Current research on underwater 3D imaging methods is mainly addressing long range applications like seafloor mapping or surveys of archeological sites and shipwrecks. Recently, there is an increasing need for more accessible and precise close-range 3D acquisition technologies in some application fields like, for example, monitoring the growth of coral reefs or reconstructing underwater archaeological pieces that in most cases cannot be recovered from the seabed. This paper presents the first results of a research project that aims to investigate the possibility of using active optical techniques for the whole-field 3D reconstructions in an underwater environment. In this work we have tested an optical technique, frequently used for in air acquisition, based on the projection of structured lighting patterns acquired by a stereo vision system. We describe the experimental setup used for the underwater tests, which were conducted in a water tank with different turbidity conditions. The tests have evidenced that the quality of 3D reconstruction is acceptable even with high turbidity values, despite the heavy presence of scattering and absorption effects. 相似文献

The field of ocean geochemistry has recently been expanded to include in situ laser Raman spectroscopic measurements in the deep ocean. While this technique has proved to be successful for transparent targets, such as fluids and gases, difficulty exists in using deep submergence vehicle manipulators to position and control the very small laser spot with respect to opaque samples of interest, such as many rocks, minerals, bacterial mats, and seafloor gas hydrates. We have developed, tested, and successfully deployed by remotely operated vehicle (ROV) a precision underwater positioner (PUP) which provides the stability and precision movement required to perform spectroscopic measurements using the Deep Ocean Raman In situ Spectrometer (DORISS) instrument on opaque targets in the deep ocean for geochemical research. The positioner is also adaptable to other sensors, such as electrodes, which require precise control and positioning on the seafloor. PUP is capable of translating the DORISS optical head with a precision of 0.1 mm in three dimensions over a range of at least 15 cm, at depths up to 4000 m, and under the normal range of oceanic conditions (T, P, current velocity). The positioner is controlled, and spectra are obtained, in real time via Ethernet by scientists aboard the surface vessel. This capability has allowed us to acquire high quality Raman spectra of targets such as rocks, shells, and gas hydrates on the seafloor, including the ability to scan the laser spot across a rock surface in sub-millimeter increments to identify the constituent mineral grains. These developments have greatly enhanced the ability to obtain in situ Raman spectra on the seafloor from an enormous range of specimens. 相似文献

针对用天文大气折射测定值,建立随观测站和随方位而异的电磁波折射延迟改正模型的高精度要求,提出了新的仪器误差理论,其主要内容是允许仪器误差存在,并看成是不断变化的,采用相应的测量方法作实时的测定和修正,同时消除仪器的各种变形和误差的影响,排除观测数据中的各种系统误差来源,并达到提高单次测定精度目的;文中还针对不同纬度的观测站、多方位、从天顶直到低空的观测需要,给出了仪器总体结构的安排,和采用视频CCD作为接收器的终端设计方案,也给出了各种仪器误差的测定方法和测量装置的设计要求。 相似文献

Over the years, various forms of phase change materials (PCMs) have been utilized as thermal storage mediums for cooling and heating applications. Recently, the U.S. Navy has investigated using phase change materials inside divers' dry suits to enhance thermal protection in extremely cold water applications. The thermal performance of optional types of insulative Comfortemp1 foam mediums, medium thicknesses, and foam-to-Thermosorb2 ratios are evaluated analytically in this paper to compare the relative thermal performances of PCM-enhanced dry suits with existing commercial dry suits. An analytical model of dry suit systems, both conventional and those containing Comfortemp materials, is developed to predict their thermal performances in simulated ocean environments. This analytical model is used to compare the relative thermal performances of PCM-enhanced dry suits with existing commercial dry suits, and to assess the relative thermal performances of candidate Comfortemp foams, including those interspersed with different weight percentages of micro-encapsulated PCMs, in an effort to maximize thermal storage capabilities. The observations from this modeling effort provides guidelines and recommendations for materials selection and thickness requirements for candidate Comfortemp foams to be used in prototype dry suits for divers. 相似文献
