小型氢原子钟监控系统的研制

该文介绍了目前上海天文台正在研制的小型氢原子钟的监控系统。它可监控氢钟的工作情况，实现氢钟的自动启闭、参数自动检测、自动报警，可控制综合器的频率变化、微波腔温度、氢离子流的大小。     

Is there a black hole among the black-hole candidates?

None of the tentative black-hole identifications has remained without serious difficulties. As a class, the black-hole candidates differ in no obvious property from neutron-star binaries other than in their estimated high mass. We favour an interpretation of the black-hole candidates as binary neutron stars surrounded by a more or less massive accretion disc     

Direct Determination of Galaxy Luminosity Functions in Clusters

We present R-band galaxy luminosity functions (GLFs) from aspectroscopic sample of six nearby rich galaxy clusters. In addition to individual cluster GLFs, extending to, in one case, M _R=–14, we also present composite GLFs for cluster and field galaxies toM _R=–17. All six cluster samples are consistent with the composite GLF, but there is evidence that the GLF of the quiescent population in clusters is not universal. Furthermore, the GLF of quiescent galaxies is significantly steeper in clusters than in the field. The overall GLF in clusters is consistent with that of field galaxies, except for the luminous tip, which is enhanced in clusters versus the field. cDNA cloning and expression of a cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A) gene from the hermaphroditic fish Rivulus marmoratus

We previously described the genomic structure of the cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A) gene from the hermaphroditic fish Rivulus marmoratus [Kim, I.-C., Kim, Y.J., Yoon, Y.-D, Kawamura, S., Lee, Y.-S., Lee, J.-S., 2004a. Cloning of cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A) genes from the hermaphroditic fish Rivulus marmoratus and the Japanese medaka Oryzias latipes. Mar. Environ. Res. 58, 125–129]. To further characterize R. marmoratus CYP1A, we cloned the cDNA sequence of a CYP1A gene from this species and also expressed its recombinant protein in an E. coli system. We exposed R. marmoratus to 4-nonylphenol, and found a small induction of CYP1A mRNA in the treated animals. In this paper, we discuss the characteristics of R. marmoratus CYP1A gene as well as its potential use in a biomonitoring assay.     

EFFECT OF PERPENDICULAR A.C. ELECTRIC FIELD ON THE OBLIQUE WHISTLER MODE INSTABILITY IN THE EARTH’S MAGNETOSPHERE

The elements of dielectric tensor and dispersion relation for obliquely propagating whistler waves with finite in an infinite magnetoplasma are obtained for a kappa distribution in the presence of perpendicular a.c. electric field. Integrals and modified plasma dispersion functions are reduced in power series form. Numerical calculations have been performed to obtain temporal growth rate and real frequencies of the plasma waves for magnetospheric plasma, using linear theory of dispersion relation. The effect and modification introduced by the perpendicular a.c. electric field on the temporal growth rates, real frequencies and resonance condition are discussed for kappa and Maxwellian distributions. Our results and their interpretation are compared with known whistler observations obtained by ground-based techniques and satellite observations.     

国产高分辨率卫星数据在黄河防凌监测中应用

自2002～2003年度首次启用遥感技术监测黄河凌情以来,到目前已连续进行了10个年度。10个年度的生产实践表明:国产高分辨率卫星遥感数据能够有效跟踪黄河凌情的发展过程,实现黄河凌情的日动态监测、重点时段的精细监测和突发凌汛灾害时的实时监测。黄河凌情尤其在封开河阶段,日变化非常显著,中巴资源卫星作为国产高分辨率可见光民用遥感卫星的代表,以其大视场、高空间、高时间分辨率的特点,动态监测凌情,基本做到每天实现一次全覆盖监测的能力,配合其他如中国遥感卫星等高分辨率可见光、雷达数据,初步实现了凌情发展预估、开河前的河道槽蓄水量计算、封开河期间冰凌险情监测以及发生凌汛灾害时灾情信息采集与评估,为黄河防凌调度、决策会商提供了有力的技术支持。
