Held of period 20 min. The numerical model of the geoelectric structure is the one devised by Agarwal and Weaver (1989). The
model results indicate the correspondence between the general features of the computed horizontal anomalies and the observed
anomalies both at temporary array stations and at two permanent magnetic observatories (ANN and TRD). On the basis of model
estimates of apparent resistivity and phase it is suggested that a one-dimensional interpretation of the sub-surface conductivity
structure is valid near two of the array stations, whereas at all other coastal and inland stations, two-or three-dimensional

When a steep bottom slope exists, it is well known that conventional methods for calculating horizontal diffusion in sigma-coordinate coastal ocean models causes spurious transport (e.g. salinity, temperature, and sediments) and currents. In this study, a second-order accurate finite-difference algorithm and program have been developed to reduce the spurious numerical diffusion errors. In the proposed algorithm, the finite differencing is performed in the x-z coordinate system to approximate the horizontal gradient. Each variable in the finite differential formation is calculated in the sigma-coordinate grid cells using a second-order Lagrangian interpolation polynomial. In conjunction with a stepwise bottom boundary condition, numerical experiments show that the proposed finite-difference scheme considerably reduces numerical errors compared to conventional approaches when dealing with horizontal diffusion over steep topography, which often occurs in coastal oceans and navigation channels. 相似文献

Linearly Organized Turbulence Structures Observed Over a Suburban Area by Dual-Doppler Lidar 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Dual-Doppler lidar observations are used to investigate the structure and evolution of surface-layer flow over a suburban
area. The observations were made during the Joint Urban 2003 (JU2003) field experiment in Oklahoma City, U.S.A. in the summer
of 2003. This study focuses specifically on a 10-h sequence of scan data beginning shortly after noon local time on 7 July
2003. During this period two coherent Doppler lidars performed overlapping low elevation angle sector scans upwind and south
of Oklahoma City’s central business district. Radial velocity data from the two lidars are processed to reveal the structure
and evolution of the horizontal velocity field in the surface layer throughout the afternoon and during the evening transition
period. The retrieved velocity fields clearly show a tendency for turbulence structures to be elongated in the direction of
the mean flow throughout the entire 10-h study period. In order to quantify the observed anisotropy and its dependence on
stability, integral length scales are estimated directly from the spatially resolved velocity retrievals. As the flow became
more stably stratified the characteristic cross-stream dimension of the linear structures decreased. The streamwise component
was consistently more anisotropic than the cross-stream component, and both velocity components exhibited maximum anisotropy
under neutral conditions. The ratio of the streamwise to cross-stream length scale was estimated to be about eight for the
streamwise component, and four for the cross-stream component under neutral conditions. 相似文献

Structural directions of the southern part of the Adamawa plateau in Cameroon are highlighted by filters applied on the magnetic anomaly map. Determination of the magnitude maxima of (1) the horizontal gradient of the field reduced to the pole, and (2) the analytic signal, allowed a map to be produced showing various lineaments interpreted as the fault system of the studied area. In particular, the faults on the shaded relief map of the horizontal gradient magnitude suggest a slide to the left of the Foumban shear zone in the studied area. Interpretation of the observed anomaly along a profile directed SSE-NNW shows the presence of a magnetized body considered as an intrusion into the granitic basement of probably basaltic volcanic rocks, put in place during the reactivation of the Foumban shear zone. In addition, the observed correlation between the mapped structural directions, the sites of thermo-mineral springs and the hydrographical network shows that the results of this study will be helpful for further hydrogeological research in the studied area. 相似文献

选取热带测雨卫星(Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission,TRMM)微波成像仪(TRMM Microwave Imager,TMI)液态水路径(liquid water path,LWP)轨道像元数据为研究对象,探讨了将瞬时探测以及逐月的像元数据进行格点化(0.1°、0.25°、0.5°、1.0°和2.5°五种格点分辨率)时,格点数据的失真情况。对TMI瞬时探测的个例分析结果表明,细分辨率(0.1°、0.25°和0.5°)格点能保留原始像元数据的细节;而随着网格变粗,细节受到较大的平滑。因此对于中尺度到天气尺度的天气系统分析而言,将卫星轨道数据处理到网格尺度不大于0.5°的格点更合适。对逐月LWP像元资料格点化处理的分析表明,细分辨率格点能保留LWP空间分布细节,尽管5种分辨率下LWP的概率密度分布(probability density function,PDF)均相近。因此,对月尺度及以上的气候分析研究而言,格点尺度大小对卫星像元数据格点化的影响不显著。最后利用本实验室计算的TMI/LWP格点数据与欧洲中期数值预报中心再分析资料(European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts Interim reanalysis,ERA-Interim)和NCEP再分析资料(NCEP Climate Forecast System Reanalysis,NCEP CFSR)进行了对比,发现两种再分析资料都高估了LWP;TMI/LWP格点数据与两种再分析资料LWP的多年变化趋势大致相同。 相似文献

One of the puzzling features of the southern end of the Rhine graben is the Dinkelberg-Tabular Jura block on the eastern shoulder of the graben. It is dissected by a large number of faults, the most notable ones forming a field of narrow little grabens and half-grabens whose bordering faults converge at the level of the Middle Triassic evaporites, which points to décollement at that horizon. The little grabens were traditionally considered to be of Oligocene age, coeval with the main taphrogenesis of the Rhine graben. Two hypotheses were offered for their formation, one ascribing them to extension on the extrados of large basement folds, the other to gravity sliding on paleoslopes. Recent field work uncovered overwhelming evidence for an Eocene age of the little grabens, the time of the initial phase of Rhine graben formation. At that time there were neither large basement folds nor paleoslopes of any significance, and therefore the two hypotheses offered until now do not work. However, the map-view pattern of the field of faults offers a somewhat unusual way out of the dilemma. This pattern is most prominently displayed in the Dinkelberg area north of the Rhine. There a lane of narrow décollement grabens with a mean NNE strike is confined within the NW- striking Dinkelberg graben, which is much wider and rooted in the basement. It is also very shallow, with a subsidence on the order of 100 m. The lane of décollement grabens forms a dextral en-échelon pattern with respect to the Dinkelberg graben, suggesting stretching of the post-evaporite sequence above a basement essentially extended by strike slip. This model, though not as clearly expressed, is also compatible with the data in the rest of the Dinkelberg-Tabular Jura block. It also fits surprisingly well a theoretical model by Withjack and Scheiner (1982) that predicts a dominance of strike-slip in the marginal area of a system consisting of extension superimposed on doming. 相似文献
