In mine soil, quantification of soil organic carbon (OC) derived recently from biomass decomposition is complicated by the presence of fossil (geogenic) C derived from coal, oil shale, or similar material in the overburden. The only reliable method for such measurement is 14C analysis (i.e. radiocarbon dating) using instrumentation such as accelerator mass spectrometry, which is too expensive for routine laboratory analysis. We tested two previously used and two new methods for recent C quantification and compared them with 14C AMS radiocarbon dating as a reference using a set of soil samples (n = 14) from Sokolov, Czech Republic: (i) 13C isotope ratio composition, (ii) cross polarization magic angle spinning 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (CPMAS 13C NMR) spectroscopy, (iii) near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) coupled with partial least squares regression and (iv) Rock–Eval pyrolysis. Conventional methods for OC determination (dry combustion, wet dichromate oxidation, loss-on-ignition) were also compared to quantify any bias connected with their use. All the methods provided acceptable recent carbon estimates in the presence of mostly aliphatic fossil C from kerogen. However, the most accurate predictions were obtained with two approaches using Rock–Eval pyrolysis parameters as predictors, namely (i) S2 curve components and (ii) oxygen index (OI). The S2 curve approach is based on the lower thermal stability of recent vs. fossil organic matter. The OI approach corresponded well with 13C NMR spectra, which showed that samples rich in recent C were richer in carboxyl C and O-alkyl C. The Linares region (southern Spain) has been subjected to two important sources of pollution: the intensive mining works and
the urban-industrial activity. To obtain a geochemical characterisation of the soil, 31 trace elements were analysed and 669
soil samples were collected. By means of clustering analysis, we identified groups of elements and grid squares in which relations
could be established concerning soil lithology, urban and industrial activities and the degree of pollution impact; in addition,
we were able to characterise the geochemical background of the study area. The multivariate study led us to identify four
factors. Particularly important was factor 2, which represented the elements associated with mineral paragenesis (Cu, Pb,
As, Co, Mn, Zn, Sn, Ba). This factor also contains elements related with an urban-industrial activity, such as Pb, Cu, Zn,

宽频带、大功率、短余振声波震源是高分辨率探测大尺度复杂结构体的关键技术,为了解决探测距离与其分辨率的矛盾问题,采用超磁致伸缩材料制作的声波发射器作为震源,研制了一种新的声波探测仪器。该震源中心频率为5 kHz,激励电压300~600 V,具有辐射声功率大、余振短(3.5个周期)、频带宽(1~3 kHz)的特性;其最大的优点是每次激发的声波信号一致性好,可以采用单点多次激发,通过多次叠加的数据处理技术提高信噪比,较好地解决了声波探测距离与分辨率的矛盾,并成功地应用于煤矿采场顶煤厚度探测。现场探测结果表明:大功率声波探测系统能够有效提取4~7 m煤岩交界面的反射波信号,借助于小波多分辨分析信号处理方法,有效地提高了采场顶煤厚度探测的精度及其可靠性,为顶煤厚度精确探测提供了一条有效途径。 相似文献

Turbidite bed thickness distributions are often interpreted in terms of power laws, even when there are significant departures from a single straight line on a log–log exceedence probability plot. Alternatively, these distributions have been described by a lognormal mixture model. Statistical methods used to analyse and distinguish the two models (power law and lognormal mixture) are presented here. In addition, the shortcomings of some frequently applied techniques are discussed, using a new data set from the Tarcău Sandstone of the East Carpathians, Romania, and published data from the Marnoso‐Arenacea Formation of Italy. Log–log exceedence plots and least squares fitting by themselves are inappropriate tools for the analysis of bed thickness distributions; they must be accompanied by the assessment of other types of diagrams (cumulative probability, histogram of log‐transformed values, q–q plots) and the use of a measure of goodness‐of‐fit other than R2, such as the chi‐square or the Kolmogorov–Smirnov statistics. When interpreting data that do not follow a single straight line on a log–log exceedence plot, it is important to take into account that ‘segmented’ power laws are not simple mixtures of power law populations with arbitrary parameters. Although a simple model of flow confinement does result in segmented plots at the centre of a basin, the segmented shape of the exceedence curve breaks down as the sampling location moves away from the basin centre. The lognormal mixture model is a sedimentologically intuitive alternative to the power law distribution. The expectation–maximization algorithm can be used to estimate the parameters and thus to model lognormal bed thickness mixtures. Taking into account these observations, the bed thickness data from the Tarcău Sandstone are best described by a lognormal mixture model with two components. Compared with the Marnoso‐Arenacea Formation, in which bed thicknesses of thin beds have a larger variability than thicknesses of the thicker beds, the thinner‐bedded population of the Tarcău Sandstone has a lower variability than the thicker‐bedded population. Such differences might reflect contrasting depositional settings, such as the difference between channel levées and basin plains. 相似文献

本文通过实验、实测和理论分析研究了开采沉陷土体变形与孔隙水压力之间的相互作用,结果表明,随着开采的进行,土体的应力变形发生变化造成了超静孔隙水压力的产生和消散,反映在土体变形上出现随开采时间延续而发展的附加压缩和膨胀变形,这种压缩或膨胀在土体的不同部位相互叠加,有时还叠加了底部含水层水位下降引起的地面下沉。这些结果揭示了厚松散含水层地区开采沉陷特殊性的机理,对开采沉陷预测及水体下采煤具有重要意义。 相似文献

Soil nails have been widely used to stabilize slopes and earth retaining structures in many countries and regions, especially, in Hong Kong. The analysis of the interaction between a soil nail and the surrounding soil is of great interests to both design engineers and researchers. In this paper, authors present a simple mathematical model for the interaction analysis of a soil nail and the surrounding soil considering a few key factors which are soil dilation, bending of the soil nail, vertical pressure, and non-linear subgrade reaction stiffness. The lateral subgrade reaction between the soil and the soil nail is assumed to obey a hyperbolic relation. Reported test data in the literature are used to verify the present model. This paper reveals the interesting relation between the inter-column spacing and the corresponding alteration of soil state
of stresses due to the vibro-installation technique. This relation is inferred from analyses for load settlement records of
various field load tests, performed for stone columns arrangements with different inter-column spacing values. In order to
have adequate confidence in the findings, a well-documented case history, involving three columns patterns along with their
relevant field and laboratory test results, is utilized for this study. Moreover, a well-tested finite element model, capable
of simulating both elasto-plastic and time dependent soil deformations as well as pore water pressure building and dissipation,
is employed in the analysis. Instead of determining the soil response to the test load, based on known initial soil stresses
and material properties, the analysis is inversely posed to determine the soil initial stresses, based on the recorded settlements
and the post-installation material properties. The alteration in the soil state of stress is represented by the increase in
the post-installation horizontal to vertical stress ratio, K*, as a function of the inter-column spacing. It is found that this alteration experiences a systematic decrease in its magnitude
