Tectonic processes are widely considered as a mechanism causing carbonate platform margin instabilities leading to the emplacement of mass transport deposits and calciturbidites. However, only few examples establishing a clear link between tectonics and re-sedimentation processes are known from the literature. The two-dimensional and three-dimensional wire-cut walls of hundreds of quarries extracting ornamental limestones (for example, Perlato di Sicilia) from the Western Sicily Cretaceous Escarpment in Italy expose a series of mass transport deposits. The depositional architecture, spatial facies distribution and sedimentary features of these deposits were studied in detail. Thin section analysis was used to define the microfacies characteristics and to determine the age of the re-sedimented limestones. Eleven facies types grouped into four facies associations were recognized that defined specific depositional processes and environments. The stratigraphic architecture of the slope was reconstructed using four composite facies successions based on the detailed analysis and correlation of the field sections. The palaeoslope orientation was reconstructed based on the analysis of synsedimentary faults, slump scars and pinch-out geometries. The Western Sicily Cretaceous Escarpment was strongly influenced by synsedimentary transtensional tectonics in combination with magmatic processes, as suggested by the presence of tuffites and pillow lava intercalations within the re-sedimented carbonate series. These volcanics point to a major role of crustal shear as a trigger for mass transport deposit emplacement. The facies distribution along the Western Sicily Cretaceous Escarpment delivers new insights into the deformation processes accompanying the crustal extension of the Cretaceous western Tethys realm.  相似文献

In the Precambrian rocks west and southwest of the Mount Isa Fault three significant fold generations are recognized. Within individual successions, units containing an early phase of deformation are juxtaposed by a late fault against a sequence that does not share these earlier events.

Many of the large‐scale structures in the Judenan Beds are first‐generation folds, whereas west of the Judenan Beds the area is dominated by second‐generation folds. These two sets of folds are tentatively correlated and are referred to as the Judenan Folds. An earlier set of pre‐Judenan folding is only found in the units west of the Judenan Beds. One phase of the Sybella Granite is also associated with the Judenan folding. Later small‐scale folds associated with a crenulation cleavage are, however, of little regional importance and are commonly found only in zones of highly deformed rocks.  相似文献

为进一步查清东北亚完达山地体与两侧的佳木斯地块、兴凯地块间接触关系以及对跃进山拼贴带域沉积盆地油气条件的控制作用,布设5条MT剖面,计长1104 km.结果显示:(1)研究区地电学结构主要特征为佳木斯地块从中部向南北两方向,这一稳定地块的“高阻核”减薄,兴凯地块的高阻块体自东而西逐渐加深增厚,完达山地体在南部具有较多的高阻块体,向北渐少.(2)完达山地体西南端呈一“牛角”形状范围把佳木斯地块和兴凯地块分开;与原认识的完达山地体、佳木斯地块在同江-宝清-当壁一带贴合的位置相比,从宝清开始向南移至麻山-桦林一带.(3)完达山地体构造成因包括两部分,一是俯冲引起的拼贴,二是软流圈物质的热上涌;佳木斯地块内所存在的“高阻核”边界可能是该地块东界.(4)4个沉积盆地除勃利盆地外,另外3个盆地的基底间或存在规模不大的高阻块,大多范围分布着高导带,对盆地的成烃环境是有利的.  相似文献

沉积型铜矿作为重要的铜矿类型之一,一直是工业界找矿和开发的重点。中非铜(-钴)矿带是世界著名的巨型沉积型铜矿带之一。赞比亚谦比希铜矿是我国企业在非洲矿业开发的成功典范项目,其矿体分布和产状严格受新元古代加丹加超群的下罗恩组地层控制,含矿岩石为下罗恩组下部的含矿泥质页岩、砂岩。本文通过对谦比希铜矿的矿床地质特征、成矿地质背景、成岩-成矿规律的详细研究,揭示了其含矿地层和矿体明显受古沉积环境、基底形态的控制;成岩-成矿过程经历了海侵-海退过程,沉积古地理环境为滨浅海蒸发背景。赞比亚铜带省和西北省拥有巨大的资源和找矿潜力,未来必将吸引更多投资。  相似文献

Magmatism at Andean Central Volcanic Zone (CVZ), or Central Andes, is strongly influenced by differentiation and assimilation at high pressures that occurred at lower levels of the thick continental crust. This is typically shown by high light to heavy rare earth element ratios (LREE/HREE) of the erupted lavas at this volcanic zone. Increase of these ratios with time is interpreted as a change to magma evolution in the presence of garnet during evolution of Central Andes. Such geochemical signals could be introduced into the magmas be high-pressure fractionation with garnet on the liquidus and/or assimilation from crustal rocks with a garnet-bearing residue. However, lavas erupted at San Pedro–Linzor volcanic chain show no evidence of garnet fractionation in their trace element patterns. This volcanic chain is located in the active volcanic arc, between 22°00S and 22°30S, over a continental crust ∼70 km thick. Sampled lavas show Sr/Y and Sm/Yb ratios <40 and <4.0, respectively, which is significantly lower than for most other lavas of recent volcanoes in the Central Andes. In addition, 87Sr/86Sr ratios from San Pedro–Linzor lava flows vary between 0.7063 and 0.7094. This is at the upper range, and even higher than those observed at other recent Central Andean volcanic rocks (<0.708). The area in which the San Pedro–Linzor volcanic chain is located is constituted by a felsic, Proterozoic upper crust, and a thin mafic lower crustal section (<25 km). Also, the NW–SE orientation of the volcanic chain is distinctive with respect to the N–S orientation of Central Andean volcanic front in northern Chile. We relate our geochemical observations to shallow crustal evolution of primitive magmas involving a high degree of assimilation of upper continental crust. We emphasize that low pressure AFC- (Assimilation Fractional Crystallization) type evolution of the San Pedro–Linzor volcanic chain reflects storage, fractionation, and contamination of mantle-derived magmas at the upper felsic crust (<40 km depth). The ascent of mantle-derived magmas to mid-crustal levels is related with the extensional regime that has existed in this zone of arc-front offset since Late-Miocene age, and the relatively thin portion of mafic lower crust observed below the volcanic chain.  相似文献

中亚地区的地貌自中生代以来发生过两次巨变:一次是青藏高原的隆起,另一次是中生代中国东部高原及其西侧共存的中亚准平原的兴衰。青藏高原的隆起引起了全球气候和中亚环境的巨变。对此,自80年代以来开展的国际合作已经在地质学和地球物理学等研究领域取得了丰硕的成果。不过,在解释高原隆升—气候变化—剥蚀作用的相互关系方面仍存歧见。相比之下,中亚地区中生代的地貌巨变尚属新的研究课题。人们认识到,中亚地区在中侏罗世至新近纪曾存在一个准平原,而在中国东部则存在一个中生代高原。这一中生代地貌巨变引发出许多新的思考,如:为什么这一中生代准平原能保存长达150 Ma?中国东部高原是怎样形成的,又是怎样消失的?这两次地貌巨变及其相关的岩石圈动力学将是“TOPO?CENTRAL?ASIA”这一国际岩石圈计划项目的研究主题。  相似文献

摘要:北京房山变质核杂岩是典型的板内变质核杂岩。由核部的结晶基底及顶部的变余糜棱岩带、固态流变的中间层和脆性剪裂的上部盖层组成三层结构。核部有强力侵位的早白垩世的房山花岗闪长岩株。地壳的韧性伸展表现于下古生界及其前的盖层岩系中,形成于印支期前,反映了强烈的区域古地热异常。印支期的南北向挤压造就了区域构造格局。燕山期的岩浆侵入使变质核杂岩定型。新生代的差异性隆升使核杂岩最终出露地表。幔源热异常、基底热隆及岩浆的强力侵位是核杂岩形成的主要因素.  相似文献

Plastic ingestion by planktivorous fishes in the North Pacific Central Gyre   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A significant amount of marine debris has accumulated in the North Pacific Central Gyre (NPCG). The effects on larger marine organisms have been documented through cases of entanglement and ingestion; however, little is known about the effects on lower trophic level marine organisms. This study is the first to document ingestion and quantify the amount of plastic found in the gut of common planktivorous fish in the NPCG. From February 11 to 14, 2008, 11 neuston samples were collected by manta trawl in the NPCG. Plastic from each trawl and fish stomach was counted and weighed and categorized by type, size class and color. Approximately 35% of the fish studied had ingested plastic, averaging 2.1 pieces per fish. Additional studies are needed to determine the residence time of ingested plastics and their effects on fish health and the food chain implications.  相似文献

利用1949~1996年48年西北太平洋热带气旋(TC)的年个数资料和1958~1997年40年南亚高压(SAH)特征参数的月平均资料,讨论了西北太平洋TC年个数的年际、年代际变化、年个数周期和周期能量等特点及其与SAH特征参数的关系和异常TC年前期SAH环流场和100 hPa高度场的特征。结果表明,西北太平洋TC具有明显的年际和年代际变化,前期SAH对当年TC频数有一定影响,SAH中心位置偏北、偏西,中心强度偏弱时,当年TC偏多,反之,当年TC偏少。  相似文献

华北克拉通前寒武纪基底可划分为东部地块、中部带和西部地块。中生代以来,华北克拉通发生减薄破坏,其破坏中心位于东部地块,而西部地块与中部带基本保持完整,其过渡带就是太行山东侧。太行山地区近乎平行发育着两条重要的断裂:太行山大断裂和太行山山前断裂,统称为太行山东麓断裂带。通过研究发现,太行山山前断裂是继承早前寒武纪构造带形成的断裂,控制着太行山与东部地块前寒武纪基底的差异,古新世以来发生板内构造地貌的负反转,构成渤海湾盆地的西界断裂。太行山大断裂则在燕山期时为重要的逆冲断裂,对太行山的隆起起着重要作用;中新世以来,伴随着山西地堑系的形成,太行山大断裂发生构造负反转,控制着一系列山间地堑的发育。新生代以来,该区构造演化特征整体表现为向西构造迁移的特点,是区域走滑伸展背景下的一种新的板内盆山关系。  相似文献
