Using a net surface heat flux (Qnet) product obtained from the objectively analyzed air-sea fluxes (OAFlux) project and the international satellite cloud climatology project (ISCCP), and temperature from the simple ocean data assimilation (SODA), the seasonal variations of the air-sea heat fluxes in the northwestern Pa cific marginal seas (NPMS) and their roles in sea surface temperature (SST) seasonality are studied. The seasonal variations of Qnet, which is generally determined by the seasonal cycle of latent heat flux (LH), are in response to the advection-induced changes of SST over the Kuroshio and its extension. Two dynamic regimes are identified in the NPMS: one is the area along the Kuroshio and its extension, and the other is the area outside the Kuroshio. The oceanic thermal advection dominates the variations of SST and hence the sea-air humidity plays a primary role and explains the maximum heat losing along the Kuroshio. The heat transported by the Kuroshio leads to a longer period of heat losing over the Kuroshio and its Extension. Positive anomaly of heat content corresponds with the maximum heat loss along the Kuroshio. The oceanic advection controls the variations of heat content and hence the surface heat flux. This study will help us understand the mechanism controlling variations of the coupled ocean-atmosphere system in the NPMS. In the Kuroshio region, the ocean current controls the ocean temperature along the main stream of the Ku roshio, and at the same time, forces the air-sea fluxes. 相似文献

气候模式是研究气候系统和气候变化的重要工具,气候模式结果是进行气候预测和气候变化风险评估的重要依据。基于中国西北干旱区78个气象站点1960-2005年的观测数据,对最新公布的CMIP5的39个模式在中国西北干旱区1960-2005年平均气温、降水的模拟能力进行评估。结果表明:多个模式模拟年平均气温与观测值的相关系数达到0.39,夏、秋季节的相关系数好于春、冬季,年平均气温模拟大多偏低2℃以上,其中MIROC4h、CCSM4和CMCC-CM对年平均气温的模拟绝对误差较小。模拟的年、季降水量与观测值的相关系数很差,均不到0.1。年降水量模拟普遍偏高100 mm以上,其中CMCC-CM、CNRM-CM5和MRI-CGCM3对年降水量模拟绝对误差较小。年际变化趋势上,模拟的平均气温升高趋势和降水量增加趋势均比观测趋势要低,模拟的冬季平均气温升高趋势偏低最明显,达-0.21℃/10 a,模拟夏季的降水量增加趋势偏低最明显,相对误差达-99%。CMIP5模式对中国西北干旱区的模拟效果整体上偏差较大,未来无论从物理过程还是模式算法都需要进一步研究和改进。 相似文献

The floodplain -egetation of the Tarim River in Northwest China is strongly influenced by irrigated agriculture. The abstrac- tion of river water disturbs; the natural dynamics of the floodplain ecosystem. The human impact on the hydrological system by bank dams and the irrigation of cotton plantings have caused adverse changes of the Tarim River and its floodplains, so the current stocks of the typical Tugai vegetation show significant signs of degradation. Field studies of soils and statistical analysis of soil moisture data have shown that the vitality of the Tugai vegetation is primarily determined by its position to the riverbank and the groundwater. There exist complex interactions between soil hydrological conditions and the vitality of the vegetation. But the availability of water is not only influenced by the groundwater level and seasonal flood events. The spatial distribution of stocks at different states of vitality seems also to be decisively influenced by physical soil properties. Our results show that the water supply of plant communities is strongly in- fluenced by the soil texture. Spatial differences of soil moisture and corresponding soil water tensions may be the decisive factors for the zonafion of vegetation. Physical soil properties control the water retention and rising of capillary water from deeper soil layers and the phreatic zone and may supply the root systems of the phreatophytic vegetation with water. Based on the interpretations of three seismic profiles and one wide-angle seismic profile
across the Northwest Sub-basin, South China Sea, stratigraphic sequences, deformation characteristics
and an extension model for this sub-basin have been worked out. Three tectonic-stratigraphic units are
determined. Detailed analyses of extension show that the event occurred mainly during the Paleogene
and resulted in the formation of half-grabens or grabens distributed symmetrically around the spreading
center. Sediments are characterized by chaotic and discontinuous reflectors, indicating clastic sediments.
Farther to the southwest, the sub-basin features mainly continental rifting instead of sea-floor spreading.
The rifting would have been controlled by the shape of the massif and developed just along the northern
edge of the Zhongsha-Xisha Block, rather than joined the Xisha Trough. After 25 Ma, a southward ridge
jump triggered the opening of the Southwest Sub-basin. The NW-directed stress caused by the sea-floor
spreading of the Northwest Sub-basin may have prevented the continuous opening of the sub-basin. After
that the Northwest Sub-basin experienced thermal cooling and exhibited broad subsidence. The deep
crustal structure shown by the velocity model from a wide-angle seismic profile is also symmetrical around the spreading center, which indicates that the Northwest Sub-basin might have opened in a pure
