In the present paper, the application of the sliding mode control (SMC) scheme is discussed in a systematic manner for controlling the vibration of tall buildings with an Active Tuned Mass Damper (ATMD) installed at the top floor. It is shown that the application of the SMC theory for buildings with ATMD may lead to large responses in the building due to the interaction effect from the ATMD caused by the comparatively large response of the ATMD. Based on the theory of compensators, a method is proposed which eliminates the interaction effect from the ATMD to the building and thus prevents large response in the building. The results are demonstrated through simple numerical examples of building–ATMD system subjected to initial condition loading as well as two different types of external excitations. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

应用并完善了非线性粘滞阻尼器消能结构地震反应预测的反应谱方法,通过与时程分析计算结果对比证明了方法的可行性。利用本方法研究了支撑刚度及阻尼器参数对非线性粘滞阻尼器减振效果的影响。通过数值分析,给出了位移降低率达到最佳时支撑刚度取值的建议式。提出了为保证剪力降低率不大于1时非线性粘滞阻尼器参数的控制方法。  相似文献

Conventional investigations of waves–seabed interaction problems have been only concerned with the soil response due to two-dimensional linear progressive waves over a uniform seabed. However, the effects of non-linear waves which have been reported in the literature may be significantly different. In this paper, a finite element model is developed to investigate the non-linear wave-induced seabed response with variable permeability and shear modulus in a three-dimensional domain. The finite element formulations are fully presented in this paper. The numerical model is verified with the previous investigations through the reduced form of the present solution. The numerical results indicate that the influence of non-linear wave components cannot always be ignored without substantial error. Furthermore, the wave-induced seabed response is affected significantly by variable permeability in coarser seabeds and variable shear modulus in finer seabeds. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The dynamic response due to earthquake-induced excitations of multi-storey buildings simulated by a cantilever (with attached concentrated masses) supported on a flexible foundation, is reconsidered when stiffness non-linearities are included. To this end, a suitable non-linear spring-mass device is placed between the ground and the mass of the foundation, which under certain conditions can absorb a significant amount of seismic energy over a large frequency range, thus drastically reducing the seismic response of the foundation. This is achieved by the stiffness non-linearity that gives rise to a localization phenomenon, according to which motions generated by external disturbances remain passively localized close to the point of seismic excitation instead of ‘spreading’ to the entire structure. This paper proposes a non-linear control law for a variable damping device (VDD) aimed at reducing structural seismic responses. The VDD is attached to the structure by an auxiliary spring element composing a non-linear Maxwell element. The VDD's damping coefficient is adjusted to control the reactive internal force in the non-linear Maxwell element. A large controlled force is thus produced with little external power required to adjust the VDD's damping coefficient. The proposed control law defines the rate or increment of the VDD's damping coefficient at a certain moment by a differential equation or its discretized form. The controlled force vs. deformation relation plots parallelogram-like hysteretic curves, which indicates quick action and energy dissipation. Fundamental characteristics of an SDOF model with the VDD controlled by the proposed law are examined for impulse, sin and seismic excitations. The law for the SDOF model is extended to one for an MDOF model. The control effect for a 3DOF model is examined by numerical experiments. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

An Erratum has been published for this article in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics 2000; 29(7):1076. Two interrelated issues related to the design of non-linear viscous dampers are considered in this paper: structural velocities and equivalent viscous damping. As the effectiveness of non-linear viscous dampers is highly dependent on operating velocities, it is important to have reliable estimates of the true velocity in the device. This should be based on the actual relative structural velocity and not the commonly misused spectral pseudo-velocity. This is because if spectral pseudo-velocities (PSV) are used, they are based on design displacements (Sv=ω0Sd) and are thus fundamentally different from the actual relative structural velocity. This paper examines the difference between these two velocities, and based on an extensive study of historical earthquake motions proposes empirical relations that permit the designer to transform the well-known spectral pseudo-velocity to an actual relative structural velocity for use in design. Non-linear static analysis procedures recommended in current guidelines for the design of structural systems with supplement damping devices are based on converting rate-dependent device properties into equivalent viscous damping properties based on an equivalent energy consumption approach. Owing to the non-linear velocity dependence of supplemental devices, an alternative approach for converting energy dissipation into equivalent viscous damping is advanced in this paper that is based upon power consumption considerations. The concept of a normalized damper capacity (ϵ) is then introduced and a simple design procedure which incorporates power equivalent linear damping based on actual structural velocities is presented. 大坝、隧道等大型工程中的裂隙构造,由于关系到岩体的强度等工程安全问题,因此历来倍受关注。贵州乌江构皮滩电站坝区主要发育碳酸盐岩及少量碎屑岩,在其岩系中构造裂隙主要有NNW向、NWW向、NEE向和NE向,其中约80%已被方解石脉先后分四期充填愈合,大大降低了水的渗透,提高了岩石的强度;有少量裂隙没有被充填,或是充填以后又裂开,其中顺层滑动裂隙具一定的贯通性,工程上值得注意。   相似文献
