Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and organochlorines in small cetaceans from Hong Kong waters: levels, profiles and distribution 总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and organochlorine compounds (OCs) were determined in the blubber, liver and kidney of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins (Sousa chinensis) and finless porpoises (Neophocaena phocaenoides) stranded in Hong Kong coastal waters during 1995–2001. Among the organohalogen compounds analyzed, DDTs were the most dominant contaminants with concentrations ranging from 9.9 to 470 μg/g lipid wt. PBDEs in Hong Kong cetaceans, which are reported for the first time, were detected in all the samples with values ranging from 0.23 to 6.0 μg/g lipid wt., with a predominance of BDE-47. Results from this study suggest PBDEs should be classified as priority pollutants in Asia. Higher concentrations were found in humpback dolphins than in finless porpoises, and this was attributed mainly to differences in habitat. Elevated residues of PCBs and DDTs in some cetaceans suggest these species may be at risk. 相似文献

Palaeocurrent data from parts of the Upper Buntsandstein (Lower Triassic) of both the western (Eifel: Kyllburg-Schichten) and eastern (Bavaria: Plattensandstein) margin of the German Triassic Basin (Middle Europe) have been interpreted by circular directional statistics, eigenvalue and eigenvector analysis, autocorrelation analysis and vector trend analysis. Examination of current roses, histograms of normalized vector magnitudes and plots, of circular skewness of the distribution vs. circular kurtosis, together with the palaeocurrent plots indicate bimodal palaeocurrent distributions with bipolar orientations within long, short and very short sedimentary sequences. Subset I of the directional data is interpreted to represent larger, more continuous flows in a high-energy regime of probably perennial type, whereas subset II may represent smaller, partially episodic flows of probably ephemeral type with larger variability in direction and flow regime; transport and sedimentation rates being significantly smaller than during deposition of subset I. A part of the bimodal palaeocurrent distributions within short sedimentary sequences fits rather well into the general transport pattern. Other bipolarities are primarily interpreted as effects of superimposition of channels of different orientations as well as of main channels and crevasse-splay channels, and condensation of deposition from discontinuous or episodic flows. The main mechanism creating the vertical succession of various directions is stacking of different substratum members to multistorey complexes by primary-depositional restriction of formation and/or secondary-erosional removal of topstratum sediments. The occasional occurrence of herring-bone cross-stratification representing bipolarities within very short depositional sequences, testifies to probably episodic and random changes in water surface slopes allowing currents to reverse locally. Examination of long sedimentary sequences by autocorrelation analysis reveals changes of transport directions with time in a sinusoidal manner, indicating a conformable environmental development of the alluvial watercourses which reflects a time-cyclic trend of sedimentation by spatially continuous and time-concordant shifting of the channel system. The results of the statistical analysis enable an enhanced palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of the alluvial network which fits best to a transitional meandering-thalweg-braided channel pattern. Comparison of the statistical results, especially in the light of vector trend surface analysis, clearly reflects the different palaeogeographic positions of both investigated areas, but rules out only minor influences of regionally different palaeoslopes on the alluvial depositional environment, with the basic principles of fluvial style at the western margin (Eifel) generally matching those at the eastern margin (Bavaria) of the German Basin. 相似文献

Theoretical electron density sensitive emission line ratios involving a total of eleven 2s

3 transitions in Sxi between 187 and 292 Å are presented. A comparison of these with solar active region observations obtained during rocket flights by the Solar EUV Rocket Telescope and Spectrograph (SERTS) reveals generally good agreement between theory and experiment. However, the 186.87 Å line is masked by fairly strong Fexii emission at the same wavelength, while 239.83 Å is blended with an unknown feature, and 285.58 Å is blended with possibly Niv 285.56 Å. In addition, the 191.23 Å line appears to be more seriously blended with an Fexiii feature than previously believed. The presence of several new Sxi lines is confirmed in the SERTS spectra, at wavelengths of 188.66, 247.14 and 291.59 Å, in excellent agreement with laboratory measurements. The concentration of Kepone in extruded egg masses and the backfin muscles of the blue crab,Callinectes sapidus, collected from seven stations in the lower James River and lower Chesapeake Bay was determined. Crabs from the lower James River were generally more contaminated than those from the lower Chesapeake Bay. Extruded eggs contain approximately three times more Kepone than backfin muscle. Hydrogen sulphide eruptions with their typical turquoise discolorations at the water surface are a unique phenomenon along the Namibian coastline. The remote sensing techniques of ocean colour sensors and microwave scatterometers were used for the investigation of such events. The studies with ocean colour sensors showed that the turquoise discolorations near the Namibian coast were neither linked to dust deposition into the water column by desert storms nor to the reflection of bright material in shallow water areas. In addition, other coloured marine events like algae blooms and river outflows were differentiable from the hydrogen sulphide eruptions by their special optical properties. Quasi-true colour images and spectral identification methods were utilised to monitor and investigate the spatial and temporal distribution of sulphide events. In the past years, they were sometimes and locally limited discovered. Newest remote sensing observations including our own investigations have established that the occurrence of sulphide events is more frequent and longer lasting. The north-westerly direction of propagation and their velocity between 12 cm s-1 and 15 cm s1 were derived from an event on 14 April 2004. Lastly, the microwave scatterometer remote sensing was applied to investigate the relation of sulphide events to oceanographic conditions. P-V-T data of MgSiO3 orthoenstatite have been measured by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at simultaneous high pressures (in excess of 4.5 GPa) and temperatures (up to 1000 K). The new P-V-T data of the orthoenstatite, together with previous compression data and thermal expansion data, are described by a modified Birch-Murnaghan equation of state for diverse temperatures. The fitted thermoelastic parameters for MgSiO3 orthoenstatite are: thermal expansion ?α/?P with values of a=2.86(29)×10-5 K-1 and b=0.72(16)×10-8 K-2; isothermal bulk modulus K T o =102.8(2) GPa; pressure derivative of bulk modulus K′=?K/?P=10.2(1.2); and temperature derivative of bulk modulus K=?K/?T=-0.037(5) GPa/K. The derived thermal Grüneisen parameter is γ th=1.05 for ambient conditions; Anderson-Grüneisen parameter is δ T o =11.6, and the pressure derivative of thermal expansion is ?α/?P=-3.5×10-6K-1 GPa-1. From the P-V-T data and the thermoelastic equation of state, thermal expansions at two constant pressures of 1.5 GPa and 4.0 GPa are calculated. The resulting pressure dependence of thermal expansion is Δα/ΔP=-3.2(1)× 10-6 K-1 GPa-1. The significantly large values of K′, K, δ T and ?α/?P indicate that compression/expansion of MgSiO3 orthoenstatite is very sensitive to changes of pressure and temperature. 相似文献

Metamorphic textures in medium-grade (~500–550°C) metasedimentary rocks from the Erzgebirge give evidence of prograde rutile crystallization from ilmenite. Newly-crystallized grains occur as rutile-rich polycrystalline aggregates that pseudomorph the shape of the ilmenites. In-situ trace element data (EMP and SIMS) show that rutiles from the higher-grade samples record large scatter in Nb content and have Nb/Ti ratios higher than coexisting ilmenite. This behavior can be predicted using prograde rutile crystallization from ilmenite and indicates that rutiles are reequilibrating their chemistry with remaining ilmenites. On the contrary, rutiles from the lowest grade samples (~480°C) have Nb/Ti ratios that are similar to the ones in ilmenite. Hence, rutiles from these samples did not equilibrate their chemistry with remaining ilmenites. Our data suggest that temperature may be one of the main factors determining whether or not the elements are able to diffuse between the phases and, therefore, reequilibrate. Newly-crystallized rutiles yield temperatures (from ~500 to 630°C, Zr-in-rutile thermometry) that are in agreement with the metamorphic conditions previously determined for the studied rocks. In quartzites from the medium-grade domain (~530°C), inherited detrital rutile grains are detected. They are identified by their distinct chemical composition (high Zr and Nb contents) and textures (single grains surrounded by fine grained ilmenites). Preliminary calculation, based on grain size distribution of rutile in medium-grade metapelites and quartzites that occur in the studied area, show that rutiles derived from quartzites can be anticipated to dominate the detrital rutile population, even if quartzites are a minor component of the exposure. 相似文献
