In the previous part of this work (Cermak, Safanda and Bodri, this volume p.MMM) we have described experimental data and quantified
the heterogeneity features of the microtemperature time series. The spectral analysis and the local growth of the second moment
technique revealed scaling structure of all observed time series generally similar and suggested the presence of two temperature
forming processes. The longer-scale part can be attributed to the heat conduction in compositional and structural heterogeneous
solid rocks, further affected by various local conditions. Short-scale temperature oscillations are produced by the intra-hole
fluid convection due to inherent instability of water column filling the hole. Here we present how the observational evidence
is supported by the results of the computer simulations. The exact modes of intra-hole convection may be different, ranging
from quasi-periodic (“quiescent”) state to close of turbulence. As demonstrated by numerical modeling and referred on laboratory
experiments, at higher Rayleigh numbers the periodic character of oscillation characteristic for “quiescent” regime is superseded
by stochastic features. This so called “oscillatory” convection occurs due to instability within the horizontal boundary layers
between the individual convectional cells. In spite of the fact that the basic convective cell motion is maintained and convection
is characterized by slow motion, the oscillatory intra-hole flow and corresponding temperature patterns exhibit typical features
of turbulence. The idea of boundary layer instability as a source of stochastic temperature fluctuations could explain many
distinct features of borehole temperatures that previously cannot be interpreted. 相似文献

皖东地区中酸性侵入岩为一套石英闪长岩-石英二长闪长岩-花岗闪长岩-二长花岗岩组合,主要属于高钾钙碱性岩系列,具有高Al2O3、Sr、Sr/Y、(La/Yb)N、富集LREE和LILE、亏损HREE和Y、Yb、Eu弱负异常—正异常、岩石高(87Sr/86Sr)i、低εNd(t)等特征。与中国东部多数埃达克质岩石相比,岩石具有较高的Mg#值和相容元素Cr、Ni含量。研究表明:(1)皖东地区中酸性侵入岩可能是拆沉的下地壳基性物质经部分熔融作用及岩浆在上升过程中与地幔橄榄岩相互反应的产物,石榴石作为残留相存在。(2)燕山早期皖东地区存在受特提斯构造域挤压构造控制的地壳加厚过程,早白垩世受太平洋构造域影响的郯庐断裂带大规模左行平移活动是触发下地壳拆沉的主要因素。皖东地区中酸性侵入岩是两大构造体制域发生转换的岩浆岩石记录。 相似文献

区域构造和微构造分析表明,新生代藏东地区构造应力场自印支燕山期的NE-SW向挤压向喜马拉雅山期的NNE-SSW向压扭性转变,表现在:(1)沿昌都地块两侧及古生代一中生代形成的深大断裂带发生了大规模的右旋走滑活动,伴重型较强的碎裂岩化、拉伸线埂和剑鞘褶皱等,沿主断裂两侧叠加一系列NW、NNW及NE向雁行式排列的褶皱和张扭性断裂;(2)在区域上,沿大规模右旋走滑断裂两侧形成一系列雁行式排列的第三系走滑拉分盆地;(3)新生代岩浆活动沿走滑断裂两侧的张扭性次级断裂有规律分布,新生代构造体制的转变造成大规模成矿流体与富集,使新生代成为本区最重要的成矿时期,而北澜沧江,妥坝、温泉断裂带及车所乡断裂带北段是该期矿产最有利的富集部位。 相似文献

Choice of watershed delineation technique is an important source of uncertainty for cryo-hydrologic studies of the Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS), with different methods yielding different watersheds for a common pour point. First, this paper explores this uncertainty for the Akuliarusiarsuup Kuua River Northern Tributary, Western Greenland. Next, a standardized, semi-automated modeling framework for generating land-ice watersheds for GrIS land-terminating ice (henceforth referred to as CryoSheds) using geographic information systems (GIS) hydrologic modeling tools is presented. The framework uses ArcGIS and the ArcPy geoprocessing library to delineate two types of land-ice watersheds, namely those defined by: (1) a hydraulic pressure potential with varying water to ice overburden pressure ratios (k-value), which determines theoretical flow paths from the hydrostatic equation, using surface and bedrock digital elevation models (DEMs) and (2) a surface topography DEM alone. Lastly, a demonstration of the CryoSheds method is presented for seven remotely sensed proglacial pour points along the Aussivigssuit River (AR), Western Greenland, and its largest tributaries. GrIS meltwater runoff from these seven nested land-ice watersheds is estimated using Modele Atmospherique Regional (MAR) v.3.2 and runoff uncertainties due to watershed delineation parameter selection is estimated. 相似文献

Timber production is the purpose for managing plantation forests, and its spatial and quantitative information is critical for advising management strategies. Previous studies have focused on growing stock volume (GSV), which represents the current potential of timber production, yet few studies have investigated historical process-harvested timber. This resulted in a gap in a synthetical ecosystem service assessment of timber production. In this paper, we established a Management Process–based Timber production (MPT) framework to integrate the current GSV and the harvested timber derived from historical logging regimes, trying to synthetically assess timber production for a historical period. In the MPT framework, age-class and current GSV determine the times of historical thinning and the corresponding harvested timber, by using a “space-for-time” substitution. The total timber production can be estimated by the historical harvested timber in each thinning and the current GSV. To test this MPT framework, an empirical study on a larch plantation (LP) with area of 43,946 ha was conducted in North China for a period from 1962 to 2010. Field-based inventory data was integrated with ALOS PALSAR (Advanced Land-Observing Satellite Phased Array L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) and Landsat-8 OLI (Operational Land Imager) data for estimating the age-class and current GSV of LP. The random forest model with PALSAR backscatter intensity channels and OLI bands as input predictive variables yielded an accuracy of 67.9% with a Kappa coefficient of 0.59 for age-class classification. The regression model using PALSAR data produced a root mean square error (RMSE) of 36.5 m3 ha−1. The total timber production of LP was estimated to be 7.27 × 106 m3, with 4.87 × 106 m3 in current GSV and 2.40 × 106 m3 in harvested timber through historical thinning. The historical process-harvested timber accounts to 33.0% of the total timber production, which component has been neglected in the assessments for current status of plantation forests. Synthetically considering the RMSE for predictive GSV and misclassification of age-class, the error in timber production were supposed to range from −55.2 to 56.3 m3 ha−1. The MPT framework can be used to assess timber production of other tree species at a larger spatial scale, providing crucial information for a better understanding of forest ecosystem service. 相似文献

In order to examine the responses of primary productivity in the southern coastal sea of Japan to the Pacific Decadal Oscillation
(PDO) in the 20th century, sedimentary records of diatom productivity (diatom valve fluxes) were reconstructed using core
samples from the Bungo Channel (BC) in southwest Japan. The record of the Thalassionema spp. flux—the best index of fall primary productivity in the BC—indicated a multidecadal-scale duration with a low flux (1943–1982)
and those with a high flux (1913–1943 and 1982–2001); apparent shifts were recognized in 1943 and 1982. The shift in 1982
was also recognized in the flux records of other early summer to fall predominant genera in the BC and, previously, in the
biogenic silica records from a broad region of the southeast BC. This indicates that in our records, this shift reflects a
general trend in the primary production in the southeast BC. A comparison among the Thalassionema spp. flux records, meteorological data from an observatory adjacent to the core site, and the PDO index showed that the flux
records were more similar to the PDO index than the other meteorological records, which suggests that the multidecadal-scale
variability of the BC primary productivity may be associated with some marine-derived forcing. The bottom intrusions of nutrient-rich
water that upwelled from the shelf slope into the BC, the axis movement or the transport of the Kuroshio Current off the BC,
and a basin-scale wind stress in the North Pacific might play an important role in this forcing and mediate between the BC

Evidence supports the hypothesis that two climatic regime shifts in the North Pacific and the Japan/East Sea, have affected the dynamics of the marine ecosystem and fisheries resources from 1960 to 2000. Changes in both mixed layer depth (MLD) and primary production were detected in the Japan/East Sea after 1976. The 1976 regime shift appears to have caused the biomass replacement with changes in catch production of major exploited fisheries resources, including Pacific saury, Pacific sardine and filefish. Both fisheries yield and fish distribution are reflected in these decadal fluctuations. In the 1960s and 1990s, common squid dominated the catches whereas in the 1970s and 1980s, it was replaced by walleye pollock. In the post-1988 regime shift, the distribution of horse mackerel shifted westward and southward and its distributional overlap with common mackerel decreased. The habitat of Pacific sardine also shifted away from mackerel habitats during this period. To evaluate changes in the organization and structure of the ecosystem in the Japan/East Sea, a mass-balanced model, Ecopath, was employed. Based on two mass-balanced models, representing before (1970–75) and after (1978–84) the 1976 regime shift, the weighted mean trophic level of catch increased from 3.09 before to 3.28 after. Total biomass of species groups in the Japan/East Sea ecosystem increased by 15% and total catch production increased by 48% due to the 1976 regime shift. The largest changes occurred at mid-trophic levels, occupied by fishes and cephalopods. The dominant predatory species shifted from cephalopods to walleye pollock due to the 1976 regime shift. It is concluded that the climatic regime shifts caused changes in the structure of the ecosystem and the roles of major species, as well as, large variations in biomass and production of fisheries resources. 相似文献
