A complete spectrum of Lyapunov exponents (LEs) is obtained from 1970— 1985 daily mean pressuremeasurements at Shanghai by means of a correlation matrix analysis technique and it is found that there exist LEs≥0,and <0. with their sum 0λ_i=K=0.110405 whereuponT=1 /K =9 is obtained as the predictable time scale, a result close to that acquired by the dynamic-statistical approachin early days and also in agreement with that present by the authors themselves(1991).  相似文献

The dynamics of two families of minor inner solar system bodies that suffer frequent close encounters with the planets is analyzed. These families are: Jupiter family comets (JF comets) and Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs). The motion of these objects has been considered to be chaotic in a short time scale,and the close encounters are supposed to be the cause of the fast chaos. For a better understanding of the chaotic behavior we have computed Lyapunov Characteristic Exponents (LCEs) for all the observed members of both populations. LCEs are a quantitative measure of the exponential divergence of initially close orbits. We have observed that most members of the two families show a concentration of Lyapunov times (inverse of LCE) around 50–100yr. The concentration is more pronounced for JF comets than for NEAs, among which a lesser spread is observed for those that actually cross the Earth's orbit (mean perihelion distance q < 1.05 AU). It is also observed that a general correspondence exists between Lyapunov times and the time between consecutive encounters. A simple model is introduced to describe the basic characteristics of the dynamical evolution. This model considers an impulsive approach, where the particles evolve unperturbedly between encounters and suffer ‘kicks’ in semimajor axis at the encounters. It also reproduces successfully the short Lyapunov times observed in the numerical integrations and is able to estimate the dynamical lifetimes of comets during a stay in the Jupiter family in correspondence with previous estimates. It has been demonstrated with the model that the encounters with the largest effect on the exponential growth of the distance between initially nearby orbits are neither the infrequent deep encounters, nor the frequent and far ones; instead, the intermediate approaches have the most relevant contribution to the error growth. Such encounters are at a distance a few times the radius of the Hill's sphere of the planet (e.g. 3). An even simpler model allows us to get analytical estimates of the Lyapunov times in good agreement with the values coming from the model above and the numerical integrations. The predictability of the medium‐term evolution and the hazard posed to the Earth by those objects are analysed in the Discussion section. In order to gain a better understanding of the physical processes underlying fast dynamo action it is instructive to investigate the structure of both the magnetic field and the velocity field after the dynamo saturates. Previously, computational results have been presented (Cattaneo, Hughes and Kim, 1996) that indicate, in particular, that Lagrangian chaos is suppressed in the dynamical regime of the dynamo. Here we extend their model by removing the assumption of neglecting the inertial term. This allows for an investigation into the effect of this term on the evolution of the dynamo via a comparison of the two models. Our results indicate that this term plays a crucial role in the physics of the dynamo.  相似文献

We study numerically the asymptotic homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits around the hyperbolic Lyapunov periodic orbits which emanate from Euler's critical points L 1 and L 2, in the photogravitational restricted plane circular three-body problem. The invariant stable-unstable manifolds associated to these Lyapunov orbits, are also presented. Poincaré surface of sections of these manifolds on appropriate planes and several homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits for the gravitational case as well as for varying radiation factor q 1, are displayed. Homoclinic-homoclinic and homoclinic-heteroclinic-homoclinic chains which link the interior with the exterior Hill's regions, are illustrated. We adopt the Sun-Jupiter system and assume that only the larger primary radiates. It is found that for small deviations of its value from the gravitational case (q 1 = 1), the radiation pressure exerts a significant impact on the Hill's regions and on these asymptotic orbits.  相似文献

对于n维的混沌系统, 不同变量的可预报性是不同的。为了研究混沌系统中单个变量的可预报性, 本文在以前提出的混沌系统整体的非线性局部Lyapunov指数基础上(李建平等, 2006), 引入了单变量的非线性局部Lyapunov指数及其相关统计量, 进一步完善了非线性误差增长理论。通过应用到几个混沌个例, 结果表明单变量的非线性局部Lyapunov指数及其相关统计量可以用来定量地研究多维混沌系统中不同变量的可预报性, 系统不同变量的可预报性之间不是相互独立的, 而是单个变量的可预报期限与系统整体的可预报期限之比都近似保持一个常数, 但各个变量的常数值有所不同。  相似文献

When μ is smaller than Routh’s critical value μ 1 = 0.03852 . . . , two planar Lyapunov families around triangular libration points exist, with the names of long and short period families. There are periodic families which we call bridges connecting these two Lyapunov families. With μ increasing from 0 to 1, how these bridges evolve was studied. The interval (0,1) was divided into six subintervals (0, μ 5), (μ 5μ 4), (μ 4μ 3), (μ 3μ 2), (μ 2μ 1), (μ 1, 1), and in each subinterval the families B(pL, qS) were studied, along with the families B(qS, qS′). Especially in the interval (μ 2μ 1), the conclusion that the bridges B(qS, qS′) do not exist was obtained. Connections between the short period family and the bridges B(kS, (k + 1)S) were also studied. With these studies, the structure of the web of periodic families around triangular libration points was enriched.  相似文献
