Some statistical properties of the summer monsoon seasonal rainfall for India during the last 100 years (1881–1980) are presented.
The most recent decade of 1971–1980 shows the lowest value of standard-decadal average monsoon rainfall (86.40 cm) and is
also characterised by the second highest value of coefficient of variation in monsoon rainfall (12.4 %). The combined last
two standard-decadal period of 1961–1980 was the period of the largest coefficient of variation and the lowest average monsoon
rainfall for India.
The possible influence of global climatic variability on the performance of the monsoon is also examined. Analyses of correlation
coefficient show that a statistically significant positive relationship with a time-lag of about six months exists between
monsoon rainfall and northern hemispheric surface air temperature. A cooler northern hemisphere during January/February leads
to a poor monsoon.
All the major drought years during the last 3 decades had much cooler January/February periods over the northern hemisphere—1972
having the coldest January/February with a temperature departure of −0.94°C and the most disastrous monsoon failure. 相似文献

Abstract Mylonites from shear zones cutting Hercynian gneisses in the central Pyrenees have been studied in thin section and using the electron microprobe. The shear zones contain retrogressive greenschist facies assemblages implying introduction of an aqueous fluid during deformation in the zones. Textural evidence suggests that fluid-rock interaction occurred throughout the active life of the shear zones.
Whole-rock chemical changes during deformation are documented in a variety of mylonitic lithologies and retrogressed country rocks. The overall effect was to reduce chemical differences between lithologies. Activity diagrams show that this would be expected if a hydrous fluid was circulating between different lithologies during deformation. In most cases fluid/rock ratios were relatively small resulting in gradual chemical changes and repeated recrystallization. 'Open-system'behaviour with reduction in the number of phases is seen in some granite mylonites, suggesting focusing of fluid movement in parts of the shear zones. Continual fluid-rock interaction may have led to reaction-enhanced ductility in the shear zones over a long period of time. The identification of mean semi-major axes (suitably defined) for satellite orbits to satisfy a variety of requirements for
geodesy, geophysics and oceanography, in terms of repeat orbits (with orbital resonances), is investigated. Various options
for the definition of semi-major axis, from the viewpoint of satellite dynamics, are described. Simple simulations of the
expected resonant changes in inclination are presented, and tools for the analysis of orbit resonances to extract certain
lumped harmonic coefficients of the geopotential (e.g. from the very precise CHAMP orbit) are resurrected. Finally, a preliminary
example of the 46th-order resonance analysis possible for CHAMP, based on the mean orbital elements produced by GFZ (GeoForschungs
Zentrum) for ephemeris prediction, is presented.

The non‐stationary cross‐correlation coefficients in the seismic analysis of MDOF structural systems
A method concerning the evaluation, in a very compact form, of the non‐stationary modal cross‐correlation coefficients of MDOF structural systems subjected to seismic excitations is presented. It is available both in the case when the excitation is considered as a white‐noise process and when it is considered as a filtered process. The evaluation of these coefficients is required when a transient seismic analysis is performed by the use of the modal response spectrum approach. 对南极气温资料、环南极海冰资料、太平洋海温资料、厄尔尼诺和拉尼娜资料的模拟验证,发现厄尔尼诺事件发生与德雷克海峡海冰减少在时间上有对应关系。南极半岛海冰减少是太平洋环流速度减慢的原因,德雷克海峡的海冰起重要作用。这一综合检验结果给出以日食—厄尔尼诺系数预测厄尔尼诺事件的有效性和准确性。两年周期的太平洋海温振荡使日食与厄尔尼诺之间存在12~24个月的位相差。 相似文献

Factors Influencing the Release of DOC and AOX out of Former Wastewater Infiltration Soils The influence of soil and of infiltration water quality on the release of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and adsorbable organic halogens (AOX) from two former wastewater infiltration sites was investigated in laboratory column studies. Desorption was the most important factor influencing release processes. It depends on the amount of sorbent and sorbate and the strength of binding. Therefore, for constant irrigation rates a higher soil organic carbon content coincided with higher DOC-contents of the column effluent, while the irrigation water quality was of minor importance. Within one system the dependencies of AOX release and DOC mobilization were found to be similar. Transferring these dependencies on other systems has its limitations because of a different binding quality between sorbent and sorbate. 相似文献

Even with the flow of water over a soil surface in which roughness elements are well inundated, and in less erosive situations where erosional bed forms are not pronounced, the magnitude of resistance coefficients in equations such as those of Darcy–Weisbach, Chezy or Manning vary with flow velocity (at least). Using both original laboratory and field data, and data from the literature, the paper examines this question of the apparent variation of resistance coefficients in relation to flow velocity, even in the absence of interaction between hydraulics and resulting erosional bed forms. Resistance equations are first assessed as to their ability to describe overland flow velocity when tested against these data sources. The result is that Manning's equation received stronger support than the Darcy–Weisbach or Chezy equations, though all equations were useful. The second question addressed is how best to estimate velocity of overland flow from measurements of slope and unit discharge, recognizing that the apparent flow velocity variation in resistance coefficients is probably a result of shortcomings in all of the listed resistance equations. A new methodology is illustrated which gives good agreement between estimated and measured flow velocity for both well-inundated sheet and rill flow.
