日本交通体系的特征与经验借鉴

作为发达国家的典型代表,日本在交通体系的规划布局比较完善,已经形成了快速便捷、四通八达的交通体系。结合笔者去日本考察的实际经历,总结了日本在交通路网结构、快速轨道交通的布局、交通换乘、交通工具的人性化设计以及交通规章制度方面的先进经验。并结合中国交通体系建设中存在的问题和不足提出今后需要改进和完善的几个主要方面,为中国的交通体系建设提供经验借鉴。     

我国地理信息技术普及教育现状与对策刍议

地理信息技术教育包括专业教育和普及教育。我国地理信息技术普及教育才开始起步,在教育部2003年颁布的《普通高中地理课程标准》中,首次设置了“地理信息技术应用”教学模块。受诸多条件影响,我国地理信息技术普及教育面临着很多困扰。提高普通高中地理教师地球信息科学的知识水平,建设能够满足中学地理信息技术课程实习的专业实验室,开发中学教学适用的地理信息系统软件,出版一批高质量的教学参考读物,加强地理信息技术普及教育的研究,将推动我国地理信息技术基础教育快速、健康的发展。     

青岛竹岔岛存在古火山口吗?

<正>青岛竹岔岛位于黄海之中,距离最近的陆地约3km(图1a),主要由4个岛屿组成,总面积约0.38 km~2。竹岔岛上以发育有一"古火山口"而远近闻名(图1b),每年都吸引不少游客前来参观,成为了青岛市重要的科普教育基地。     

工程教育专业认证制度在测绘工程专业综合改革中的体现

以工程教育专业认证制度为导向,围绕"培养服务于首都城市规划、建设和管理的创新应用型、零试用期并与国际接轨的高级测绘专业人才"开展了测绘工程专业综合改革的建设,取得了丰硕的改革与建设成果,对测绘工程专业的人才培养和学科建设起到了重要作用,初步实现了人才培养的国际化接轨。     

The communicative competence of Chinese seafarers and their employability in the international maritime labour market

In the past two decades, the seafarer workforce in China has been growing at a much faster pace than that of the Chinese merchant fleet, resulting in an oversupply of seafarers in the domestic market. As one of the major seafarer suppliers in the world, China still faces great challenges to assign Chinese seafarers to the international maritime labour market. Although literature claims that a lack of English communication ability of Chinese seafarers is one of the main barriers for them to compete with seafarers of other nationalities for job opportunities, there is little empirical research to substantiate such claim. To fill this gap, this paper aims to investigate: 1) employers’ views on the current level of Chinese seafarers’ communicative competence; and 2) to what extent their communicative competence correlates with their employability in the international maritime labour market. To achieve the research objectives, a questionnaire survey relating to factors affecting the employability of Chinese seafarers on foreign ships was conducted. Interviews were carried out with employers who had been recruiting seafarers in China. The findings show that English communicative competence is among the top determinants for seafarers to be employed on foreign ships. Most employers believe that there has been a declining trend in the communicative competence of Chinese seafarers over the last decade. Employers interviewed agree that a high priority should be placed on the improvement of quality of maritime English teachers.     

面向海洋信息的特色GIS教学研究

高校GIS教学是近年来国内探讨的热点教学问题之一,但是专门针对海洋信息的GIS教学研究还鲜有文献对其进行探讨。本文分析了海洋GIS的学科及教育特点,并结合海洋信息的特色GIS教学现状,对具有海洋特色的GIS教学内容、教学模式和方法。以及实践环节设置等几个方面进行了探讨。为推进海洋信息的特色GIS课程教育提供了很好的参考。     

当前测绘专业本科教学存在的问题及解决思路

依据当前高校本科培养的现状,分析了目前测绘专业在合堂授课、考试方法、考研问题、教学与科研及毕业设计等方面存在的问题,指出了调动学生学习积极性的重要性,并给出了提高学生学习动力的几点意见,在如何引导学生进行科学研究方面也提出了新的观点。     

Problem-Based Inquiry on World Water Problems in Large Undergraduate Classes

Abstract

This paper reports on the design and implementation of a project-based course—World Water Problems—that was introduced within the framework of introductory undergraduate geography education. The aims of the course were twofold: (1) to cultivate in students a world geographic perspective on water problems; and (2) to conduct an original research project on the search for detailed appraisals, or ex-post evaluations, of completed water projects and programs. The project involved problem-based inquiry and learning through several interrelated tasks including: hypothesis testing, systematic electronic library and database searching, corresponding with water resources experts; and synthesizing of results. Evaluation of the project, and the course more generally, was achieved through a questionnaire administered to the students and a focused in-class discussion. Overall, the students' comments about the course project demonstrate learning in the form of greater knowledge of world geographic regions and water sectors as well as enhancement of database search skills and critical thinking.     

Delmarva Coastal Bays Map Contest for Fourth Graders

Abstract

This map contest is an exercise in geographic education for fourth grade students. It is sponsored by a grassroots, nonprofit environmental organization to raise the awareness and appreciation of students to the special features of their home region. The maps illustrate some aspect of the living resources or history of the region. As a case study of the map contest, this paper describes its design, publicity, appeal to teachers, judging of entries, and role of volunteers. It considers the research on map skills among young students and ways in which the contest supports geographic education.
