Coastal sand samples collected from the northern part of Nisyros volcanic island (Dodecanese, Greece) were investigated for first time for their potential in strategic metals and compared with parental rocks of the island which are Quaternary volcanics with alternating lava flows, pyroclastic layers and lava domes and relevant materials located near granitoids of Northern Greece. The PXRD and SEM-EDS study of the sands revealed enhanced content of feldspars, Fe-Mn oxides, magnetite, tourmaline, pyroxenes, ilmenites, along with zircons, apatite and sulfide inclusions. The fresh hydrothermally deposited clayely material collected from the Nisyros caldera crater had a rather different mineralogical composition from the coastal one (alunite, anhydrite, opal-CT, quartz, kaolinite). UCC-normalized spidergrams indicated that the weathering processes contributed to accumulation of heavy minerals (mainly ilmenite), and strategic metals including V (1920 mg/kg) and Nb (245 mg/kg), in the coastal sand. The low REE concentration (ΣREE + Y = 240 mg/kg) could be attributed to the absence of REE-rich minerals. Moreover, the sands exhibit different geochemical patterns compared to the volcanic source rocks of the island, which are especially enriched in Large-Ion Lithophile Elements (LILE) and depleted in High Field Strength Elements (HFSE), such as Nb and Ta. On the other hand, the caldera material is enriched in volatile components, sulfur, chalcophile elements (Se, Bi, Hg, As, Pb) and Ba. Micro-XRF analyses of representative crystals showed that the high Nb content of the sands was associated with the Ti/Fe-rich phases (e.g. ilmenites). The geochemical composition of N Greece sands showed, because of their origin, enrichment not only in HFSE but also in REE.The study of the coastal heavy mineral sands originating from different geological environments of Greece provides information about the association of their mineral components with REE, other elements of economic interest (e.g. Co, Nb, Ta) and natural actinides. In addition, the study of the black sands of Nisyros island could be considered as a characteristic example of those from other parts of Hellenic Volcanic Arc (HVA) and other relevant Mediterranean regions.  相似文献

云南格咱岛弧带是近年来西南三江特提斯构造带新发现的重要Cu-Mo多金属成矿带之一,燕山晚期伴随着碰撞型岩浆侵入作用形成了斑岩-矽卡岩型Mo(Cu)和热液型W(Mo)矿床。其中,热林Mo-Cu矿床是区内燕山晚期成岩成矿作用的代表性矿床。本文对热林Mo-Cu矿床二长花岗岩进行了锆石LA-ICP-MS U-Pb定年、岩石地球化学和Lu-Hf同位素分析。结果表明,热林二长花岗岩属高硅(SiO_2=69.88%~74.58%)、富碱(K_2O+Na_2O=7.24%~8.62%)的高钾钙碱性、准铝质(A/CNK=0.93~1.05)花岗岩。岩石具有较高的稀土元素总量(∑REE为(80.72~284.85)×10-6,平均值为190.86×10-6),轻重稀土元素分馏程度较高,具Eu负异常(δEu=0.46~0.83),相对富集LREE和LILE(K、Rb),亏损HFSE(Nb、Ta、P、Ti)和HREE,具埃达克岩亲和性。本文两件二长花岗岩样品的锆石U-Pb年龄分别为79.4±2.0 Ma(MSWD=1.1)、78±1.6 Ma(MSWD=1.8),代表了热林Mo-Cu矿床二长花岗岩的岩浆侵位结晶时代为燕山晚期;锆石的εHf(t)值为-12.12~-4.41,均小于0,二阶段模式年龄峰值在1.35~1.4Ga之间,揭示了热林二长花岗岩来源于中元古代地壳基底的深熔作用。研究表明,热林二长花岗岩是碰撞后的陆内伸展环境下壳源岩浆侵位结晶的产物,并伴随有成矿热液活动形成了Mo-Cu多金属矿化,最终形成热林Mo-Cu多金属矿床,其成岩成矿作用与燕山期碰撞造山作用密切相关。  相似文献

Detrital zircon from the Carboniferous Girrakool Beds in the central Tablelands Complex of the southern New England Orogen, Australia, is dominated by ca 350–320 Ma grains with a peak at ca 330 Ma; there are very few Proterozoic or Archean grains. A maximum deposition age for the Girrakool Beds of ca 309 Ma is identified. These data overlap the age of the Carboniferous Keepit arc, a continental volcanic arc along the western margin of the Tamworth Belt. Zircon trace-element and isotopic compositions support petrographic evidence of a volcanic arc provenance for sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks of the central Tablelands Complex. Zircon Hf isotope data for ca 350–320 Ma detrital grains become less radiogenic over the 30 million-year record. This pattern is observed with maturation of continental volcanic arcs but is opposite to the longer-term pattern documented in extensional accretionary orogens, such as the New England Orogen. Volcanic activity in the Keepit arc is inferred to decrease rapidly at ca 320 Ma, based on a major change in the detrital zircon age distribution. Although subduction continues, this decrease is inferred to coincide with the onset of trench retreat, slab rollback and the eastward migration of the magmatic arc that led to the Late Carboniferous to early Permian period of extension, S-type granite production and intrusion into the forearc basin, high-temperature–low-pressure metamorphism, and development of rift basins such as the Sydney–Gunnedah–Bowen system.  相似文献

Cenozoic continental arc magmatism and associated mineralization in Ecuador   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Most of the economic ore deposits of Ecuador are porphyry-Cu and epithermal style gold deposits associated with Tertiary continental arc magmatism. This study presents major and trace element geochemistry, as well as radiogenic isotope (Pb, Sr) signatures, of continental arc magmatic rocks of Ecuador of Eocene to Late Miocene (~50–9 Ma, ELM) and Late Miocene to Recent (~8–0 Ma, LMR) ages. The most primitive ELM and LMR rocks analyzed consistently display similar trace element and isotopic signatures suggesting a common origin, most likely an enriched MORB-type mantle. In contrast, major and trace element geochemistry, as well as radiogenic isotope systematics of the whole sets of ELM and LMR samples, indicate strikingly different evolutions between ELM and LMR rocks. The ELM rocks have consistently low Sr/Y, increasing Rb/Sr, and decreasing Eu/Gd with SiO2, suggesting an evolution through plagioclase-dominated fractional crystallization at shallow crustal levels (<20 km). The LMR rocks display features of adakite-type magmas (high Sr/Y, low Yb, low Rb/Sr) and increasing Eu/Gd and Gd/Lu ratios with SiO2. We explain the adakite-type geochemistry of LMR rocks, rather than by slab melting, by a model in which mantle-derived melts partially melt and assimilate residual garnet-bearing mafic lithologies at deeper levels than those of plagioclase stability (i.e., >20 km), and most likely at sub-crustal levels (>40–50 km). The change in geochemical signatures of Tertiary magmatic rocks of Ecuador from the ELM- to the LMR-type coincides chronologically with the transition from a transpressional to a compressional regime that occurred at ~9 Ma and has been attributed by other investigations to the onset of subduction of the aseismic Carnegie ridge.The major districts of porphyry-Cu and epithermal deposits of Ecuador (which have a small size, <<200 Mt, when compared to their Central Andean counterparts) are spatially and temporally associated with ELM magmatic rocks. No significant porphyry-Cu and epithermal deposits (except the epithermal high-sulfidation mineralization of Quimsacocha) appear to be associated with Late Miocene-Recent (LMR, ~8–0 Ma) magmatic rocks. The apparent infertility of LMR magmas seems to be at odds with the association of major porphyry-Cu/epithermal deposits of the Central Andes with magmatic rocks having adakite-type geochemical signatures similar to LMR rocks. The paucity of porphyry-Cu/epithermal deposits associated with LMR rocks might be only apparent and bound to exposure level, or real and bound (among other possibilities) to the lack of development of shallow crustal magmatic chambers since ~9 Ma as a result of a prolonged compressional regime in the Ecuadorian crust. In the Ladakh–Zanskar area, relicts of both ophiolites and paleo-accretionary prism have been preserved in the Sapi-Shergol mélange zone. The paleo-accretionary prism, related to the northward subduction of the northern Neo-Tethys beneath the Ladakh Asian margin, mainly consists of tectonic intercalations of sedimentary and blueschist facies rocks. Whole rock chemical composition data provide new constraints on the origin of both the ophiolitic and the blueschist facies rocks. The ophiolitic rocks are interpreted as relicts of the south Ladakh intra-oceanic arc that were incorporated in the accretionary prism during imbrication of the arc. The blueschist facies rocks were previously interpreted as oceanic island basalts (OIB), but our new data suggest that the protolith of some of the blueschists is a calc-alkaline igneous rock that formed in an arc environment. These blueschists most likely originated from the south Ladakh intra-oceanic arc. This arc was accreted to the southern margin of Asia during the Late Cretaceous and the buried portion was metamorphosed under blueschist facies conditions. Following oceanic subduction, the external part of the arc was obducted to form the south Ladakh ophiolites or was incorporated into the Sapi-Shergol mélange zone. The incorporation of the south Ladakh arc into the accretionary prism implies that the complete closure of the Neo-Tethys likely occurred by Eocene time.  相似文献

Abstract The Southern Uralides are a collisional orogen generated in the Late Devonian–Early Carboniferous by the collision of the Magnitogorsk island arc (MA) generated in the Early to Middle Devonian by intra‐oceanic convergence opposite to the continental margin, and the continental margin of the East European craton. A suture zone of the arc to the continental margin, the Main Uralian Fault (MUF), is marked by ophiolites and exhumed high‐pressure–low‐temperature metamorphic rocks of continental origin. The pre‐orogenic events of the Southern Urals and their geodynamic setting are traced by means of fluid‐immobile incompatible trace elements (rare earth elements and high field strength elements) and Sr–Nd–Pb isotope geochemistry of the MA suites, in particular the protoarc suite with boninites and probably ankaramites, and the mature arc comprised of island arc tholeiitic (IAT) suites, transitional IAT to calc‐alkaline (CA), and CA suites. The MA volcanics result in genetically distinct magmatic source components. In particular, depleted normal‐mid‐oceanic ridge basalt‐type mantle sources with various enrichments in a slab‐derived aqueous fluid component are evident. The enriched component is not involved in significant amounts, as testified by the rather radiogenic Nd isotopes and unradiogenic Pb isotopes. Further information on the pre‐orogenic events is provided by the Mindyak Massif metagabbros derived from diverse gabbroic protoliths that were affected by oceanic rodingitization, and subsequently by a high‐temperature (HT) metamorphism related to the development of a metamorphic sole. The HT metamorphism has the same age as the protoarc volcanism, and constrains the initiation of subduction at approximately 410 Ma. Consequently, the maximum timespan between initial intra‐oceanic convergence and final collision is approximately 31 my, a duration consistent with that of present‐day ongoing collisions in the western Pacific. The characteristics of early volcanism and the traces of a metamorphic sole provide useful criteria to attribute most MUF ophiolites to the Tethyan type with a complex pre‐orogenic evolution.  相似文献

从数字高程数据(DEM)中自动提取自然水系及汇水盆地,并在GIS平台中表示出来,是开展基于GIS的区域水资源勘查与评价研究工作的基础,具有重要的实际意义。这里提出了一种根据自然水系自动提取结果,圈定各级水系汇水盆地,并将其表示成GIS中矢量图形数据的算法。该算法包括以下四个进程:①以水流方向数据和自然水系的分级标识数据为依据,将同一级别每一条水系汇水盆地内的栅格自动识别出来;②根据不同水系汇水盆地栅格的标识数据,自动搜索汇水盆地的边界栅格;③确定不同水系汇水盆地的分界线,并计算分界线上各个节点的X-Y坐标;④建立不同水系汇水盆地空间实体的拓扑关系,生成GIS可以识别的矢量图形数据。用我国东天山地区的DEM数据进行了算法的试验研究,实验结果表明,该算法是可行的。  相似文献

Disposal of industrial solid wastes in a hydrologic environment can cause environmental risks due to the mobility of toxic trace elements. It is increasingly important to find simple and inexpensive treatments to remove undesirable elements from industrial solid wastes. One of the most important problems in the secondary steel mill industry is the disposition of dusts produced from electric arc furnace. A large quantity (10-20 kg) of electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) is generated per ton of steel produced. The Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) shows that the total Cr and Cr (Ⅵ) concentrations (9.7 and 6.1 mg/L respectively) from the EAFD studied exceeded the Toxicity Characteristic Regulatory Level. Some heavy metals of EAFD like chromium are toxics and have high solubility. Chromium (Ⅵ) is particularly problematic because it must initially be reduced before fixed in an insoluble phase. To counter this problem, the use of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) was investigated. Column leaching test was performed to evaluate the leaching of EAFD amended with GGBFS and OPC under dynamic conditions simulating heap leaching. The goal of this study is to find a simple and economic way to decrease contaminants in the leachate. Test columns have been set up to evaluate the effect of alkaline additives (OPC and GGBFS) on the geochemistry of drainage water. The control column consists of EADF only. A set of columns presents the effect of the addition of 5% by mass of OPC or GGBFS mixed homogeneously with the EAFD. Another set of columns was set up with the same quantities of OPC and GGBFS but concentrated at the base of the EAFD simulating a liner. Columns were fed three times weakly during 1 month. The parameters monitored after each flush of water include leachate volume, pH, electrical conductance and water quality (Cr-Ni-Pb-Zn concentrations). The leaching of the control (EAFD only) presents high Cr concentration.  相似文献

Abstract   In southern New Caledonia, Late Oligocene granodiorite and adamellite are intruded into an ultramafic allochthon emplaced in the Late Eocene period. Previous studies of these granitoids proposed an origin associated with the melting of the underlying continental crust, but our new data show that these high-K to medium-K calc-alkaline granitoids display the geochemical and isotopic features of volcanic arc magmas uncontaminated by crust-derived melts. These magmas were probably generated in a post-Eocene and pre-Miocene subduction, the geophysical traces of which have been detected along the western coast of New Caledonia. Sr, Nd and Pb isotopic ratios indicate derivation from an almost isotopically homogeneous mantle wedge, but in contrast, some variation in trace element ratios uncorrelated to differentiation is indicative of source heterogeneity. Prominent heavy rare earth element (HREE) depletion of some of the younger granitoids may be the result of an equilibrium achieved with garnet-bearing subcrustal material (granulite) found as xenoliths, while a relative Nb, Ta and Hf enrichment, irrespective of crystal fractionation, may be related to either a modest contamination by previously underplated mafic material, heterogeneous hydration of the mantle wedge, or mixing with uplifted Nb-rich mantle. Post-obduction slab break-off can be proposed to have played a role in sublithospheric mantle mixing and the subsequent heterogeneity. The Late Oligocene subduction described here may be tentatively extended southward into northern New Zealand allochthons.  相似文献
