合区域背景及古水流资料,系统地研究了盆地西南部延长组物源及其演化。研究认为,晚三叠世早期(231~225Ma),盆地西南部延长组沉积物源主要为盆地东北部阜平杂岩及盆地北部的海西期岩浆岩,部分搬运来的物质与来自秦祁造山带的剥蚀物质一起经宝鸡—武都裂陷槽流入松潘—甘孜地区;晚三叠世中期(225~218Ma),来自秦岭造山带的挤压开始增强,盆地西南部延长组地层中来自南缘秦岭造山带的物源开始增加,盆地西南部沉积物源开始与松潘—甘孜地区出现明显差别,宝鸡—武都裂陷槽开始关闭;至晚三叠世晚期(218~210Ma),秦岭与祁连造山带完成拼贴,宝鸡—武都裂陷槽最终完全关闭。  相似文献

鄂西南利川地区三叠纪须家河组砂岩碎屑颗粒富石英(Q),贫岩屑(L)与长石(F),平均值分别为:76.23%、7.08%与4.88%,Q/(Q+F+L)平均值为0.86,具有锆石-板钛矿-磁铁矿-电气石重矿物组合,指示源岩以酸性岩或低级变质岩为主。砂岩主量元素Si O2含量高(77.14%~92.79%,平均84.14%),Al2O3次之(3.86%~14.15%,平均9.69%),(Fe2O3T+Mg O)*(0.98%~3.20%,平均1.50%)、Ti O2*(0.09%~1.09%,平均0.39%)含量低,Al2O3/Si O2比值低(0.04~0.18,平均0.12),K2O/Na2O比值高(4.90~82.41,平均40.01),最接近被动大陆边缘特征值。样品具有与上地壳相似的高场强元素与大离子亲石元素组成,ΣREE分布于62×10-6~495×10-6之间,平均181×10-6,球粒陨石标准化配分型式与上地壳极为相似,呈现轻稀土富集、重稀土平坦、中度Eu、Ce负异常特征,特征微量、稀土元素含量及比值,如:Th、La、Ce、Rb/Sr、Th/U、La/Sc,指示了晚三叠世构造背景为被动与活动大陆边缘。样品成分变异指数ICV均1(0.18~0.68,平均0.45),指示物源主要为再循环的沉积物,而沉积物再循环会导致粘土矿物比例增加,从而使化学风化指标CIA值得到累积。较高的CIA值(72.10~96.28,平均81.18)表明沉积物累积经历的化学风化作用强烈,而CIA与ICV强烈负相关,则表明CIA值的变化主要是由不同时期输入碎屑物成分不同引起的。结合物源、构造背景判别图解,上述特征综合表明研究区须家河组形成于被动大陆边缘(为主)与活动大陆边缘环境,其物源来自东南的雪峰隆起区(为主)与北侧的秦岭造山带。  相似文献

通过对浙西南遂昌县玉岩古元古代花岗片麻岩锆石LA-ICP-MS U-Pb年代学研究,以探讨和揭示华夏地区基底的物质组成。玉岩花岗片麻岩锆石可分为两类:第一类锆石年龄相对年轻,其~(207)Pb/~(206)Pb年龄介于597~1917 Ma之间,结合稀土元素特征,表明为变质成因锆石,在锆石谐和图上,15个年轻锆石点整体上构成了一条不一致线,其上交点年龄为1904±19Ma,代表了片麻岩形成的变质时间,表明华夏地区存在古老的古元古代晚期岩浆岩-变质岩基底,下交点年龄为262±47Ma,可能记录了华夏地块晚二叠世―早三叠世构造-变质作用的响应。第二类锆石年龄相对较老,锆石~(207)Pb/~(206)Pb年龄介于2087~2523Ma之间,锆石发育核幔结构并有明显的振荡环带,较老的锆石年龄表明华夏地区可能存在太古宙末至2.5Ga的古老基底物质。  相似文献

通过认真、系统的地震资料解释, 我们在塔里木盆地西南坳陷首次发现晚新生代正断层。 这些正断层发育于西南坳陷的东北部, 走向 NE-SW, 剖面上组合成堑垒构造, 个别剖面上显示负花状构造特征。 正断层主要发育于新生界, 向上断至的最高层位是第四系更新统下部。 倾向相反的正断层向下交汇后断距消失, 断层继续向下延伸的情况不清楚。 根据断距 变化和生长指数计算, 正断层形成于上新世晚期, 持续演化至更新世早期。 正断层的形成演化过程与以往在阿瓦提凹陷、巴楚隆起和塘沽孜巴斯坳陷发现的晚新生代正断层基本一致, 正断层活动时间为 ca. 3~2 Ma。 它们形成于一个区域性弱伸展构造应力场, 代表印度-亚洲碰撞远程效应下, 塔里木盆地脉式挤压冲断过程中的一个构造间歇期。  相似文献
