Fine‐grained meandering systems of the Lower Permian Clear Fork Formation of north‐central Texas,USA: Lateral and oblique accretion on an arid plain

Facies models that adequately represent the diverse range of fine‐grained fluvial systems are currently lacking from the literature. In this paper, the spectrum of these systems on the arid plains of western equatorial Pangea is explored, as well as the source and nature of the fine‐grained sediments. Eight fluvial elements in the Early Permian Clear Fork Formation of north‐central Texas represent channel systems up to 7 m deep with coarse basal deposits, three types of lateral‐accretion deposits and sandstone sheets, with laminated, disrupted and massive mudstones laid down in abandoned channels and on floodplains. The three fine‐grained fluvial styles represent a continuum between two end‐members: sustained lateral accretion of bedload composed of quartzose sediments and mud aggregates on point bars, and oblique accretion of suspended sediment on steep accretionary benches and banks with limited lateral migration. This spectrum is controlled, in part, by grain size and the proportion of suspended to bedload sediments. The presence of rarely documented swept ripples on exhumed accretion surfaces is attributed to rapid decline in water levels and downstream re‐entry of overbank floodwaters into the channel. Rill casts, roots and disrupted mudstones low down in channel bodies indicate periods of near‐dryness. Laterally extensive sheet sandstones were formed by episodic flows in broad, sandbed channels. The fluvial sediments were primarily intrabasinally sourced with extrabasinal sediments brought in during major floods from upland source areas or reworked from local storage in the basin, representing a supply limited system. The upward change in cement composition from mainly calcite and ankerite to dolomite and gypsum with minor celestine implies increasingly saline groundwater and progressive aridification, supporting Late Palaeozoic palaeoclimatic models. By integrating petrographic data with sedimentology, a plethora of information about ancient landscapes and climate is provided, allowing a fuller comparison between the Clear Fork Formation and modern dryland alluvial plains. 相似文献

The uncertainty in terms of soil characterisation is studied to assess its effect on the structural behaviour of extended structures as sheet pile walls. A finite element model is used. This integrates a numerical model of the soil–structure interaction together with a stochastic model that allows characterising the soil variability. The model serves in propagating the variability and the system parameter uncertainties. Discussion is mainly focused on two points: (1) testing the sensitivity of the structural behaviour of a sheet pile wall to different geotechnical parameters and (2) assessing the influence of spatial variability of soil properties on the structural behaviour by identifying the most sensitive geotechnical parameter and the most significant correlation length values. The findings showed that in assessing the sheet pile wall’s structural behaviour, there are spatial variability parameters that cannot be considered negligible. 近年来,我国明确提出“探索编制自然资源资产负债表,对领导干部实行自然资源资产离任审计”。但如何将自然资源资产负债表运用于地方领导干部自然资源离任审计实践,目前仍处于探索阶段。从制度功能角度来看,在地方领导干部自然资源资产离任审计中,自然资源资产负债表通过为领导干部离任审计提供有效的基础信息,减少自然资源管理风险,使自然资源资产离任审计有效约束领导干部任期内自然资源管理工作,充分提高自然资源管理效率。用资产负债表模糊综合评价法对我国典型的干旱、半干旱区水资源短缺的甘肃省2014-2016年内水资源管理与保护的履责情况进行综合评价。结果表明,以自然资源资产负债表为基础的领导干部自然资源离任审计,能够通过自然资源管理责任变动状况的评价指标,深入分析地方政府自然资源管理存在的问题,总体评价领导干部任期内自然资源管理的有效性。 相似文献

本文进行了8根高强混凝土柱在低周反复荷载作用下的试验,研究了使用碳纤维布横向包裹的高强混凝土柱来提高其延性这种加固方法的有效性。本文研究了碳纤维布横向包裹高强混凝土柱的受力特性,分析了加荷角度,碳纤维布拉伸强度以及碳纤维布的包裹层数等因素对构件抗震加效果的影响,并对碳纤维布加固高强混凝土柱使其延性提高的机理进行了探讨,试验结果表明,横向缠裹碳纤维布可显著提高高强混凝土柱的延性。 相似文献

Four phyllosilicate-rich micrometeorites (MMs) were investigated by a synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction technique and transmission electron microscopy. Three are saponite-rich MMs and one is a serpentine-rich one. In the saponite-rich MMs, we could not find serpentine, and vice versa in the serpentine-rich MM. In the saponite-rich MMs, major constituent minerals are saponite, Fe- and Ni-bearing sulfides, and magnetite. Two saponite-rich MMs contain fine-grained magnesiowüstite-rich aggregates. The aggregates consist of <50 nm polygonal magnesiowüstite coexisting with minor Fe sulfide grains. Their texture, chemical composition, and the result of heating experiments on matrix fragments of the Tagish Lake carbonaceous chondrite strongly suggest that these aggregates were formed by the breakdown of Mg- and Fe-rich carbonate grains when the MMs entered the Earth’s atmosphere. The estimated major mineral assemblage of the saponite-rich MMs before entering the Earth’s atmosphere is very similar to that of the Tagish Lake carbonate-rich lithology, and we suggest that the MMs and the meteorite were derived from similar asteroids. The major mineral assemblage and texture of the matrix of serpentine-rich MM are similar to the matrix of the Sayama CM2 chondrite that experienced heavy aqueous alteration. Chemical compositions of serpentine in the MM suggest that the degree of aqueous alteration of the MM is weaker than that of Sayama. In the MM, cronstedtite does not coexist with tochilinite, which is different from CM2 chondrites that experienced weak to moderate aqueous alteration. However, the possibility that the serpentine-rich MM was derived from the CM chondrite asteroid cannot be ruled out, because tochilinite can be preferentially decomposed during atmospheric entry heating due to its lower decomposition temperature than that of cronstedtite. 相似文献
