When groundwater pollution occurs,to come up with an efficient remediation plan,it is particularly important to collect information of contaminant source(location and source strength)and hydraulic conductivity field of the site accurately and quickly.However,the information can not be obtained by direct observation,and can only be derived from limited measurement data.Data assimilation of observations such as head and concentration is often used to estimate parameters of contaminant source.As for hydraulic conductivity field,especially for complex non-Gaussian field,it can be directly estimated by geostatistics method based on limited hard data,while the accuracy is often not high.Better estimation of hydraulic conductivity can be achieved by solving inverse groundwater problem.Therefore,in this study,the multi-point geostatistics method Quick Sampling(QS)is proposed and introduced for the first time and combined with the iterative local updating ensemble smoother(ILUES)to develop a new data assimilation framework QS-ILUES.It helps to solve the contaminant source parameters and non-Gaussian hydraulic conductivity field simultaneously by assimilating hydraulic head and pollutant concentration data.While the pilot points are utilized to reduce the dimension of hydraulic conductivity field,the influence of pilot points’layout and the ensemble size of ILUES algorithm on the inverse simulation results are further explored.  相似文献

由中小尺度对流系统造成短时强降水天气的发生发展十分迅速,对其落区和时效的预报预警一直都是预报业务中的难点。本文基于快速更新同化的中尺度数值预报系统GRAPES-RAFS 0. 1°×0. 1°分辨率逐小时降水预报,首先通过时间滞后集合预报方法构建了多个集合成员,使用平均TS评分值计算相应预报成员权重系数建立预报方程,然后采用频率匹配订正法进行降水量级订正,从而得到集合订正的逐小时降水量预报。2017年8-9月的逐日试验和典型个例预报结果评估表明效果良好。(1)GRAPES-RAFS最新时次的预报场并不完全代表最好的预报效果,通过时间滞后集合订正方法自动识别优选预报成员,显著提高了预报能力;(2)GRAPES-RAFS预报存在降水量级偏弱的系统性误差,经过频率匹配方法订正后,在量级预报上更接近实况;(3)时间滞后集合预报对我国中东部(包括黄淮、江淮、江南地区)的小时降水量订正效果最好;(4)进一步使用的频率匹配订正方法显著提升了逐时降水量的预报效果,其在降水频率更高、强度更大的江南南部、华南、西南地区效果更为显著;(5)对于中小尺度的强降水过程,经过上述方法订正后,显著提高了模式对强降水系统位置、形态及降水量级的预报水平。  相似文献

Assimilation configurations have significant impacts on analysis results and subsequent forecasts. A squall line system that occurred on 23 April 2007 over southern China was used to investigate the impacts of the data assimilation frequency of radar data on analyses and forecasts. A three-dimensional variational system was used to assimilate radial velocity data,and a cloud analysis system was used for reflectivity assimilation with a 2-h assimilation window covering the initial stage of the squall line. Two operators of radar reflectivity for cloud analyses corresponding to single-and double-moment schemes were used. In this study, we examined the sensitivity of assimilation frequency using 10-, 20-, 30-, and 60-min assimilation intervals. The results showed that analysis fields were not consistent with model dynamics and microphysics in general;thus, model states, including dynamic and microphysical variables, required approximately 20 min to reach a new balance after data assimilation in all experiments. Moreover, a 20-min data assimilation interval generally produced better forecasts for both single-and double-moment schemes in terms of equitable threat and bias scores. We conclude that a higher data assimilation frequency can produce a more intense cold pool and rear inflow jets but does not necessarily lead to a better forecast.  相似文献

After decades of research and development, the WSR-88 D(NEXRAD) network in the United States was upgraded with dual-polarization capability, providing polarimetric radar data(PRD) that have the potential to improve weather observations,quantification, forecasting, and warnings. The weather radar networks in China and other countries are also being upgraded with dual-polarization capability. Now, with radar polarimetry technology having matured, and PRD available both nationally and globally, it is important to understand the current status and future challenges and opportunities. The potential impact of PRD has been limited by their oftentimes subjective and empirical use. More importantly, the community has not begun to regularly derive from PRD the state parameters, such as water mixing ratios and number concentrations, used in numerical weather prediction(NWP) models.In this review, we summarize the current status of weather radar polarimetry, discuss the issues and limitations of PRD usage, and explore potential approaches to more efficiently use PRD for quantitative precipitation estimation and forecasting based on statistical retrieval with physical constraints where prior information is used and observation error is included. This approach aligns the observation-based retrievals favored by the radar meteorology community with the model-based analysis of the NWP community. We also examine the challenges and opportunities of polarimetric phased array radar research and development for future weather observation.  相似文献

四维变分同化由于引入预报模式作为一项约束,理论上它的分析场已经具有较好的平衡性,但实施时还会有诸多因重力波导致的高频振荡过程,因此,四维变分同化(4DVar)分析仍需要初始化。文中描述了GRAPES全球四维变分同化系统(GRAPES-4DVar)的新初始化方案的科学设计、公式演绎以及试验结果。GRAPES-4DVar的新初始化方案采用数字滤波方案作为代价函数的一项约束控制重力波引发的不平衡结构,约束强加在分析增量上与极小化迭代过程同步进行。新的初始化方案是变分同化系统的一部分,数字滤波的积分时间与4DVar的同化时间窗一致,不会对4DVar产生额外的计算资源消耗;并能适应长时间窗的同化,不会因为时间窗的延长而削弱慢波过程。新初始化方案中,模式轨迹的光滑程度可在变分同化中通过重力波控制项的权重系数方便控制。GRAPES全球四维变分同化的理想和循环同化批量试验都表明,在四维变分同化中,重力波的控制依然非常重要,具有初始化的GRAPES试验,无论分析还是预报技巧都较无初始化的有明显优势。与以前分析和滤波独立实施的旧初始化方案相比,新方案的分析和预报效果略优,同时有效地节省循环同化系统的运行时间,这对四维变分同化来说非常重要。  相似文献

In this paper,the latest progress,major achievements and future plans of Chinese meteorological satellites and the core data processing techniques are discussed.First,the latest three FengYun(FY)meteorological satellites(FY-2H,FY-3D,and FY-4A)and their primary objectives are introduced Second,the core image navigation techniques and accuracies of the FY meteorological satellites are elaborated,including the latest geostationary(FY-2/4)and polar-orbit(FY-3)satellites.Third,the radiometric calibration techniques and accuracies of reflective solar bands,thermal infrared bands,and passive microwave bands for FY meteorological satellites are discussed.It also illustrates the latest progress of real-time calibration with the onboard calibration system and validation with different methods,including the vicarious China radiance calibration site calibration,pseudo invariant calibration site calibration,deep convective clouds calibration,and lunar calibration.Fourth,recent progress of meteorological satellite data assimilation applications and quantitative science produce are summarized at length.The main progress is in meteorological satellite data assimilation by using microwave and hyper-spectral infrared sensors in global and regional numerical weather prediction models.Lastly,the latest progress in radiative transfer,absorption and scattering calculations for satellite remote sensing is summarized,and some important research using a new radiative transfer model are illustrated.  相似文献

A regional ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) data assimilation (DA) and forecast system was recently established based on the Gridpoint Statistical Interpolation (GSI) analysis system. The EnKF DA system was tested with continuous threehourly updated cycles followed by 18-h deterministic forecasts from every three-hourly ensemble mean analysis. Initial tests showed negative to neutral impacts of assimilating satellite radiance data due to the improper bias correction procedure. In this study, two bias correction schemes within the established EnKF DA system are investigated and the impact of assimilating additional polar-orbiting satellite radiance is also investigated. Two group experiments are conducted. The purpose of the first group is to evaluate the bias correction procedure. Two online bias correction methods based on GSI 3DVar and EnKF algorithms are used to assimilate AMSU-A radiance data. Results show that both variational and EnKF-based bias correction procedures effectively reduce the observation and background radiance differences, achieving positive impacts on forecasts. With proper bias correction, we assimilate full radiance observations including AMSU-A, AMSU-B, AIRS, HIRS3/4, and MHS in the second group. The relative percentage improvements(RPIs) for all forecast variables compared to those without radiance data assimilation are mostly positive, with the RPI of upper-air relative humidity being the largest. Additionally, precipitation forecasts on a downscaled 13-km grid from 40-km EnKF analyses are also improved by radiance assimilation for almost all forecast hours.  相似文献

Since the solution of elliptic partial differential equations continuously depends on the boundary condition, the Euler equation derived from variational method cannot be solved without boundary condition. It is often difficult to provide the exact boundary condition in the practical use of variational method. However, in some application problems such as the remote sensing data assimilation, the values can be easily obtained in the inner region of the domain. In this paper, the boundary condition is tried to be retrieved by using part solutions in the inner area. Firstly, the variational problem of remote sensing data assimilation within a circular area is established. The Klein-Gordon elliptic equation is derived from the Euler method of variational problems with assumed boundary condition. Secondly, a computer-friendly Green function is constructed for the Dirichlet problem of two-dimensional Klein-Gordon equation, with the formal solution according to Green formula. Thirdly, boundary values are retrieved by solving the optimal problem which is constructed according to the best approximation between formal solutions and high-accuracy measurements in the interior of the domain. Finally, the assimilation problem is solved on substituting the retrieved boundary values into the Klein-Gordon equation. It is a type of inverse problem in mathematics. The advantage of this method lies in that it overcomes the inherent instability of the inverse problem of Fredholm integral equation and alleviates the error introduced by artificial boundary condition in data fusion using variational method in the past.  相似文献
