The Wandashan accretionary complex(AC),consisting of the Raohe and Yuejinshan complexes,is located on the continental margin of Northeast Asia and represents an excellent source of information about Paleo-Pacific subduction and accretion. However, the protolith nature and tectonic evolution of the Wandashan AC are under debate. This contribution reports new geochronological, geochemical, and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopic data for ophiolitic rocks from the Wandashan AC.The 169-166 Ma plagioclasites and homogeneous gabbros from the Raohe complex are OIBs while 228-214 Ma homogeneous gabbros are continental VABs.Cumulate gabbros from the Yuejinshan complex formed at 280-278 Ma and~220 Ma and have similar characteristics with E-MORB and N-MORB,respectively.They are BABBs and their primary magma was derived from a source region between EMI and EMII that was affected by con-tinental crustal contamination as well as subduction-zone metasomatism.Combined with previous stud-ies,we suggest that the onset of subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate was in the Early Permian.Subsequently,a back-arc basin, whose present suture is on the eastern margin of the Jiamusi Massif, formed and widened during 280-232 Ma,after which the basin closed and BABBs were emplaced to form the Yuejinshan complex during 210-180 Ma.The formation of VABs of the Raohe complex is coincident with the closure of the back-arc basin, and together with the 169-166 Ma OIBs,they constitute a major part of the Raohe complex. The accretionary process was completed during 133-131 Ma.Taken together, the ophiolitic rocks indicating multistage magmatism in the Paleo-Wandashan region recorded the formation-closure process of back-arc basin and the accretionary process of the Wandashan AC,during the westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate. The back-arc basin identified in our study sheds new lights on geodynamic evolution model of subduction and accretion of the Paleo-Pacific Plate on the continental margin of NE Asia. 相似文献
The Rooiberg Group is a 6-km-thick sequence of mostly volcanic rocks, which represent the first phase of magmatic activity associated with the Bushveld Complex. These strata include, in ascending stratigraphic order, the Dullstroom, Damwal, Kwaggasnek, and Schrikkloof Formations. Units of the lower Dullstroom Formation range from basalts to andesites and comprise two compositional suites: high Ti and low Ti. Compositional data indicate that melts represented by the overlying, more siliceous volcanic rocks, which include dacites and rhyolites, were derived from low Ti melts by fractional crystallization and assimilation of crustal material (AFC processes).
Rb–Sr isotopic data (28 samples) for units of the Dullstroom and Damwal Formations loosely constrain a crystallization age of 2071+94/−65 Ma (these errors and those below: 95% confidence limits), which agrees with previously reported age data. These data suggest an initial value for 87Sr/86Sr of 0.70655+0.00087/−0.00051 for the Rooiberg Group. In contrast, Rb–Sr isotopic compositions of six samples of the Kwaggasnek Formation indicate post-crystallization alteration, which was probably associated with the Lebowa Granite Suite of the Bushveld Complex. Sm–Nd isotopic data (29 samples) for volcanic units of the Rooiberg Group provide a poorly constrained age of 1837+360/−320 Ma with an initial value for 143Nd/144Nd of 0.50976+0.00026/−0.00035. These Rb–Sr and Sm–Nd isotopic compositions are similar to those indicated for melts that crystallized to form the Rustenburg Layered Suite (RLS) of the Bushveld Complex. Extruded and intruded melts probably were derived from the same or similar sources and may have resided in the same magma chambers before emplacement. 相似文献
Zircons from granulite xenoliths entrained in a Late Cretaceous mafic dike in the Jiaodong Peninsula, North China Craton (NCC), show three distinct U-Pb age populations. Part of the old zircon grains yield discordant data that project to ages of about 2.4 to 2.5 Ga, a few grains indicate growth at about 2.0 Ga and a third group yield Cretaceous ages with peaks at 120 and 90 Ma. The oldest zircons give Hf TDM model ages of 2.6-2.8 Ga. These results demonstrate the existence of original Archean lower crust in the Jiaodong region. Zircons of 2.0 Ga have similar Hf TDM model ages as the Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic grains, suggesting that these zircons were products of metamorphic recrystallization due to thermal event without juvenile input. Early Cretaceous zircons yield εHf(t) values of − 21 to − 12 and Late Cretaceous zircons large variable εHf(t) from + 4 to − 50. These data suggest that magmatic underplating occurred in the Neoarchean to Earliest Proterozoic lower crust of the NCC, both in the Early and Late Cretaceous. It is suggested that the Mesozoic magma underplating, which also provided the heat source for the voluminous Mesozoic magmatism in the NCC, significantly modified the composition of the Archean to Paleoproterozoic lower crust of the NCC. 相似文献
Deposits of the 22.6 ka Okareka Eruption Episode from Tarawera Volcanic Complex record the sequential and simultaneous eruption of three discrete rhyolite magmas following a silicic recharge event related to basaltic intrusion. The episode started with basaltic eruption ( 0.01 km3 magma), and rapidly changed to a plinian eruption involving a moderate temperature (750 °C), cummingtonite-bearing rhyolite magma (T1) with a volume of 0.3 km3. Hybrid basalt/rhyolite clasts demonstrate direct basaltic intrusion that helped trigger the eruption. Crystals, shards and lapilli of two other rhyolite magmas then joined the eruption sequence. They comprise a cooler (720 °C) crystal-rich biotite–hornblende rhyolite magma (T2) ( 0.3 km3), and a hotter (780 °C), crystal-poor, pyroxene–hornblende rhyolite magma (T3) ( 4.5 km3). All mid to late-stage ash units contain various mixtures of T1, T2 and T3 components with a general increase in abundance of T3 and rapid decline of T1 with time. About 4 km3 of T3 magma was extruded as lavas at the end of the episode. Contrasts in melt composition, crystal and volatile contents, and temperatures influenced viscosity and miscibility, and thus limited pre-eruption mixing of the rhyolite magmas. The eruption sequence and the restricted direct basaltic intrusion into only one magma (T1) is consistent with the rhyolites occupying separate melt pods within a large crystal-mush zone. Melt–crystal equilibria and volatile contents in melt inclusions indicate temporary magma storage depths of < 8 km. Each of the magmas display quartz crystals containing melt inclusions that are compositionally highly evolved relative to the accompanying matrix glass, and thus point to a stage of more complete crystallisation. The matrix glass, enriched in Sr and Ti, represents a re-melting event of underlying the crystal pile induced by basaltic intrusion, presumably part of the same event that erupted scoria at the start of the eruption. This recharge rhyolite melt percolated upward and hybridised with the resident melts in each of the three magma pods. The Okareka episode rhyolites contrast with other well-documented rhyolites that are either continuously or discontinuously zoned, or have been homogenised during re-activation to a uniform composition. Rapid basalt dike intrusion to shallow levels appears to have (prematurely?) triggered the Okareka rhyolites into eruption, so that their early ponding in separate melt pods has been recorded before it could be masked by mixing or stratification had amalgamation into a larger body occurred. 相似文献
