Boundary curves for families of planar orbits

For monoparametric familiesf(x,y)=c of planar orbits, created by a planar potentialV(x,y), we introduce the notion of the family boundary curves (FBC). All members of the familyf(x,y)=c are traced in an allowable region of thexy plane, defined by the corresponding FBC, with total energyE=E(c) varying along the family. Family boundary curves are also found for two-parametric familiesf(x,y,b)=c. The relation of equilibrium points and asymptotic orbits, possibly possessed by the potentialV(x,y), to be FBC is studied.     

Stability of the periodic solutions of the restricted three-body problem representing analytic continuations of Keplerian rectilinear periodic motions

The periodic solutions of the restricted three-body problem representing analytic continuations of Keplerian rectilinear periodic motions are well known (Kurcheeva, 1973). Here the stability of these solutions are examined by applying Poncaré's characteristic equation for periodic solutions. It is found that the isoperiodic solutions are stable and all other solutions are unstable.     

Robe's restricted three-body problem revisited

Robe's restricted three-body problem is reanalyzed with a view to incorporate a new assumption, namely that the configuration of the fluid body is that described by an hydrostatic equilibrium figure (Roche's ellipsoid). In the concomitant gravitational field a full treatment of the buoyancy force is given. The pertinent equations of motion are derived, the linear stability of the equilibrium solution is studied and the connection between the effect of the buoyancy forces and a perturbation of the Coriolis force is pointed out.     

量子化学方法研究氯代苯酚类化合物对水生物毒性的构效关系

对20个氯代苯酚类化合物进行了CNDO/2量子化学计算,讨论了化合物电子结构与其对水生物翻车鱼(Bluegill)、花鳉鱼(Guppy)、和虾(Shrimp)半致死量之间的关系,分别获得了表示其构效关系的三个线性方程,它们的显著性均远高于α=0.01水平。结果表明:氯代苯酚化合物苯环上碳原子的兀电荷之和(∑Qπ_R)越大苯环上碳原子的净电荷之和(∑Q_R)越大,或LUMO轨道能(E_(LUMO))越低,均使化合物对Bluegill和Guppy水生物的毒性增大;而化合物苯环上羟基邻位的碳原子的兀电荷布居(P_3)越大,同时HOMO轨道能E_(HOMO)越高,则化合物对Shrimp毒性也越大。据此,可预测氯代苯酚类化合物对上述三种水生物的毒性。     

TEMPORAL TRENDS IN SOIL PRODUCTIVITY EVALUATIONS*

Studies of soil productivity must compensate for the effects of temporal trends in order to examine the pattern of crop yields along spatial gradients. An analysis of the published yield estimates for 30 soils in 233 counties, however, did not find consistent yield increases over the past three decades. On the contrary, the yield estimates for many soils were markedly uniform since 1972. The uniformity appears to have two causes: the acknowledged difficulty of making yield estimates in a time of increasing variability in soil and crop management, both within and between regions, and surveyors' awareness of data stored in a national soils data base. The effect is to cast doubt on soil productivity data reported in county soil surveys published between 1973 and 1988.

PROPAGATION OF 30—60 DAY LOW FREQUENCY OSCILLATIONS AND THEIR INFLUENCE UPON THE SUBTROPICAL WESTERLIES JET STREAM DURING NORTHERN HEMISPHERE WINTER

Based on daily ECMWF gridpoint data of two winters during 1981—1983 including an ENSOyear,propagation of low frequency oscillations(LFO)during Northern Hemisphere winters andtheir influences upon 30—60 day oscillations of the subtropical jet stream are studied with the sta-tistical methods as complex empirical orthogonal function(CEOF)and so on.Results show that inthe winter of a normal year(1981—1982),30—60 day oscillations in the subtropical zone aremainly in the northern and southern flanks of exit region of jet stream.In the ENSO year(1982—1983),they are mainly in the vicinity of entrance and exit regions of jet stream.Intraseasonalchanges of subtropical jet stream manifested themselves as latitudinal fluctuation or longitudinalprogression or regression of about 40 day period.There are marked differences between propagat-ing passages of low frequency modes responsible for changes of subtropical jet stream in the normalyear(1981—1982)and in the ENSO year(1982—1983).Changes of oscillation amplitude showobvious phases.In general,the one in late winter is stronger than that in early winter,strongestone occurs in February.     

Optical Flash of GRB 990123: Constraints on the Physical Parameters of the Reverse Shock

The optical flash accompanying GRB 990123 is believed to be powered by the reverse shock of a thin shell. With the best-fit physical parameters for GRB 990123 and the assumption that the parameters in the optical flash are the same as in the afterglow, we show that: 1) the shell is thick rather than thin, and we have provided the light curve for the thick shell case which coincides with the observation; 2) the theoretical peak flux of the optical flash accounts for only 3×10~-4 of the observed. In order to remove this discrepancy, the physical parameters, the electron energy and magnetic ratios, εe and εB, should be 0.61 and 0.39, which are very different from their values for the late afterglow.

香蕉新品系“93-1”选育初报

从香蕉(Musa AAA)组织培养繁殖后代中,选育出特长果指香蕉新品系“93-1”,主要特点为植株表现中矮秆(216 cm),茎粗中等(67.1 cm),苗期叶色浓绿,叶形椭圆形,叶形比(长/宽)1.91,叶尖急尖,叶基凹陷呈耳垂状;果穗7~12梳,平均8.07梳/穗,穗长81.6 cm,单穗重22.8 kg,单果重213.5 g,果指数123.4条/穗,果指特长(25.8 cm);可溶性固形物含量21.8%;全生育期321d(春植)至368 d(夏植),约44片叶。“93-1”适宜在广东雷州半岛及海南岛栽培种植。
