This paper investigates land-use/cover changes related to river dynamics in northern Ethiopia. Aerial photographs from 1965 to 1986, and SPOT images of 2007 and 2014 were used to extract land units. Land-use/cover changes took place in 48% of the entire landscape around the river across the last five decades. Changes related to swap accounted for 37%, whereas net changes accounted for 11%. The most systematic transitions in terms of gain were from shrubland to farmland, alluvial deposit to settlement, and alluvial deposit to active channel and settlement. Most of these transitions were related to the river dynamics and depict cyclic transitions: farmland → active channel → alluvial deposits → grassland/shrubland → farmland. Human interventions and natural vegetation succession were also very important. The study concludes that river systems have considerable impact on livelihood and need attention in land management undertakings in graben bottoms. 相似文献

断陷盆地陡带区多沉积于湖盆的边界同生断层一侧,具有山高坡陡、近物源、沉积速度快的特点,多发育有冲积扇、近岸水下扇或扇三角洲,在地震相上多表现为楔形杂乱相、 楔形空白相。本文所述内蒙古二连断陷盆地探区的陡带区沉积大量厚度大、延伸长、无分选的粗细混合碎屑物质,造成地震资料存在能量弱、信噪比低、成像差的问题。为有效改善陡带区地震资料品质难以满足地质需求的问题,本文在对大量陡带区地震资料的分析,在充分分析陡带区沉积模式基础上完成了断陷盆地陡带区地球物理建模以及地球物理响应论证。认为大量的粗碎屑物质未经分选、快速沉积是导致断陷盆地陡带区地震采集资料反射能量弱、资料信噪比低、成像困难的直接原因。据此,通过充分的理论论证、模拟以及实际资料验证,推荐断陷盆地陡带区地震资料采集时采用较高的覆盖次数、相对适中的面元、较宽方位和适宜的炮检距。该成果可为类似地区的地震勘探提供参考借鉴。 相似文献

This study is a part of a wider investigation to evaluate how much can be learnt by using low-cost methods such as systematic moderate-resolution remote sensing to map and quantify geological structures at the regional scale on very large volcanic provinces only partly studied in the field. Volcanic-centre and cinder-cone distribution, faults and structural lineaments are mapped combining Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and Landsat satellite images. As an example of the method, we present the interpretation of structural data and morphological features of three contrasted areas from the Cameroon Volcanic Line (Tombel graben, Upper Benue valley, and Ngaoundéré area) for which local field studies are available for comparison. At a local scale, this remote-sensing method of mapping displays good to excellent correlations with previously published data and, by itself, it allows one to constrain the structural setting of each area. Numerical treatment of vent and cinder-cone localisation can be related to tension fractures (T direction), whereas numerical treatment of the lineaments constrains the associated fault system to a single transtensional (strike-slip + extension) Riedel type fracture network. The first results on the Cameroon Volcanic Line are promising and could be used at a larger scale on numerous volcanic provinces for which field data are not yet available. 相似文献

当惹雍错-许如错南北向地堑位于青藏高原冈底斯中部, 由一组南北向高角度正断层与夹其中间的当穹错、当惹雍错、许如错等3个湖泊盆地构成.地堑发育于中新世晚期, 一直活动到全新世.沿着地堑边缘分布中新世碱性火山岩.白榴石响岩的K-Ar年龄为12.6Ma, 其岩石化学特征显示出陆内伸展构造环境.地堑内部发育晚更新世至全新世的湖相沉积物.当惹雍错-许如错地堑是在青藏高原板内构造隆升过程中, 层流加厚的下地壳热垫作用导致上地壳发生伸展作用, 随着青藏高原地壳物质的东流, 南北向伸展作用转向东西向伸展作用, 形成近南北走向的地堑. 相似文献

选取103°~113°E,31°~39°N范围内陕西、山西、河南、湖北、甘肃、宁夏等省(区)共79个地震观测台站1984—1993年的观测资料,对于被4个以上台站所记录到的地震,根据其直达横波与纵波的到时差,采用鲍威尔(Powel)搜索法重新进行了定位,测定了震源深度,共得到2051个可定震中的地震的震源深度数据.作出了渭河断陷及邻近地区现代地震的震中分布图、震源空间分布图、震源深度的平均等值线分布图、震源深度的经向剖面图和纬向剖面图.根据这些资料对震源空间分布规律进行了初步探讨.结果表明,渭河断陷及邻近地区震源的空间分布是不均匀的,与该地区大地构造的差异性及地壳速度结构的非均匀性密切相关. 相似文献

本文利用荷泽-林县-长治剖面西段和郑州-济南剖面南段深地震测深资料,通过一、二维计算与解释,获得了汤阴地堑及邻区的二维速度结构。结果显示:该区地壳上地幔结构在纵、横向上均具明显的差异,地壳厚度变化大局部存在低速块体,对应汤阴地堑为M面隆起,隆起高点M面埋深为31km,向东往浚县隆起区M面逐渐加深32km,向西往太行山前隆起M面为一陡变带,至长治附近M面埋深增至40km。根据华北地区历史地震与深部结 相似文献

Detailed analysis was conducted on large‐scale gravitational‐tectonic deformations and landslides in the Acambay graben, an intra‐arc basin in the trans‐Mexican volcanic belt (TMVB). Field mapping and remote sensing revealed the slope instability of the northern graben boundary induced by the Acambay‐Tixmadejé fault. Two major landslides of 0·1 km3 and 0·05 km3 in volume were identified and their characteristics were analyzed according to the role of tectonics, mechanism of slope failure, and possible triggering factors. Quaternary faulting played a major role in increasing the local relief, and the activity of the Acambay‐Tixmadejé fault represents the main geomorphic factor conditioning the gravitational movements. Moreover, displacements along this fault generated sliding surfaces and reduced the strength of the rock mass. The two landslides are classified as large‐scale rotational slides involving volcanic rocks of late Miocene‐Pleistocene age. Since the Acambay graben is a seismogenic area with a known maximum horizontal ground acceleration of 0·5 g, a strong earthquake could be ascribed as the possible triggering mechanism of the landslides. Our work represents the first analysis of large gravitational slope movements in tectonically active regions in Mexico, a process that can be common in the intra‐arc basins of the TMVB, where active tectonic, seismicity, weak altered volcanic rocks, and heavy rains affect the slope stability.
