The Diamante-Terranova Unit (DIATU), in the Calabrian Arc of southern Italy, is part of an ophiolitic sequence involved in a high pressure/low temperature event (P=8 kbar; T =400 °C) followed by re-equilibration at greenschist facies conditions (P=3 kbar; T =300 °C). The rocks contain two types of quartz–calcite veins – an earlier generation of deformed, folded and faulted veins formed during or before subduction, and a later set of planar, undeformed veins formed during exhumation of the DIATU. The earlier folded quartz–calcite veins contain regularly shaped aqueous inclusions as well as inclusions with a highly irregular dendritic texture. The later planar veins contain only regularly shaped aqueous inclusions similar to those in the earlier veins. In both vein types, all inclusions are demonstrably secondary in origin. Regularly shaped inclusions from both vein types are low salinity (0–5 wt% NaCl). Most contain liquid and vapour and homogenize to the liquid (Th 135–180 °C), whereas others contain only liquid at room temperature. Both the two-phase and monophase inclusions occur in the same fractures and are thought to record the same trapping event, with the monophase inclusions remaining metastable liquid at room temperature. No microthermometric data could be obtained from the dendritic inclusions in the earlier folded veins. Inclusions with the highly irregular dendritic texture found in the earlier veins are similar to those produced experimentally during laboratory-induced deformation of synthetic inclusions in quartz under conditions of internal underpressure, simulating either isobaric cooling or isothermal compression. The occurrence of inclusions with the dendritic texture in the earlier folded veins, and their absence from the later planar veins, suggests that the earlier veins formed before or during subduction and were folded and faulted in a compressional environment and their contained fluid inclusions were modified to produce the dendritic texture. During later uplift of the DIATU, planar veins containing regularly shaped aqueous inclusions formed and some of the fluids forming these veins were also trapped as secondary inclusions in the earlier folded veins. The results of this study provide convincing evidence that inclusions with a highly irregular dendritic morphology represent early inclusions that have survived prograde conditions in a high pressure/low temperature metamorphic environment (but have been texturally modified). The high pressure/low temperature ‘implosion’ texture is preserved over geological time, even after being overprinted by internal overpressure conditions generated during retrograde decompression. We suggest that inclusions that have survived prograde metamorphism are common in high pressure/low temperature rocks, but are often not identified as such due to their morphology which makes their recognition difficult.  相似文献

预先导孔(CCSD-PP2) 位于苏鲁高压-超高压变质地体南部的北苏鲁超高压变质表壳剪切叠覆岩片中, 岩心主要由榴闪岩(包括角闪岩)、花岗片麻岩、副片麻岩和榴辉岩组成.镜下鉴定和激光拉曼测试结果表明预先导孔(CCSD-PP2) 第一段榴闪岩的主要矿物为角闪石、石榴石、黑云母和钠长石, 是榴辉岩退变质作用的产物.地球化学数据显示榴闪岩的化学成分与正常型榴辉岩相对应, 稀土元素组成及配分模式与主孔榴辉岩基本相似, 但微量元素特征及在地球化学判别图解上存在一定差异, 说明该段榴闪岩与主孔榴辉岩的原岩虽然都是形成于板内环境玄武岩类, 但它们并不完全相同, 其差异可能是由原岩性质的多样性及榴辉岩退变质过程中流体组分的加入引起的.榴闪岩及其下部花岗片麻岩内锆石中柯石英、绿辉石等矿物包裹体的发现及岩石学和地球化学特征等与主孔花岗片麻岩相似的性质, 以及在接触面附近榴闪岩中的SiO2含量具有逐渐增高的趋势等, 说明榴闪岩与花岗片麻岩曾一起俯冲到地下深处, 并在折返过程中经历了强烈的退变质作用, 它们之间可能存在一定程度的物质交换.   相似文献

本文是对“陕北鄂尔多斯盆地埋藏变质作用研究”一文的讨论,它综述并讨论了划分成岩作用和埋藏变质作用的指标,界线及其在鄂尔多斯盆地中的应用。伊利石结晶度、粘土矿物、浊沸石胶结物,石油形成,镜质体反射率,煤阶和地温等指标一致表明,鄂尔多斯盆地中生代地层处于中期成岩作用阶段,从而否定了本区为埋藏变质地区的结论。  相似文献

在新疆西天山3类榴辉岩中均发现了超高压变质矿物:在第Ⅰ类与蓝片岩互层的榴辉岩中发现了柯石英假像;在第Ⅱ类枕状榴辉岩的绿辉石中发现了石英出溶叶片;在第Ⅲ类产于大理岩中呈透镜状的方解石/白云石榴辉岩中发现了变质成因的菱镁矿。详细的岩石矿物学研究表明,第Ⅰ类榴辉岩3个阶段的变质演化温压条件为:UHP前变质阶段(356-433℃,0.8-1.0GPa)、峰期UHP榴辉岩相阶段(496-598℃,2.572-2.666GPa)和退变绿帘蓝片岩相阶段(500-530℃,1.0-1.2GPa),并建立了在NCMASCH(Na2O-CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2-CO2-H2O)体系中出现蓝闪石、石榴石、绿辉石、菱镁矿、白云石、黝帘石、柯石英、CO2和H2O的相平衡关系。经变质反应分析和相平衡理论计算西天山含菱镁矿的蓝闪石榴辉岩的变质峰期温压条件为:2.7-2.8GPa和525-607℃,XCO2低于0.006。超高压变质矿物的发展表明西天山榴辉岩经历了超高压变质作用,所谓的南天山造山带可能是世界上规模最大的由洋壳俯冲形成的超高压变质带。  相似文献

华中高压-超高压变质富铝岩石为陆壳岩石经变质而成,其典型的岩石类型为蓝晶石黄玉石英岩。矿物温压计估算其p-T条件为T=700℃,p=1.2GPa;高温高压实验结果表明,蓝晶石+黄玉组合在T=1000~1200℃,P=3.1~3.77GPa范围内可以稳定存在,是高压-超高压变质作用产物。在蓝晶石石英岩中发现柯石英及柯石英假象,区域上其它岩石组合也有高压-超高压变质作用的证据。变质富铝岩石为榴辉岩相变质作用产物,从而证明陆壳岩石可以经历>2.0GPa的变质压力条件。  相似文献

Gabbroic rocks and amphibolites were collected from the KR03‐01‐D10 dredge site located on the West Arm Rise of the Godzilla Megamullion, close to the Parece Vela Rift which appears to correspond to the termination area of a detachment fault, the Philippine Sea. The gabbroic rocks and amphibolites reveal the occurrence of a high hydrothermal activity in the lower crust close to a paleo‐ridge. In the gabbroic rocks, plagioclase compositions of both porphyroclasts and matrix were transformed into sodium‐rich compositions close to albite. Amphiboles are of secondary rather than igneous origin based on their microstructural occurrences. In the amphibolites, anorthite contents of porphyroclasts and matrix plagioclase are relatively lower than those of the gabbroic rocks, whereas the chemical compositions of amphibole within the amphibolites are similar to those of amphibole within the gabbroic rocks. Amphibolites represent the product of retrograde metamorphism associated with hydrothermal alteration of the gabbroic body by the reaction: clinopyroxene + calcic plagioclase + fluid → amphibole + sodic plagioclase. The estimated temperatures of the amphibolites derived from the amphibole thermobarometer and the gabbroic rocks derived from the hornblende–plagioclase geothermometer show ~700–950°C and 650–840°C, respectively. The hydrothermal alteration recorded in the gabbroic rocks possibly occurred under high‐T conditions; the rocks were then metamorphosed to the amphibolites during a retrogressive stage. Our study indicates that amphibolitization took place with various degrees of deformation. It may imply that the hydrothermal activity increased as the Godzilla Megamullion developed as an oceanic core complex in the paleo‐ridge.  相似文献

Evidence from rock microstructures, mass transfer and isotopic exchange indicates that substantial quantities of aqueous fluids are involved in low- and medium-grade regional metamorphism. Similar conclusions are drawn from many retrograde environments, whereas high-grade metamorphic fluids may be melt dominated. The mobile fluids play essential roles in metamorphic reactions, mass transport and deformation processes. These processes are linked by the mechanical consequences of metamorphic fluid pressures (Pf) generally being greater than or equal to the minimum principal compressive stress. Under such conditions metamorphic porosity comprises grain boundary tubules and bubbles together with continuously generated (and healed) microfractures. Deformation results in significant interconnected porosity and hence enhanced permeability. Lithologically and structurally controlled permeability variations may cause effective fluid channelling.
Simple Rayleigh-Darcy modelling of a uniformly permeable, crustal slab shows that convective instability of metamorphic fluid is expected at the permeabilities suggested for the high Pf metamorphic conditions. Complex, large-scale convective cells operating in overpressured, but capped systems may provide a satisfactory explanation for the large fluid/rock ratios and extensive mass transport demonstrated for many low- and medium-grade metamorphic environments. Such large-scale fluid circulation may have important consequences for heat transfer in and the thermal evolution of metamorphic belts.  相似文献

Abstract The metamorphic history of the Middle to Upper Jurassic volcanic and hypabyssal rocks exposed in the Klamath Mountains and Sierra Nevada of California is related, in part, to the rifting of a volcano-plutonic arc. The Callovian to Kimmeridgian rocks exposed in the region consist of, from north-west to south-east, a back-arc ophiolite, a rifted volcanic arc and a volcanic arc complex. All of these units have been metamorphosed and contain various combinations of the phases chlorite, amphibole, epidote, prehnite and pumpellyite. Projection of coexisting phases onto the composition plane MgO/(MgO + FeO) and Al2O3+ Fe2O3 - 0.75 CaO - Na2O through quartz, water, albite and epidote results in consistent mineralogical compatibilities within each region, but crossing tie-lines between regions. This suggests that the volcanic and hypabyssal rocks from each region have equilibrated under different intensive conditions. The back-arc ophiolite in the north has suffered subseafloor high-T/P hydrothermal metamorphism with geothermal gradients on the order of 100° C km?1. The rifted volcanic arc has undergone synchronous burial, hydrothermal and contact metamorphism. Metamorphic field gradients in the region pass through the prehnite-pumpellyite and greenschist facies suggesting geothermal gradients on the order of 30° C km?1. The southernmost volcanic arc complexes contain metavolcanics of the pumpellyiteactinolite and greenschist facies suggesting moderate- to high-P/T metamorphism and geothermal gradients on the order of 20° C km?1. The apparent increase in rifting and calculated geothermal gradients from south-east to north-west suggest that the observed very low- and low-grade metamorphism may be a response to enhanced thermal gradients during extension of the volcanic arc. This correlation between the extent of rifting and metamorphism is consistent with a model of diastathermal metamorphism of a propagating rift along the western margin of North America during the Late Jurassic. The plate tectonic setting may be analogous to the present-day Andaman Sea region.  相似文献
