Laboratory experiments were used to investigate the influence of simulated cracks and roots on soil water repellency (SWR) dynamics with and without basal drainage impedance in wetting–drying cycles. Observations and measurements were taken following water application equivalent to 9.2‐mm rainfall and then periodically during 80 h of drying. In total, 180 experiments were carried out using 60 samples of three homogeneous, reconstituted soils with different organic matter contents and textures, but of similar initial severity of SWR [18% molarity of an ethanol droplet (MED)]. Water flowing down the cracks and roots left the soil matrix largely dry and water repellent except for vertical zones adjacent to them and a shallow surface layer. A hydrophilic shallow basal layer was produced in experiments where basal drainage was impeded. During drying, changes in SWR were largely confined to the zones that had been wetted. Soil that had remained dry retained the initial severity of SWR, while wetted soil re‐established either the same or slightly lower severity of SWR. In organic‐rich soil, the scale of recovery to pre‐wetting MED levels was much higher, perhaps associated with temporarily raised levels (up to 36% MED) of SWR recorded during drying of these soils. With all three soils, the re‐establishment of the original SWR level was less widespread for surface than subsurface soil and with impeded than unimpeded basal drainage. Key findings are that as follows: (1) with unimpeded basal drainage, the soils remained at pre‐wetting repellency levels except for a wettable thin surface layer and zones close to roots and cracks, (2) basal drainage impedance produced hydrophilic basal and surface layers, (3) thorough wetting delayed a return to water‐repellent conditions on drying, and (4) temporarily enhanced SWR occurred in organic‐rich soils at intermediate moisture levels during drying. Hydrological implications are discussed, and the roles of cracks and roots are placed into context with other influences on preferential flow and SWR under field conditions. The time delay resulting from the servo hydraulic systems can potentially destabilize the real‐time dynamic hybrid testing (RTDHT) systems. In this paper, the discrete‐time root locus technique is adopted to investigate the delay‐dependent stability performance of MDOF RTDHT systems. Stability analysis of an idealized two‐story shear frame with two DOFs is first performed to illustrate the proposed method. The delay‐dependent stability condition is presented for various structural properties, time delay, and integration time steps. Effects of delay compensation methods on stability are also investigated. Then, the proposed method is applied to analyze the delay‐dependent stability of a single shaking table RTDHT system with an 18‐DOF finite element numerical substructure, and corresponding RTDHTs are carried out to verify the theoretical results. Furthermore, the stability behavior of a finite element RTDHT system with two physical substructures, loaded by twin shaking tables, is theoretically and experimentally investigated. All experimental results convincingly demonstrate that the delay‐dependent stability analysis on the basis of the discrete‐time root locus technique is feasible. 采用二维有限元数值模拟的方法研究了岩石圈的对流减薄过程,特别是克拉通岩石圈的对流减薄过程.模型的主要参数包括增厚岩石圈的宽度x、增厚倍数γ、以及与岩石圈组分变化导致的黏性和密度变化密切相关的黏性比(ηc)和浮力数(B)或等效密度变化(Δρtc).数值计算结果显示,地幔对流将逐渐减薄增厚的岩石圈部分,(1)当B=0和ηc=1时,即对一般地幔岩石圈,增厚岩石圈对流减薄的时间可表示为0.0073γ0.70x0.26.将数值结果应用于地球,意味着增厚到300 km的岩石圈,如宽度为300 km,对流移除增厚部分回到初始平衡厚度120 km大约需要225 Ma;如宽度为1500 km,移除增厚部分大约需要342 Ma.(2)当B和ηc较小,克拉通岩石圈对流减薄过程与一般加厚岩石圈的对流减薄过程类似,但减薄时间受克拉通组分浮力和黏性比的影响而显著增长,克拉通岩石圈对流减薄的时间可表示为0.0057ηc0.52Δρtc-0.21γ0.78ηc-0.36x0.04.因而,对300 km厚的克拉通岩石圈,如克拉通岩石圈的密度比周围地幔的密度低0.4%(即B=0.1),宽度1500 km,若克拉通岩石圈黏性因组分影响比普通地幔岩石圈大10倍,其被对流减薄到120 km大约需要1.18 Ga.(3)当B和ηc增大到一定量时(如B≥0.2且ηc>10),克拉通岩石圈被移除的过程将发生变化,由于组分浮力的影响,对流主要不是将克拉通岩石圈带到软流圈地幔中,而主要是将较厚的岩石圈物质向两边推送.在此情况下,克拉通岩石圈能长时间(>3 Ga)保持稳定.  相似文献

Abstract

The water cloud model is used to account for the effect of vegetation water content on radar backscatter data. The model generally comprises two parameters that characterize the vegetated terrain, A and B, and two bare soil parameters, C and D. In the present study, parameters A and B were estimated using a genetic algorithm (GA) optimization technique and compared with estimates obtained by the sequential unconstrained minimization technique (SUMT) from measured backscatter data. The parameter estimation was formulated as a least squares optimization problem by minimizing the deviations between the backscatter coefficients retrieved from the ENVISAT ASAR image and those predicted by the water cloud model. The bias induced by three different objective functions was statistically analysed by generating synthetic backscatter data. It was observed that, when the backscatter coefficient data contain no errors, the objective functions do not induce any bias in the parameter estimation and the true parameters are uniquely identified. However, in the presence of noise, these objective functions induce bias in the parameter estimates. For the cases considered, the objective function based on the sum of squares of normalized deviations with respect to the computed backscatter coefficient resulted in the best possible estimates. A comparison of the GA technique with the SUMT was undertaken in estimating the water cloud model parameters. For the case considered, the GA technique performed better than the SUMT in parameter estimation, where the root mean squared error obtained from the GA was about half of that obtained by the SUMT.

基于Zoeppritz方程对介质密度偏导数所建立的偏导方程的精确解,构造了多角度反演地层介质密度的反演方程,在偏导数求解过程中考虑了介质密度对波速度的影响因素,并由此实现了利用反射系数梯度精确解计算地层密度的多角度联合反演.通过数值算例考察了计算方法,结果显示:反演方法对层状地层模型不论反射波是否存在相干现象均获得了较好的反演结果,反演迭代10次后计算结果的最大相对误差能够收敛到1%之内;随着反演角度的增加地层介质密度反演的精度逐步提高,反演具有自动校正能力,有快的计算速度.本方法克服了传统AVO(Amplitude Versus Offset)基于Zoeppritz方程近似所遇到的困难,不受反演角度大小及反射界面对波反射强弱的限制,为地层介质密度的多角度包括大角度反演提供了一种新的快速有效的计算方法.  相似文献

蓝藻水华暴发前,浮游植物群类结构的变化可通过其指示型色素的浓度变化来反映.为了同时反演叶绿素a、叶绿素b(绿藻门指示型色素)、叶绿素c(硅藻门指示型色素)和藻蓝素(蓝藻门的指示型色素)的浓度,利用偏最小二乘回归构建线性模型,通过2011年太湖实测吸收数据,较为准确地反演了叶绿素a和藻蓝素的浓度;针对无明显优势藻的春季数据集较为准确地反演了叶绿素b和叶绿素c的浓度.相对于经典最小二乘算法,偏最小二乘法在多色素混合的吸收光谱分析上更为有效.通过反演指示性色素浓度来反映藻类的分布,为富营养化湖泊主要藻类时空分布变化的遥感监测提供了一定的理论与技术支持.  相似文献

The effect of plant species on erosion processes may be decisive for long‐term soil protection in degraded ecosystems. The identification of functional effect traits that predict species ability for erosion control would be of great interest for ecological restoration purposes. Flume experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of the root systems of three species having contrasted ecological requirements from eroded marly lands of the French Southern Alps [i.e. Robinia pseudo acacia (tree), Pinus nigra austriaca (tree) and Achnatherum calamagrostis (grass)], on concentrated flow erosion rates. Ten functional traits, describing plant morphological and biomechanical features, were measured on each tested sample. Analyses were performed to identify traits that determine plant root effects on erosion control. Erosion rates were lowest for samples of Robinia pseudo acacia, intermediate in Achnatherum calamagrostis and highest in Pinus nigra austriaca. The three species also differed strongly in their traits. Principal components analysis showed that the erosion‐reducing potential of plant species was negatively correlated to root diameter and positively correlated to the percentage of fine roots. The results highlighted the role of small flexible roots in root reinforcement processes, and suggested the importance of high root surface and higher tensile strength for soil stabilization. By combining flume experiment to plant functional traits measurements, we identified root system features influencing plant species performance for soil protection against concentrated flow erosion. Plant functional traits related to species efficiency for erosion control represent useful tools to improve the diagnosis of land vulnerability to erosion, plant community resistance and the prediction of ecosystem functioning after ecological restoration. We evaluated the importance and contributions of changes in stream base cation concentration, stream discharge and lake shoreline load to changes in base cation concentrations in two small inland lakes in south‐central Ontario. The shoreline load from ungauged drainage areas was calculated with a mass balance equation. An evaluation method based on the partial Mann–Kendall test quantified the relative contributions of these three explanatory drivers to the observed trends in lake concentration of Ca, K, Mg and Na. Over a 29‐year period (1978–2006) at Red Chalk and Harp lakes, declines in stream concentration and discharge were correlated with the declines in lake concentrations of all base cations (except for Na in Harp Lake), with contributions of 21–81% from stream concentration and 12–58% from discharge, whereas the shoreline load had little contribution to observed trends. The observed unusual increase in Na concentration at Harp Lake was correlated with the increase in stream Na concentration and additional load from road salts, with the shoreline load contributing a substantial 37%. These results may be applicable to numerous inland lakes with similar site conditions, including lakes found on the Canadian Shield. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

从理论上论证了借助于同伦方法构造的适定空间边界条件确保有限区域上伴随模式产生的超定边界条件问题得到解决,同时又能维持伴随模式中边界处理的优化特征。从某种意义上讲,伴随模式超定空间边界条件的存在是不可避免的,这是因为数据同化过程必须引进和采用给定的观测资料,而它们在模式空间边界上的定义往往是超定的。我们提出的空间边界条件的算法构架事实上是在数据同化过程中综合运用了张弛滤波、考虑外部强迫的辐射边界条件以及与观测相容的狄里希利边界条件。显然,对于该理论构架所涉及到的具体数值处理方法在中尺度模式中都十分成熟易行。  相似文献
