The presence of the reversals of the geomagnetic field within the Brunhes is indicated by paleomagnetic stuides on Cenozoic volcanic rocks in the Leizhou Peninsula, loess strata and Quaternary marine sediments in the Pearl River Mouth basin in China. These regional reversals occured at 0.58±0.13 Ma, 0.45 Ma and 0.47—0.48 Ma respectively according to the results of K-Ar isotopic dating and climatostratigraphic and biostratigraphic analyses. The reversals equivalent to the Emperor Event is suggested.The reversals revealed in different regions with various lithologic characters in China prove that the Emperor Event is a global reversal event rather than a geomagnetic excursion, and its confirmation will permit a precise definition of the Middle/Late Pleistocene boundary. 相似文献

近年来通过多道地震、浅剖及海底采样调查在东沙岛西南海域发现了大量喷溢甲烷的泥火山,通过研究泥火山可能会发现含气层,具有重大的油气资源指示意义.一条多道地震剖面显示,在该海域一泥火山MV3附近存在一个具有极性反转的埋藏背斜构造,其振幅绝对值随偏移距增大而增大.为探究该背斜是否含有烃类气体,开展了速度分析、AVO反演和频率吸收衰减分析.结果表明:该极性反转下方存在纵波低速层;该带在截距P及梯度G剖面表现为负值,在P、G交会图中落入第三象限,在横波反射率剖面中表现为正值,在泊松比变化率剖面中表现为高负值;该带高频成分快速衰减,低频成分相对增加.以上多属性特征预示着该带含气,可能与深部甲烷泄露有关. 相似文献

The study presents new paleomagnetic data on the Upper Cretaceous and Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary intervals of the southern Kulunda basin (Alei area), which were obtained from core samples collected from a 305-m-thick section penetrated in two wells. The paleomagnetic sections of each well were compiled and correlated based on the characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM). Paleomagnetic, geological, stratigraphic, and paleontological data were used to compile the Upper Cretaceous and Cretaceous-Paleogene magnetostratigraphic section of the southern Kulunda basin. The magnetostratigraphic section consists of five magnetozones, one normal polarity zone, and four reversed polarity zones spanning the Upper Cretaceous and Lower Paleogene. The lower part of the Gan’kino Horizon, showing normal polarity, forms a single normal polarity magnetozone N. The upper part of the Gan’kino Horizon comprises two reversed polarity magnetozones (R1km and R2mt). The Talitsa and Lyulinvor Formations of Lower Paleogene age correspond to two reversed polarity magnetozones (R1zl and R2i). The compiled Upper Cretaceous and Lower Paleogene magnetostratigraphic section was correlated with the geomagnetic polarity time scale. We briefly describe historical development of the concept of solar dynamo mechanism that generates electric current and magnetic
field by plasma flows inside the solar convection zone. The dynamo is the driver of the cyclically polarity reversing solar
magnetic cycle. The reversal process can easily and visually be understood in terms of magnetic field line stretching and
twisting and folding in three-dimensional space by plasma flows of differential rotation and global convection under influence
of Coriolis force. This process gives rise to formation of a series of huge magnetic flux tubes that propagate along iso-rotation
surfaces inside the convection zone. Each of these flux tubes produces one solar cycle. We discuss general characteristics
of any plasma flows that can generate magnetic field and reverse the polarity of the magnetic field in a rotating body in
the Universe. We also mention a list of problems which are currently being disputed concerning the solar dynamo mechanism
together with observational evidences that are to be constraints as well as verifications of any solar cycle dynamo theories

This paper investigates the Lamb wave imaging method combining time reversal for health monitoring of a metallic plate structure. The temporal focusing effect of the time reversal Lamb waves is investigated theoretically. It demonstrates that the focusing effect is related to the frequency dependency of the time reversal operation. Numerical simulations are conducted to study the time reversal behaviour of Lamb wave modes under broadband and narrowband excitations. The results show that the reconstructed time reversed wave exhibits close similarity to the reversed narrowband tone burst signal validating the theoretical model. To enhance the similarity, the cycle number of the excited signal should be increased. Experiments combining finite element model are then conducted to study the imaging method in the presence of damage like hole in the plate structure. In this work, the time reversal technique is used for the recompression of Lamb wave signals. Damage imaging results with time reversal using broadband and narrowband excitations are compared to those without time reversal. It suggests that the narrowband excitation combined time reversal can locate and determine the size of structural damage more precisely, but the cycle number of the excited signal should be chosen reasonably. 相似文献

The Neogene Western Sulawesi Arc, from the south going northwards, can be divided into three magmatic provinces of K alkaline–shoshonitic (AK-SH), high-K calc-alkaline (KCA), and low-K–normal calc-alkaline (TH-CA) affinity, referred to, respectively, as South, Central and North Sulawesi. The origin of this magmatism in terms of subduction and collision processes is contentious. Four widely spaced Cu–Au porphyry, and one Mo porphyry district(s) occur along the Western Sulawesi Arc, with the North Sulawesi province being the most mineralized. This porphyry mineralization is part of a regional belt that extends north into the Philippines and possibly south to the Sunda Arc. In western Sulawesi, common features that define the porphyry belt are obscure because the porphyry districts cannot be simply related, either in terms of their magmatic affinity, nature of basement, or tectonic setting. Nevertheless, it can be suggested that the generation of porphyry Mo systems requires involvement of continental crust in terms of magma source, while Au-rich porphyry systems are independent of the nature of the crust, and are derived from a mantle source. 相似文献
