Lipid classes in a small, eutrophicated salty lake (Rogoznica Lake, middle Adriatic), which is often subject to appeareance of anoxic conditions, were analyzed at the end of winter (March) and in summer (July) 2008. The results are supported with DOC, POC, phytoplankton, temperature, salinity and oxygen data. During both March and July massive, diatom blooms were recorded with maximum values at 5 m depth. Total lipids were found at high concentrations that were similar for the samplings in two months. Total particulate lipids dominated the pool, and showed large variations from 46.37 to 369.88 μg/l, with the highest concentration observed in the bottom anoxic layer in March. The variations for dissolved lipids were smaller and ranged from 44.82 to 124.35 μg/l. Opposite to lipids, DOC values increased 1.5 times between the two samplings, from the value of average 0.95 mg C/l in March to the average value of 1.44 mg/l in July. Conformingly with diatom blooms, POC was found in July at high concentrations (0.28–1.50 mg C/l), contributing to total organic carbon up to 46%. The distribution of organic carbon and lipids showed the tendency of accumulation toward deeper layers. The characterization of individual lipid classes revealed the dominance of phospholipids, indicating that the lipids in the lake mainly originated from the photosynthetically active phytoplankton community, which is sustained by high production of oxygen (oxygen saturation up to 200%). Low contribution of neutral lipids in the particulate fraction points to high availability of nutrients for present phytoplankton community. Lipid breakdown indices were found at significantly higher concentrations in March compared to July. Sea surface microlayer, the hydrophobic boundary, appeared to be generally lipid depleted in comparison to the sub-surface water. Qualitative analysis of sulfolipids revealed the potential of the lake for the occurrence of chemical interaction of sulfur with present organic matter.  相似文献

Flux equations for liquid and solute migration through clay barriers that behave as semi-permeable membranes used in waste containment and remediation applications, known as clay membrane barriers (CMBs), are discussed. The results of a simplified analysis of flow through a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) using measured values for the chemico-osmotic efficiency coefficient (ω) of the GCL indicate a total liquid flux that counters the outward Darcy (hydraulic) flux due to chemico-osmosis associated with clay membrane behavior of the GCL. Also, the solute (contaminant) flux through the GCL is reduced relative to the solute flux that would occur in the absence of membrane behavior due to chemico-osmotic counter advection and solute restriction. Since diffusion commonly controls solute transport through GCLs and other low-permeability clay barriers, the implicit (empirical) correlation between ω and the effective salt-diffusion coefficient of the migrating contaminant is an important consideration with respect to contaminant restriction in CMBs.  相似文献

Previous work has demonstrated that suspended clay accumulating on filter paper can act as a membrane and affect chemical concentrations in the filtered water. For this reason, we looked at the possibility of membrane effects altering water chemistry during filtering for Missouri Rivers. Membrane effects during filtering could cause an initial decrease in sample concentrations as the filter cake began acting as a membrane, with a corresponding increase of concentration as the concentration polarization layer was formed behind the filter cake. Samples from five Missouri rivers were tested: the Mississippi River at St. Louis, the Missouri River at Kansas City, the Gasconade River at Jerome, the Osage River at the junction of Highway 63 and 50, and the Meramec River one mile downstream from springs. Three 1-l samples were filtered from each river using a 0.45 m filter. An unfiltered sample from each river underwent dialysis to determine the actual ion concentrations of the overall sample. None of the filtered samples demonstrated a statistically significant alteration of water chemistry using current filtering techniques in this preliminary study, suggesting that membrane effects due to accumulation of clay particles on filter paper may not be a common problem in Missouri and similar regions.  相似文献

利用气相色谱—质谱联用仪(GC—MS)对星云湖76 cm长的沉积岩芯类脂物分子中脂肪醇进行分析,揭示了近130 a以来星云湖地区环境演变过程。结果表明:脂肪醇碳数分布C12~C30呈有规律变化:76~60 cm深度表现为高碳数与低碳数相对平衡态势,60~38 cm逐步变为以高碳数为优势, 38~12 cm高碳数较前阶段降低,12~0 cm低碳数显现明显优势。低碳数与高碳数组分的比值Rl/h介于0.13~4.1之间,在人类活动干扰较小状况下,Rl/h变化与气候的冷暖变化具有显著的对应关系,明显揭示出了相对寒冷(1920年前)—温暖(20世纪30—50年代)—较寒冷(20世纪60—70年代)温暖(20世纪80年代)的气候变化阶段;20世纪90年代以后,湖泊富营养化快速发展,Rl/h也随之急剧增加。反映出脂肪醇对湖泊环境变化记录的灵敏性以及人类活动的干扰可能对环境自然演化的痕迹予以改变,产生叠加放大或抵消效应,使得现象解释更加复杂。从多种代用指标交合中提炼判识自然与人为因素对环境的影响,是现代沉积物研究中必须注意的问题。  相似文献

Four representatives of methanogenic Euryarchaeota (Methanosarcina mazei strain Gö1, Methanosphaera stadtmanae, Methanobrevibacter smithii and Methanosaeta thermophila), the hyperthermophilic euryarchaeon Thermococcus kodakarensis and the halophilic euryarchaeon Haloferax volcanii were studied for their glycerol ether lipid composition. The predominant core membrane lipid in all of them was archaeol, which was accompanied by variable quantities of sn-2-hydroxyarchaeol in the methanogens M. mazei (Methanosarcinales) and M. stadtmanae (Methanobacteriales). All methanogenic and hyperthermophilic Euryarchaeota also contained comparatively high abundances of the glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraether without a cyclopentane moiety (GDGT-0). The methanoarchaeon M. stadtmanae, in addition to GDGT-0, contained GDGT core lipid structures with 1–4 cyclopentane moieties (GDGTs 1–4). We also found minor amounts of a glycerol trialkyl glycerol tetraether (GTGT) and a glycerol dialkanol diether (GDD), both of which did not contain cyclopentane moieties, as well as methylated and dimethylated GDGT-0 in all the archaea with the exception of H. volcanii. Like its GDGT distribution, M. stadtmanae showed an extended range of GDD structures with up to two cyclopentane ring systems. Our results thus indicate that both methanogenic and hyperthermophilic Euryarchaeota may represent source organisms of GTGT-0, GDDs and methylated-GDGTs in natural environments. All the latter components have recently been reported to be ubiquitously distributed in marine sediments but their biological origin is largely unknown. Moreover, a suite of unsaturated GDGTs without a cyclopentane moiety and up to four double bonds in the hyperthermophile T. kodakarensis was tentatively assigned.  相似文献

In the following study, two methods were employed in which olive mill wastewaters were treated by using reverse osmosis membranes (BW30 and XLE). In the first, wastewater was centrifuged and then passed through the reverse osmosis whereas in the second, an ultrafiltration was placed between the centrifuge and the reverse osmosis. The reverse osmosis experiments were conducted under 10, 15, 20, and 25 bar. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiencies under 25 bar were found to be 97.5% for both BW30 and XLE membranes. The highest conductivity removal rates obtained under 25 bar for BW30 and XLE membranes were found to be 95.6 and 96.2%, respectively. As for the highest permeation flux values obtained under 25 bar, they were separately determined for BW30 and XLE as 15.3 and 21.2 L m?2 h?1, respectively. The performances of the membranes were also evaluated in terms of their mass transfer coefficients. According to this, all mass transfer coefficients were found to be <1 and also in proximate to one another; this clearly reflects the results as COD and conductivity removals were approximate and there was a lack of any significant difference, whether ultrafiltration was applied or not.  相似文献

根据青藏高原东北部甘肃南部郎木寺泥炭总有机碳含量的时间序列,重建了该区7.3~4.0kaB.P.(中全新世)期间气候演变的历史,其中较为显著的变冷事件分别集中在6.8cal.kaB.P.,5.0cal.kaB.P.和4.3cal.kaB.P.。同时分析了3个不同深度的泥炭脂类分子化合物。结果表明,正构烷烃和直链烷基-2-酮都由长链组分所构成,具有明显的奇碳优势和很高的碳优势指数值(CPI>5)表明,这些长链组分来自草本高等植物。样品中还检出脂肪酸甲酯系列,也以长链组分为主,可能是沉积早期生物地球化学作用的产物。异构烯烃的存在及菲系列化合物低的甲基菲指数(MPI)和镜质体反射率(Rc)值,说明样品受成岩作用的影响很小而且几乎没有遭受现代的污染,即泥炭保存完好,各个指标可以真实反映泥炭的组成、性质及其形成时的环境条件。根据总有机碳含量的时间序列和不同阶段样品中的脂类分子化石的组合特征,探讨了各阶段气候和植被的演化特征。  相似文献

Sediments recovered from 0 to 27 + meters below the seafloor (mbsf) of a gas-hydrate and gas-venting active area in the Gulf of Mexico were added to a hydrate growth test cell to determine the influence of the organic and inorganic sedimentary components on hydrate induction times and formation rates. Induction times were sixteen times shorter in the presence of sediment from approximately 18 mbsf (relative to sediment from 1 mbsf), and remained stable in the presence of sediment from 18 to 27 mbsf. Formation rates increased by a factor of 2.5 in the presence of sediments from approximately 18 mbsf and decreased somewhat in the presence of sediment from 18 to 27 mbsf. Selected samples (surface, 18 and 27 mbsf) were density fractionated and subjected to bulk elemental and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. XPS revealed the presence of iron in various chemical environments at depths of 18 and 27 mbsf. High Resolution Magic Angle Spinning Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (HR-MAS NMR) was used to characterize the organic component of sediments from selected depths. The discovery of intact proteinaceous material in the surface sediment was surprising due to the labile nature of these biopolymers, and potentially reflects microbial activity in these surface layers. This material was less abundant in sediment from increasing depths, where more lipid-like compounds were prominent. The results suggest that hydrate growth is inhibited by the presence of proteinaceous material but enhanced by lipid-like compounds associated with iron-bearing mineral surfaces.  相似文献

Fecal pellets from the pelagic crab Pleuroncodes planipes were a substantial portion of the particulate organic matter in a sediment trap deployed at the bottom of the mixed layer in the eastern tropical North Pacific Ocean. The lipids of fresh P. planipes feces were compared to lipids of the sediment trap material, of mixed zooplankton which may comprise part of the diet of the crab, and of the crab itself in order to elucidate the source of organic compounds found in the trap. Hydrocarbons, wax esters, triacylglycerols, steroidal alcohols, steroidal ketones, and fatty acids were determined by capillary gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Significant input of lipids via sedimentation of crab fecal material is indicated, and modification of dietary lipid within the gut of the crab is inferred. Labile dietary fatty acids are depleted and sterols enriched in the fecal pellets and trap material relative to the zooplankton and crab. Nuclear saturated and unsaturated 3-ketosteroids and unsaturated steroidal hydrocarbons were detected in the crab, its feces, and in the sediment trap particulate material.  相似文献

The relationship between the lipid composition of organisms in the water column of an eutrophic lake and the lipid composition of underlying sediments, previously examined for n-alkanols and steroids, is now reported for hydrocarbons, ketones and carboxylic acids.The n-C7 alkane and alkenoic acids from two primary sources are rapidly metabolized in the water column and surficial sediment. Bacterial biomarkers, including hopenes and fatty acids, were detected in the photosynthetic bacterial layer occurring just above the sediment-water interface.Within the sediment the apparent conversion of free n-alkanes, alkan-2-ones and ω-hydroxy acids to the corresponding bound form is noted; microbiological oxidation of n-alkanes to alkan-2-ones is supported by the detection of the intermediate alkan-2-ols with a distribution similar to that of the ketones. The geochemistry of sediment deposited c. 1900, prior to biological study of the site, was interpreted from stable biomarkers and the diagenetic changes recognised in the study of contemporary deposition. A qualitative difference in algal input to the older sediment is inferred from the low Δ7-sterol content and presence of 2,6,10-trimethyl-7-(3-methylbutyl)-dodecane. However, there was still significant dinoflagellate input, as indicated by the presence of 4α-methylsterols. A difference in higher-plant input to the older sediment, indicated from the n-alkane, alkene and triterpenoid ketone distributions, is consistent with the recent development of tree cover.  相似文献
