Developing a SPASE Query Language

The advent of the Virtual Observatory has begun an evolution in the space physics data environment. A number of nascent and discipline specific Virtual Observatories have started to emerge with an emphasis on data search and retrieval. As this new data environment takes shape an emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary communication in attempts to address large scale and global problems. To this end we formulate the development of a query language to facilitate Virtual Observatory to Virtual Observatory communication. Furthermore, we outline the goals of such a language, how it would work and how existing community efforts can be leveraged to speed the development of this query language.

Real Time Analysis and Forecasting of Strata Caving Behaviour during Longwall Operations

Summary. Discontinuous manual observations and irregular caving characteristics of roof rocks often lead to improper decisions resulting in accidents and production loss. Hence, systematic monitoring of the hanging roof behind the chock shields is necessary for safe and productive mining operations. A real-time application was successfully implemented in an Indian mine for forecasting of hanging roof behaviour to enhance safety and productivity. This paper reports the functioning of real-time TWAP (time weighted average pressure) analysis in the forecasting of hanging roof behaviour in real time.     

超级计算机上矩阵乘的并行计算与实现

数值预报系统中经常要用到矩阵乘运算。在分布式超级计算机 (如IBM-SP) 上, 矩阵乘的并行计算需要较多的数据移动, 有效的数据传输对矩阵乘的实现至关重要。该文讨论了两种矩阵乘的并行算法, 一种是基于矩阵的列-行划分方式, 一种是基于矩阵的网格划分方式。在IBM-SP计算机上的实验结果表明, 网格划分的矩阵乘并行算法通讯开销更小, 并行效率更高, 其并行加速比较列-行并行算法改善约10 %。     

无线局域网技术在地震应急指挥中的应用

通过对1987年寻乌地震时应急指挥通信方面的回顾，结合当前无线通信技术在地震现场应急指挥和快速反应过程中的最新应用，阐述了作为通信技术的重要组成部分之一的无线局域网技术的技术标准和特点。及其在地震现场应急指挥工作的作用和应用模式等。     

空间移动信息服务客户端实现

介绍了LBS及其相关技术——定位技术、GIS技术和互联网技术，并从开发平台出发比较了当前的几种LBS解决方案。针对空间信息服务的内容和特点，从系统的关键性技术出发，分析了客户端解决方案的数据模型和功能模型，最后介绍了系统实现的情况。     

地震数据IP传输及存储技术应用

介绍一种IP传输方案。该方案通过地震数据IP传输及存储单元(ITU)、IP流多串口服务器完成，能实现单个台站与多个台网中心的Internet传输、单个台站与多个台网中心的专线传输、地震台网中心之间的Internet连接、远程数据下载及参数设置等多种传输方式，该传输方案具备实时性、可压缩性、多路服务、安全性、数据在线保存、传输费用低、操作简单等特点。     

单片机汉字处理系统

本介绍ＩＢＭ－ＰＣ机汉字点阵的获取及其与ＭＳＣ－５１单片机构成的实时通信功能的实现方法，采用ＩＢＭ－ＰＣ机作为上位机，并通过ＭＳＣ－５１单片机的控制实现１６×１６点阵汉字的显示。     

建筑密集区高倾角三维地震勘探效果

高倾角地区(地层倾角40～70°)一直是三维地震勘探的难题,特别是在地表建筑物极复杂区(占工区的95%)实施三维地震勘探,显得难度更大。本文从观测系统设计、炮点、检波器的特殊布设及特观设计上,论证了其可行性。对高倾角且建筑物密集区的三维地震勘探进行了探索,并取得了可喜的成果。     

At the heart of the cultural approach in geography: Thinking space

The way that space is thought of is at the heart of the cultural approach in geography. The passing down of all the components of a culture depends upon the way data is aquired and processed, the results memorized or broadcast. Communication shapes the experience and the knowledge of space and time. It gives to everyone the idea that the real world is doubled by a beyond which plays a central role in social life, since it is upon such a beyond that normative thinking relies and that a significance is given to individual and social life. The spheres of lived-in and known space and time, as well as that of the beyond, vary according to available technologies.
