Convergence or divergence?: Status and prospects for US climate strategy

The objective of this paper is to assess recent developments and prospects for future changes in United States (US) climate strategy. In doing so, the paper explores some of the key factors that have shaped strategies and policies to date, distinguishing between factors related to institutional and governance structures, linkages between science and policy, energy technology and the role of interest groups. Against this background, the paper attempts to explore future development paths for US climate policy. More specifically, the paper assesses opportunities for policy changes compared to the preferences of the current administration, and the prospects for future linkages between US and international climate change strategies. In brief, the paper argues that substantial changes are unlikely to take place in the near to medium term, leaving open, however, the possibility of wide-ranging changes in domestic politics or major incidents that could facilitate a shift in the perceived need for near-term action.

Data visualization at the US census bureau – an American tradition

Recent developments in data visualization, developer Application Program Interfaces (APIs), and web services reinforce a long American tradition of statistical mapping and innovation at the US Census Bureau. Consistent with other international statistical agencies, the Census Bureau has used contemporary innovations in statistical mapping and data visualization to disseminate national census results for over 14 decades. The US Census Bureau’s data products and analyses have enabled decision makers and the public to access census results quickly and easily. The new information technology environment requires the Census Bureau to more rapidly expedite these results and deliver mapping products to new customers as well as to its traditional data consumers. The Census API has empowered developers and commercial companies to test the limits of a new emerging world of big data solutions. This article presents some of the most recent data visualization products from the Census Bureau, including an expanding Data Visualization Gallery to merge geospatial information and statistics on the map.

社会的发展对网络地图集成提出了更高的要求,技术的进步使得这种要求成为可能。现有的地图集成模式主要有两种。地图服务商提出的集成模式,依赖于自己提供的数据源,且对开放标准的支持较弱;开源社区提出的基于WMS的集成模式,虽然实现了数据源的独立,但过于专业而不适合普通用户使用。为了更好地满足地图集成的要求,本文提出一种屏蔽领域细节的轻量级开放地图服务集成模式,它支持标准的网络地图服务,同时又屏蔽领域细节,不要求使用者具有专业知识,具有良好的适用性。本文实现的原型系统,初步验证了这种模式的可行性。     

社交媒体数据的获取与处理分析研究

带有地理空间信息的社交媒体数据是由众多专业和非专业用户主观发布并通过社交媒体向公众或组织提供的一种开放地理空间数据。为了高效地获取签到数据以及保证签到数据的正确性、可靠性、完整性,满足数据挖掘算法的需要,本文以微博签到数据为例,提出了获取数据的关键技术,包括调用微博API的方法、研究区域格网化的获取方法,提高了数据的获取效率。并且针对获取的原始数据提出了对其处理的方案并对获取的数据结果进行了相关的统计描述。     

智慧广州时空云平台接口即服务的设计与实现

接口即服务是智慧城市时空云平台服务资源池中五大核心服务之一,本文以广州市为例,详细地介绍了云平台中各类服务接口的设计与功能实现,并以历史分析API和感知设备API的接口调用为例,分别实现了广州市土地利用现状图的时空回溯、气象信息在空间地图上的实时展示等功能。
