ABSTRACTFlood risk management strongly relies on inundation models for river basin zoning in flood-prone and risk-free areas. Floodplain zoning is significantly affected by the diverse and concurrent uncertainties that characterize the modelling chain used for producing inundation maps. In order to quantify the relative impact of the uncertainties linked to a lumped hydrological (rainfall–runoff) model and a FLO-2D hydraulic model, a Monte Carlo procedure is proposed in this work. The hydrological uncertainty is associated with the design rainfall estimation method, while the hydraulic model uncertainty is associated with roughness parameterization. This uncertainty analysis is tested on the case study of the Marta coastal catchment in Italy, by comparing the different frequency, extent and depth of inundation simulations associated with varying rainfall forcing and/or hydraulic model roughness realizations. The results suggest a significant predominance of the hydrological uncertainty with respect to the hydraulic one on the overall uncertainty associated with the simulated inundation maps. 相似文献

La Soufrière of Guadeloupe is a dangerous volcano characterized over the last decade by moderate seismic and fumarolic unrest. In the last 15,000 years it has experienced phreatic and magmatic eruptions and unusually numerous flank collapse events sometimes associated with a magmatic eruption. We propose a new age of 1530 A.D. and a new eruptive scenario for the last magmatic eruption on the basis of a novel statistical analysis of radiocarbon age dates, and new field and geochemical data. This eruption is the only magmatic eruption likely to have occurred in Guadeloupe during the last 1400 years. The eruption mainly involved an andesitic magma which, in the first phase of the eruption, partially mixed with a slightly more differentiated magma stored in a small and shallow magma chamber. Ascent of magma to the surface generated a partial collapse of the hydrothermally altered edifice that increased the magma discharge and led to a sub-plinian phase with scoria fallout and column-collapse pyroclastic flows followed by near-vent pyroclastic scoria fountains. The eruption ended with growth of a lava dome. Our revised interpretation of the last magmatic eruption of La Soufrière constitutes the most likely key to a future magmatic eruption scenario for this volcano which displays strong evidence of unrest since 1992. 相似文献

针对中国东北浅覆盖区地质露头少、填图效率不高、精确度和准确度较低的问题,开发了物化探信息协同辅助技术并应用于地质体类型的识别。在以覆盖层较薄、面积广大、物理风化为主、土壤位移较小为特点的东北森林沼泽浅覆盖区,利用土壤化学成分和航磁信息识别下伏地质体是可行的。基于这一前提,可将指定研究区划分为一定数量的统计单元,在各单元内,通过数学统计方法产生众数、宽度、变化频率、偏度、峰度等航磁特征参数并将其标准化,将化探指标酸度、碱度、钙含量、铝含量、钙镁含量、硅铝含量、镁铁含量、微量元素含量等特征参数标准化;然后采用逐级分类的方法,每级选择有效的物化探特征参数,在当前级别上实现单元划分并将数据分为不同数据集,在下一级别划分时重新有针对地选择参数,分别对各数据集进一步分类,直到分类结果对应较明确的地质填图单元,并最终编制出解译图。以黑龙江省大兴安岭地区某典型森林沼泽浅覆盖区为例进行了方法验证,将结果与已知地质信息比对分析,认为地质体单元识别结果与已知信息基本吻合,使得地质体类型识别更精确,边界更清晰,可为区域地质研究提供新线索。 相似文献

A two-dimensional (2-D) Cellular Automata (CA) dynamic system constituted of cells-charges has been proposed for the simulation
of the earthquake process. The CA model has been calibrated with the use of real data. The calibration incorporates major
seismic characteristics of the area under test. The simulation results are found in good quantitative and qualitative agreement
with the recorded Gutenberg–Richter (GR) scaling relations. The model is enriched with a powerful multi-parameter interface
that enables the user to load real data from different regions. This paper examines the on-chip realisation of the model and
its instrumentation. The CA model hardware implementation is based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) logic. It utilises
an array of 32 × 32 cells. Parameters that construct the local CA rule constitute the input data. The initial seed, which
to some extent corresponds to the seismic features of the area under test, is loaded in a semi-parallel way and the process
is completed in a certain number of time steps. The automatic response of the processor provides the corresponding GR scaling
law of the area under study. The hardware implementation of the CA-based earthquake simulation model is advantageous in terms
of low-cost, high-speed, compactness and portability features. It can operate as a preliminary data-acquisition filter that
accelerates the evaluation of recorded data as far as its origin time, spatial and magnitude completeness and quality are
concerned. Software that performs reliable automatic phase picking, as well as data elaboration, can be assembled next to
the earthquake recording instruments (the whole network) output to assure a quick and reliable iteration of the focal parameters
of a recorded earthquake (epicentre coordinates, focal depth and magnitude). The dedicated processor can be accommodated right
after this stage (before any manual elaboration) focusing on the near real-time development of a reliable qualitative dynamical
seismic record and a mapping of the seismic characteristics of the area. 相似文献
