In this paper, the efficiency of providing elastic‐gap devices (EGDs) to improve the performance of seismic‐isolated bridges (SIBs) in near‐fault (NF) zones is investigated. The device is primarily made of an assembly of circular rubber bearings and steel plates to provide additional elastic stiffness to the SIB upon closure of a gap. The EDG is intended to function at two performance levels under service and maximum considered design level (MCDL) NF earthquakes to reduce isolator displacements while keeping the substructure forces at reasonable levels. A parametric study, involving more than 500 nonlinear time history analyses of realistic and simplified structural models of typical SIBs, is conducted using simulated and actual NF ground motions to investigate the applicability of the proposed solution. It is found that providing EGD is beneficial for reducing the isolator displacements to manageable ranges for SIBs subjected to MCDL NF ground motions regardless of the distance from the fault and characteristics of the isolator. It is also found that providing EGD resulted in an improved performance of the isolators in terms of the reduction of heat generated by the isolators. Further analyses conducted using a realistic structural model of an existing bridge and five NF earthquakes confirmed that EGD may be used to reduce the displacement of the isolators while keeping the substructure base shear forces at reasonable ranges for SIBs located in NF zones. A comparative study of selected bridge damage due to the Wenchuan, Northridge, Loma Prieta and San Fernando earthquakes is described in this paper. Typical ground motion effects considered include large ground fault displacement, liquefaction, landslide, and strong ground shaking. Issues related to falling spans, inadequate detailing for structural ductility and complex bridge configurations are discussed within the context of the recent seismic design codes of China and the US. A significant lesson learned from the Great Wenchuan earthquake, far beyond the opportunities to improve the seismic design provisions for bridges, is articulated.  相似文献

为研究不同设计参数对曲线梁桥地震响应的影响以指导结构抗震设计,对不同支承约束曲线梁桥地震响应及地震需求敏感性进行分析。采用增量动力分析(IDA)方法对比分析了不同支承约束曲线梁桥的结构地震响应变化趋势;采用Tornado图形法对不同结构参数影响程度进行了排序,找出了对结构地震需求影响显著的参数。结果表明:采用板式橡胶支座桥梁因支座易发生滑移而导致上部结构位移较大,但降低了下部结构响应,设置固定墩后,下部结构损伤显著增加;对于采用板式橡胶支座和铅芯橡胶支座的曲线梁桥,墩高及跨径对墩底曲率需求影响较大,而对于固定墩为墩梁固结形式和采用盆式橡胶支座的曲线梁桥,跨径及跨数对墩底曲率需求影响较大;对于采用不同支承约束的曲线梁桥,墩高和曲率半径对桥台位移需求影响较大,仅次于地震动参数PGA。  相似文献

依托某连续梁桥,建立3种不同纵向支撑形式的有限元模型,通过模态分析和动力时程分析,研究不同支撑形式对结构动力性能和抗震性能的影响规律。结果表明:在动力性能方面,与不设置纵向支撑系统相比,设置LU-SC-BRB的桥梁结构各阶振动频率不变,而设置SC-BRB桥梁模型的纵向刚度以及自振频率均有提高。在抗震性能方面:设置LU-SC-BRB的桥梁结构能够对墩底剪力、弯矩峰值以及墩顶纵向位移峰值有较为明显的控制作用;同时,设置LU-SC-BRB支撑与设置SC-BRB支撑的桥梁结构相比抗震性能好,并能避免温差等导致次内力及附加约束。  相似文献

某核电厂为满足建设、运营及特殊情况下的应急需求,拟建应急通道桥,其抗震安全十分重要。本文介绍了考虑桥-桩-地基的三维整体精细化模型的有限元动力时程分析方法,计算桥梁在SL-1(运行安全地震动)和SL-2(极限安全地震动)地震作用下地基典型断面、T梁以及墩柱的动力响应。结果表明该方法能直接处理土的非线性问题以及方便的考虑地基辐射阻尼作用,同时可以精细模拟T梁和盖梁间的支座接触。三维计算采用自主开发的GEODYNA高性能软件平台,计算效率较高。该方法可为核电厂桥梁抗震设计提供参考。  相似文献

以美国西部地区某斜交公路连续刚构桥为研究对象,研究其不等高墩易损性差异以及斜交角的改变对桥墩地震易损性的影响。考虑桥梁结构参数和地震动的不确定性,选取100条地震动,沿纵桥向输入,生成"结构-地震动"样本库,以地震动峰值加速度(PGA)为强度指标(IM),利用OpenSees软件对结构进行非线性时程分析得到桥墩动力响应,而后以桥墩曲率延性比衡量桥梁破坏状态,在确定桥墩损伤指标的基础上,采用可靠度理论得到各桥墩的地震易损性曲线,判断桥墩的损伤模式、损伤特点。在此基础上,改变桥梁斜交角度进行易损性分析,得到斜交角变化对桥墩地震易损性的影响。研究表明:该桥最矮墩发生损伤的概率大于其他桥墩,桥墩最先进入塑性的是墩顶和墩底区域;不同斜交角对桥墩的地震响应影响显著,各墩损伤破坏排序与斜交桥结构构造特点有关,同一排架墩的两侧墩柱易损性呈现与角度变化趋势相反的排列,损伤越严重,趋势越明显;对于此不等高的斜交刚构桥,最矮墩为其抗震薄弱环节,斜交角越大,越应该关注钝角处矮墩的损伤情况,并提高其设计标准,在进行斜交刚构桥抗震设计中应予以重视。  相似文献

为了提升桥梁结构的抗震韧性,提出了一种采用超弹性形状记忆合金(SMA)拉索的摇摆自复位桥墩。首先对单根SMA拉索进行变幅循环拉伸试验,随后以SMA拉索的预张拉应力为试验参数,针对新型桥墩开展缩尺模型试验,详细考察了试件的力学行为与损伤模式,讨论了桥墩的滞回曲线和复位能力;提出了新型桥墩的初步设计建议,并利用OpenSees进行非线性时程分析验证。研究表明:得益于摇摆机制以及SMA拉索良好的可恢复变形性能,桥墩试件在4%滑移率内几乎不产生损伤;与传统梁桥相比,采用SMA拉索桥墩的新型梁桥可有效降低结构残余变形以及桥墩本身的损伤。虽然最大变形有所放大,但仍处在可控范围。  相似文献

The effects of hanger replacement from inclined to vertical configuration on seismic response of long-span suspension bridges are investigated considering multi-support earthquake excitation. The Bosphorus Bridge is investigated due to its recent comprehensive rehabilitation, mainly involving hanger replacement. The finite-fault stochastic simulation method (FINSIM) is utilized for multi-point earthquake time-history generation. The developed finite element (FE) model both for the inclined and vertical hanger arrangement are verified through the structural health monitoring (SHM) data. Based on the comparative analysis, the tension force of vertical hangers is found to be lower than that of inclined hangers, whereas the tension force of the main and back-stay cables remains the same. The compressive axial force of the deck decreases relatively in the case of the vertical hanger arrangement, whereas the cross-sectional forces at the tower base section increase. The approach viaducts are not affected by the vertical hanger arrangement. According to the demand/capacity ratios for damage estimation under the max. earthquake (2475 years return period), structural damage on the tower base section may be expected for both hanger arrangements, while these sections perform well under design scenario earthquake. The expansion joint of the bridge with inclined hangers is also estimated to be damaged; however, this displacement is lower in the case of the vertical hanger arrangement due to the viscous dampers. The findings also reveal that a change in hanger form of a suspension bridge can necessitate other structural retrofit, such as using viscous dampers to limit longitudinal displacements of the deck and retrofitting the bridge towers.  相似文献

In the current study, 108 flume experiments with non-uniform, cohesionless sediments have been done to investigate the local scour process around four pairs of side-by-side bridge piers under both open channel and ice-covered flow conditions. Similar to local scour around bridge piers under open channel conditions and a single bridge pier, it was observed in the experiments that the maximum scour depth always occurred at the upstream face of the pier under ice-covered conditions. Further, the smaller the pier size and the greater the spacing distance between the bridge piers, the weaker the horseshoe vortices around the bridge piers, and, thus, the shallower the scour holes around them. Finally, empirical equations were developed to estimate the maximum scour depth around two side-by-side bridge piers under both open channel and ice-covered flow conditions.  相似文献
