Detrital zircon from two basement blocks (Kubor and Bena Bena) in the central Highlands of Papua New Guinea has an age signature that strongly suggests a northern Australian provenance. Samples of the Omung Metamorphics, southeastern Kubor Block, together yield principal zircon populations with ages of ca 1.8 Ga (~10% of the total), ca 1.55 Ga (~10%), 470–440 Ma (~15%), ca 340 Ma (~10%) and 290–260 Ma (~40%).Two tonalite stocks of the Kubor Intrusive Complex, which intrude the Omung Metamorphics, yield indistinguishable ages of 244.8 ± 4.9 Ma and 239.1 ± 4.2 Ma.Therefore, the deposition and subsequent deformation of the Omung Metamorphics is Late Permian to Early Triassic. A sample of Goroka Formation (Bena Bena Block) contains detrital zircon of similar ages to the Omung Metamorphics, ca 1.8 Ga (5%), ca 1.55 Ga (~45%), ca 430 Ma (~5%) and ca 310 Ma (~40%), suggesting that the Goroka Formation has a similar provenance and might be correlative. In contrast, a metapsammite from the Bena Bena Formation yielded only ages of 290–280 Ma (85%) and ca 240 Ma (15%). A tuff interbedded in the Bena Bena Formation yielded only igneous zircon with a Late Triassic age of 221 ± 3 Ma. Contrary to previous interpretations, the Bena Bena Formation is probably younger than the Goroka Formation. Ages of New Guinea detrital zircon closely match those of igneous and detrital zircon from the Coen Inlier, northeastern Queensland, but contrast with the ages of zircon from terranes further south, east and west. The Kubor and Bena Bena Blocks are not suspect terranes, but rather form part of the Australian craton. The craton margin, modified by rifting during the Mesozoic, was re‐inverted during Cenozoic compression. The Australian craton, in the eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, extends at least as far north as the Markham Valley, the northern edge of the Bena Bena terrane. 相似文献

SHRIMP U–Pb monazite dates of ca 1600–1580 Ma are reported from three samples taken from the southeastern margin of the Proterozoic Mt Isa Block. The samples include an upper amphibolite facies paragneiss and a pegmatite from the host sequence of the Cannington Ag–Pb–Zn deposit and a middle amphibolite facies metasediment from the Soldiers Cap Group near Maronan station. These dates are interpreted to represent the timing of amphibolite facies metamorphism at the southeastern margin of the Mt Isa Block. They are in accordance with the results of earlier SHRIMP U–Pb zircon and 40Ar/39Ar dating, which suggested that metamorphism in the southeastern Mt Isa Block occurred approximately 50 million years earlier than metamorphism in the western Mt Isa Block. This challenges the common perception of orogeny in the Mt Isa Block in which ‘peak metamorphism’, and the deformation events associated with it, can be correlated across the entire terrane. 相似文献

通过1∶50 000陕西镇巴—高川地区区域地质调查,发现镇巴地区和高川地区二叠系具有完全不同的岩石组合特征及生物化石,前者主要为一套稳定的碳酸盐岩相沉积,后者主要为一套较深水相黑色岩系沉积。经对典型地区实测剖面、古生物及岩石组合特征详细对比研究,发现二者虽然时代相同,但是不能横向对比,应为同期异相的产物。在综合区域地质资料基础上,探讨上述二叠系所表征的区域构造意义。两套二叠系岩相的差异性说明镇巴地区和高川地区当时曾分处在不同的沉积-构造环境:镇巴周缘以米仓山和星子山地层小区为代表的物质建造与扬子地块整体升降和海水的频繁进退密切相关,而高川周缘以褚河地层小区为代表的物质建造则更可能与早期地壳隆升、晚期地壳张裂成盆和海水贯入有关。综合区域地质资料研究认为,高川地区地层系统与勉略带地层系统相似,表明其早期与勉略带有着大致相同的构造演化史,也表明高川盆地曾经是晚古生代勉略裂谷—有限洋的一部分,只是被后期构造改造而残存于现今高川一隅。 相似文献

拉萨地块中北部形成于90~88Ma的拔拉扎含矿斑岩具有明显的埃达克质岩特征:高SiO2(>69%)、Al2O3(平均为15.89%)、Sr (平均为354×10-6),低Y(平均为12.97×10-6)、Yb(平均为0.95×10-6)含量,轻重稀土强烈分异((La/Yb)N平均为19.8);同时它们有着高Mg#(平均为65)、Cr(平均为107×10-6)、Ni(平均为13×10-6)含量。研究区这些具有埃达克质岩特征的含矿斑岩并非源于俯冲洋壳、底侵或加厚下地壳部分熔融的产物,也不是玄武质岩浆结晶分异的产物,而很可能是拆沉下地壳部分熔融的结果。另一方面,南向俯冲的Slainajap洋壳或班公湖-怒江洋壳的断离也可能诱发板片窗上部的壳幔物质发生部分熔融而形成研究区的含矿斑岩。 相似文献

华北地块东南缘中生代侵入杂岩中所含榴辉岩类包体中矿物的分析结果表明, 组成榴辉岩类包体的各矿物之间元素的分配在榴辉岩相变质阶段已经达到了化学平衡;石榴石中Al、Fe、Mn, 单斜辉石中Na、Mg、Ca, 角闪石中Na、Mg、Fe等主量元素含量与其全岩之间均呈良好的正相关, 受全岩成分制约;石榴石明显富集HREE、贫LREE, 单斜辉石相对富集LREE、MREE、贫HREE, 两者轻、重稀土含量呈相互消长的互补关系, 石榴石和单斜辉石中分别富集Y、Sr, Ga和过渡族元素Sc、Ti、V、Cr、Co等含量较高, 其含量受全岩成分控制;金红石中稀土元素的含量很少, Fe、Al、Mg、Ca、Mn、Nb、Ta、Cr和Zr含量相对较高, Rb、Sr、Ba含量极低, 部分微量元素(如Nb、Cr、Fe、V、W等)含量与其原岩有继承和对应关系;部分原生或/和退变角闪石的REE配分模式分别与单斜辉石和石榴石相似, 过渡族金属元素等的含量与石榴石、单斜辉石和全岩具有一定的相关性, 角闪石容纳Na、K、Sr、Rb、Ba等元素的能力较强, 其成分除受全岩成分的制约外, 石榴石、单斜辉石对其形成也有影响。榴辉岩类包体与其寄主中生代侵入杂岩中部分高价态/高场强元素(HFSE)和重稀土元素(HREE)呈相互消长的关系。榴辉岩的形成与扬子地块和华北地块之间的俯冲-碰撞作用有关。 相似文献

The dam area of the SUOXI hydropower project shows high terrain undulation and complex geological conditions, containing 6 faults and 7 weak inter-beds. A geometric model developed to represent the geology and engineering structures should incorporate the geological realities and should allow suitable mesh generation to perform numerical stress analysis. This is an important precondition to perform rock mass stability analysis of a dam foundation based on a numerical stress analysis software such as FLAC3D. Using the modeling tools available in FLAC3D, it is difficult to construct a complex geological model even after performing a large amount of plotting and data analyses. The 3-D geological modeling technique suggested in this paper, named as Sealed Geological Modeling (SGM), is a powerful tool for constructing complex geological models for rock engineering projects that require numerical stress analysis. Applying this technique, first, the geological interfaces are constructed for the dam area of SUOXI hydropower project using various interpolation procedures including geostatistical techniques. Then a unitary wire frame is constructed and the interfaces are connected seamlessly. As the next step, a block tracing technique is used to build a geological model that consists of 130 seamlessly connected blocks. Finally, based on the Advancing Front Technique (AFT), each block is discretized into tetrahedrons and a mesh is generated including 57,661 nodes and 215,471 tetrahedrons which is suitable to perform numerical stress analysis using FLAC3D. 相似文献

根据中国历史地震资料及现代地震观察资料,研究了鄂尔多斯地块周缘地震活动时间上的周期性及空间上的某些迁移特性。发现:地块周缘的地震活动有700—900年的活跃期;300—400年的活跃幕;20—30年的活跃段。在活跃期中,大震有绕地块周缘逆时针迁移趋势;在活跃幕、段中,中、强震有绕地块周缘顺、逆时针相间转动迁移趋势,并有对角、对边及反向迁移特征。 相似文献
