Anthropogenic influences on hydrocarbon contents of sediments deposited in eastern Lake Ontario since 1800 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
The amounts and types of extractable hydrocarbon components in sediment cores from the Rochester Basin of eastern Lake Ontario
provide a record of environmental changes that have accompanied the settlement and population growth of the surrounding land
areas. Sediments deposited prior to the mid-1800s contain low concentrations of hydrocarbons that are dominated by land-plant
wax components. Concentrations begin to rise in the late 1800s as erosion of soil and nutrients from watershed areas accelerated.
This pattern continues into modern times. Episodes of enhanced aquatic productivity are sometimes recorded in twentieth-century
sediments by the dominance of algal hydrocarbons, but land-plant components typically predominate. Petroleum residues begin
to appear in sediments deposited in the late 1800's but remain minor constituents of the hydrocarbon contents of modern sediments
in the Rochester Basin.

Experiments were conducted in the field to determine the non-chemical loss rate of methyl iodide in seawater and to examine production rates of methyl halides. The loss rate of added C13 labelled methyl iodide, present at concentrations similar to those found in seawater, corrected for chemical loss due to reaction with Cl− varied from < 1 to 18% day− 1, with a mean value of 7%. This rate of loss is much lower than that which was proposed by Bell et al. [Bell, N., Hsu, L., Jacob, D. J., Schultz, M. G., Blake, D. R., Butler, J. H., King, D. B., Lobert, J. M., Maier-Reimer, E., 2002. Methyl iodide: Atmospheric budget and use as a tracer of marine convection in global models, Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres 107(D17), 4340-4351.] to account for the large discrepancies between observed and predicted mid-latitude concentrations of CH3I based on their global photochemical source model. The suitability of several types of container for seawater incubations was studied and only quartz tubes appeared to be free of experimental artifact. Collapsible polyvinyl fluoride containers showed major production of methyl halides on irradiation with simulated sunlight. 在煤化作用过程中,煤岩组分产出气相和液相物质的同时,固相煤岩组分本身也遭受改造。现今的固相煤岩组分与已产出的气相和液捐物质都是它们共有“前身”演化的“产物”,所以只根据固相煤岩组分的生烃潜能作为评价油气资源的依据还不够理想。煤在短时间高温条件下的热演化,与煤在漫长地质时期、低温条件下自然煤化作用过程中的热化有本质差异,用热解实验方法研究煤成烃尚存在一定问题。煤层内的气处在吸附一解吸和运移的动态平衡状态,决定煤层含气的主导因素是煤层的储气和运移条件,生烃潜能不起主导作用。 相似文献

The Eldorado low-sulfide gold-quartz deposit, with gold reserves of more than 60 tons, is located in the damage zone of the Ishimba Fault in the Yenisei Ridge and is hosted by Riphean epidote-amphibolite metamorphic rocks (Sukhoi Pit Group). Orebodies occur in four roughly parallel heavily fractured zones where rocks were subject to metamorphism under stress and heat impacts. They consist of sulfide-bearing schists with veins of gray or milky-white quartz varieties. Gray quartz predominating in gold-bearing orebodies contains graphite and amorphous carbon identified by Raman spectroscopy; the contents of gold and amorphous carbon are in positive correlation. As inferred from thermobarometry, gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and Raman spectroscopy of fluid inclusions in sulfides, carbonates, and gray and white quartz, gold mineralization formed under the effect of reduced H2O-CO2-HC fluids with temperatures of 180 to 490 °C, salinity of 9 to 22 wt.% NaCl equiv, and pressures of 0.1 to 2.3 kbar. Judging by the presence of 11% mantle helium (3He) in fluid inclusions from quartz and the sulfur isotope composition (7.1-17.4‰ δ34S) of sulfides, ore-bearing fluids ascended from a mantle source along shear zones, where they “boiled”. While the fluids were ascending, the metalliferous S- and N-bearing hydrocarbon (HC) compounds they carried broke down to produce crystalline sulfides, gold, and disseminated graphite and amorphous carbon (the latter imparts the gray color to quartz). Barren veins of milky-white quartz formed from oxidized mainly aqueous fluids with a salinity of < 15 wt.% NaCl equiv at 150-350 °C. Chloride brines (> 30 wt.% NaCl equiv) at 150-260 °C impregnated the gold-bearing quartz veins and produced the lower strata of the hydrothermal-granitoid section. The gold mineralization (795-710 Ma) was roughly coeval to local high-temperature stress metamorphism (836-745 Ma) and intrusion of the Kalama multiphase complex (880-752 Ma). 相似文献

Palynomorphs recovered from core and cuttings samples from five boreholes in the East Baghdad Oilfield indicate a mid Albian–early Cenomanian age-range for the Nahr Umr Formation and the lower part of the overlying Mauddud Formation. Two palynomorph zones and four types of palynofacies have been identified. The latter are interpreted to indicate delta-top swamp and marsh, silty–muddy deltaic, inner silty and carbonate-rich platform, and limestone-platform environments. The palynofacies of the two types of platform accumulations suggest that these are potential sources of biogenic methane and condensates, and may yield more liquid hydrocarbons in areas where the formations are at greater depths than within the region studied. 相似文献

Stable carbon isotopic composition of ethane and propane over the western North Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean between 31°N
and 26°S was investigated from February through March 2004. The isotopic composition of ethane ranged from −28 to −18‰ and
showed a gradual increase from north to south. Conversely, that of propane was between −31 and −24‰; it showed no systematic
latitudinal variation. Investigation of the ethane/propane ratio indicates that ethane and propane that originated from northern
mid-latitude countries in the eastern part of Eurasia were both transported into the western North Pacific region. However,
the results of the isotopic analyses indicate the contribution of oceanic emission to the atmospheric propane during transport,
although that contribution can not be discerned for ethane. A ship based stationary observation conducted in the western equatorial
North Pacific showed that the isotopic composition of ethane varied from −25 to −19‰ and showed clear systematic diurnal variation:
propane ranged between −32 to −26‰ and no such isotopic diurnal signal was observed. The diurnal variation for ethane is explained
by entrainment of free tropospheric air, whereas the variation for propane was influenced by oceanic emissions as well as
the entrainment. The contribution of oceanic emissions to the atmospheric propane inventory was considered from our isotopic
observation. Isotopic composition of dissolved propane is estimated to be less than −38‰, and the contribution up to 79% was
calculated when the isotopic composition of dissolved propane is assumed to be −40‰. Our study demonstrates that isotopic
analysis can be more useful than ratio-based analysis to improve our present understanding of transport processes, especially
for impact of the oceanic emissions on the atmospheric distribution of low level C2–C5 non-methane hydrocarbons such as propane in the remote marine atmosphere. 相似文献

Total suspended particles (TSP), collected during June 2002 to July 2003 in Guangzhou, a typical economically developed city in South China, were analyzed for the organic compound compositions using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Over 140 organic compounds were detected in the aerosols and grouped into different classes including n-alkanes, hopanoids, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, alkanols, fatty acids, dicarboxylic acids excluding oxalic acid, polyols/polyacids, lignin products, phytosterols, phthalates and water-soluble sugars. The total amounts of the identified organic compounds including unresolved complex mixture (UCM) ranged from 3112 ng/m3 in spring to 5116 ng/m3 in winter, comprising on seasonal average 2.8% of TSP. Primary organic compounds peaked in winter although there are no heating systems burning fuels in Guangzhou. The highest saccharide levels occurred in fall due to agricultural activities. This study demonstrated that utilization of fossil fuels, biomass burning, soil resuspension and plastic/refuse burning are the major contributors to the identified organic compounds in the urban atmosphere of South China. 相似文献
