The development of vegetation in mountainous and hilly areas depends on the local climate, precipitation, soil texture, parent material, topography, soil erosion, types of land use and human activities. Relative growth of the Miocene pelecypod Glycymeris parilis (Conrad) was examined using allometric equations and principal components. Different parts of the shell showed contrasting growth strategies that were dictated by functional morphology and basic shell geometry. Despite the divergent developmental strategies, 93 percent of the correlation matrix variance is accounted for by overall size increase. The remaining variance mainly represents growth of the teeth, which differed considerably from other variables.  相似文献

A set of optimum parameter α is obtained to evaluate the linear dispersion and shoaling properties in the extended Boussinesq equations of [Madsen and Sorensen, 1992 and Nwogu, 1993], and [Chen and Liu, 1995]. Optimum α values are determined to produce minimal errors in each wave property of phase velocity, group velocity, or shoaling coefficient relative to the analytical one given by the Stokes wave theory. Comparisons are made of the percent errors in phase velocity, group velocity, and shoaling coefficient produced by the Boussinesq equations with a different set of optimum α values. The case with a fixed value of α = −0.4 is also presented in the comparison. The comparisons reveal that the optimum α value tuned for a particular wave property gives in general poor results for other properties. Considering all the properties simultaneously, the fixed value of α = −0.4 may give overall accuracies in phase velocity and shoaling coefficient for all the types of Boussinesq equations selected in this study.  相似文献

Waterjet propulsion system is widely used to thrust high speed marine vessels in excess of 30–35 knots by virtue of high propulsive efficiency, good maneuverability, and less vibration. Since, however, approximately 7–9% of the total power is lost in intake duct due to flow separation, nonuniformity, etc., detail understanding of flow phenomena occurring within intake duct is essential to reduce the power loss. The present work solved 3D incompressible RANS equations on multiblocked grid system of the flush type intake duct of waterjet. The numerical results of surface pressure distributions, velocity vectors, and streamlines were compared with experiments and good agreements were obtained for three jet velocity ratios. Strong suction flow through the inlet was shown and the vortex induced by the separation along the corner of the side wall was clearly shown. Flow separation on the lip was also observed. The location of stagnation point on the lip was well predicted, in accordance with PIV measurement.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple and straightforward method for carrying out the direct numerical solution of the eigenvalue problem associated to the homogeneous linear shallow-water equations expressed using orthogonal curvilinear coordinates, when ‘adiabatic’ boundary conditions apply. These equations, together with the boundary conditions, define a self-adjoint problem in the continuum. The method presented here, which is thought for calculating the 2-D theoretical gravity modes of both natural and artificial basins, relies on a change of basis of the dependent variable vector. This preliminary transformation makes it, in fact, possible to formulate two different numerical approaches which guarantee the self-adjoint property of the discrete form of the system consisting of the governing equations and the boundary conditions. The method is tested using a square and a fully circular domain, both of which allow comparisons with well-known analytical and numerical solutions. Discretizing the physical domain of a fully circular basin by a cylindrical coordinate grid makes it possible to show the actual efficiency of the method in calculating the theoretical gravity modes of basins discretized by a boundary-following coordinate grid which allows laterally variable resolution.  相似文献

The slightly compressible flow formulation is applied to the free-surface, three-dimensional turbulent flow around a Wigley hull. Two turbulence models (large eddy simulation and Baldwin–Lomax) are used and compared. The simulation conditions are the ones for which experimental and numerical results exist. The computational grid is built using an algebraic grid generator with the model fixed in space. The codes use the interface-capturing technique for computing the free-surface displacements and the Beam and Warming scheme for marching in time the numerical model. In this paper, the wet-dry grid point method (WDM) with generalized curvilinear computation grids is introduced with the aim of presenting a kind of effective numerical model for real-time forecasting of storm surge flooding. To realize this general WDM method, generalized 2-D shallow sea dynamic equations in curvilinear co-ordinates are derived, and the contravariant components of the velocity vector are employed for easily realizing boundary conditions and making the wet-dry point judgement criterion more reasonable. As the generalized equations are not limited to a specific co-ordinate transformation, a self-adaptive grid generation method, which optimizes simultaneously grid smoothness, orthogonality and variation in cell volumes, is then proposed to meet the needs of WDM with varying spacing grids. The paper also provides a numerically stable difference scheme and this scheme is proved accurate by the verification calculation of observed storm surge.  相似文献
