Landslides in Emilia-Romagna region (Italy): strategies for hazard assessment and risk management 总被引:1,自引:2,他引:1
In Emilia-Romagna, over 32,000 landslide bodies cover one-fifth of the hilly and mountainous territory. The majority of them
originated as earth-flows after the last glacial maximum and grew during the rainiest periods of the Holocene through the
superimposition of new earth-flows. Reactivation of these large landslides is the main problem the geologists of Emilia-Romagna
are facing now. Intense and/or prolonged precipitation play a major role as triggering factors in reactivating landslide bodies,
but also the importance of snowmelt is suggested by the monthly distribution of landslide events. Almost all the present-day
landslide activity is due to the reactivation of pre-existing landslide bodies. Consequently, territorial planning and geo-thematic
cartography are fundamental tools for the reduction of risk. The Emilia-Romagna geo-thematic cartography (1:10,000) is legally
binding and regulates land use in regional, municipal and basin plans. 相似文献

The karst paleo-sinkhole is a special geological structure widely found in the coal measures of northern China. Some paleo-sinkholes
have high permeability and connectivity, making them excellent connectors between the karst aquifer and the coal seam. Consequently,
during coal extraction disastrous water inrushes take place frequently, which cause severe loss not only in mine submersions
and personnel casualties, but also in environmental quality. Locations and the geological and hydrogeological characteristics
of paleo-sinkholes in northern China are presented. In-situ drilling and excavation results show that paleo-sinkholes have
different hydrogeological behaviors in different regions and in different mines. Based on observed data, mining-induced strata
failure in the seam floor is analyzed. The existence of paleo-sinkholes increases the floor strata failure zone. Numerical
simulation then is adopted to model coal mining with the effects of both the paleo-sinkholes and the water pressure in the
confined aquifer. Analyses of the simulation conclude that the paleo-sinkhole induces the increase in the strata failure and
deformation. These make water inrushes more likely to happen. 相似文献

This study used palaeolimnological approaches to determine how Holocene climatic and environmental changes affected aquatic
assemblages in a subarctic lake. Sediments of the small Lake Njargajavri, in northern Finnish Lapland above the present treeline,
were studied using multi-proxy methods. The palaeolimnological development of the lake was assessed by analyses of chironomids,
Cladocera and diatoms. The lake was formed in the early Holocene and was characterized by prominent erosion and leaching from
poorly developed soils before the establishment of birch forests, resulting in a high pH and trophic state. The lake level
started to lower as early as ca. 10,200 cal. BP. In the resulting shallow basin, rich in aquatic mosses, pH decreased and
a diverse cladoceran and chironomid assemblage developed. It is likely that there was a slight rise in the water level ca.
8000 cal. BP. Later, during the mid-Holocene characterized by low effective moisture detected elsewhere in Fennoscandia, the
lake probably completely dried out; this is manifest as a hiatus in the stratigraphy. The sediment record continues from ca.
5000 cal. BP onwards as the lake formed again due to increased effective moisture. The new lake was characterized by very
low pH. The possible spread of pine to the catchment and the development of heath community may have contributed to the unusually
steep (for northern Fennoscandia) decline in pH via change in soils, together with the natural decrease in leaching of base cations. Furthermore, the change in pH may have been
driven by cooling climate, affecting the balance of dissolved inorganic carbon in the lake. 相似文献

This paper describes the activity of a small meandering stream and the development of its floodplain during the last 4600 years (calendar years BP) in the northern boreal zone of Québec. Three trenches were excavated across the floodplain's full width and permitted the interpretation of morphosedimentary units in relation to modern analogs. Chronological controls within trenches was provided by the dendrochronological and radiocarbon dating of buried tree trunks. From 4600 to 2900 cal. BP and from 1000 to 120 cal. BP, the channel migrated and constructed its floodplain at very slow rates, mostly because of low flow velocities, vegetated streambanks and the cohesive texture of marine sediments reworked by the channel. Vertical accretion rates were extremely variable on the floodplain, with high rates proximal to the modern channel and low rates over distal (also older) portions of the floodplain. Following a major channel shift (meander cut-off or avulsion) around 2900 cal. BP, channel migration appears to have been constrained to a narrow zone adjacent to the modern channel. Within this constrained zone, the migrating channel has reworked its own sediments leading to a marked unconformity between 2900–1000 cal. BP. It is thought that underlying marine sediments protrusions, and perhaps the forested banks, protected older alluvial sediments from being eroded during the last three millenniums. Our study shows that small boreal floodplains may contain, in a very small area, abundant and diversified archives of their evolution. 相似文献

This paper firstly derived urban information from Defense Meteorological Satellite Program/Operational Linescan System (DMSP/OLS) data in 1992, 1996 and 1998 with the support of statistical data, and then developed three basic urban models of polygon-urbanization, line-urbanization and point-urbanization in urban agglomerations from viewpoint of spatial analysis. The conclusions are as follows: (1) Urban patch numbers in the Bohai Rim increased from 1659 to 2053 with an annual average increase number of about 66. Meanwhile, the small urban patches accounted for a larger proportion in the region and the patch density increased fast. In addition, the urban barycenter of the region showed a moving trend toward northwest from 1992 to 1998. Urbanization in the Bohai Rim in the 1990s is fast and obvious. (2) Urbanization in the Bohai Rim can be reflected by three basic processes, i.e., the polygon-urbanization around the big cities, the line-urbanization around the transportation lines and the point-urbanization emerging in large areas. Of them, the polygon-urbanization has been in dominance. It is obviously within an effective range of 3-4 km surrounding the urban patches.
