MnO/FeO ratios in olivine from amoeboid olivine aggregates (AOAs) reflect conditions of nebular condensation and can be used in concert with matrix textures to compare metamorphic conditions in carbonaceous chondrites. LIME (low‐iron, Mn‐enriched) olivine was identified in AOAs from Y‐81020 (CO3.05), Kaba (CV~3.1), and in Y‐86009 (CV3), Y‐86751 (CV3), NWA 1152 (CR/CV3), but was not identified in AOAs from Efremovka (CV3.1–3.4) or Allende (CV>3.6). According to thermodynamic models of nebular condensation, LIME olivine is stable at lower temperatures than Mn‐poor olivine and at low oxygen fugacities (dust enrichment <10× solar). Although this set of samples does not represent a single metamorphic sequence, the higher subtypes tend to have AOA olivine with lower Mn/Fe, suggesting that Mn/Fe decreases during parent body metamorphism. Y‐81020 has the lowest subtype and most forsteritic AOA olivine (Fo>95) in our study, whereas Efremovka AOAs are slightly Fe‐rich (Fo>92). AOA olivines from Kaba are mostly forsteritic, but rare Fe‐rich olivine precipitated from an aqueous fluid. A combination of precipitation of Fe‐rich olivine and diffusion of Fe into primary olivine grains resulted in iron‐rich compositions (Fo97–59) in Allende AOAs. Variations from fine‐grained, nonporous matrix toward higher porosity and coarser lath‐like matrix olivine can be divided into six stages represented by (1) Y‐81020, Efremovka, NWA 1152; (2) Y‐86751 lithology B; (3) Y‐86009; (4) Kaba; (5) Y‐86751 lithology A; (6) Allende. These stages are inferred to represent general degree of metamorphism, although the specific roles of thermally driven grain growth and diffusion versus aqueous dissolution and precipitation remain uncertain.  相似文献

Despite the generalized occurrence of colluvial deposits in the humid tropical areas of southeastern Brazil, regional correlation is difficult because the deposits are discontinuous, and chronological data are very scarce and scattered. For the first time, colluvial deposits in the Bocaina Plateau are described, including 18 radiocarbon ages from 12 profiles. The plateau is located on the eastern flank of the Continental Rift of Southeastern Brazil and is the highest part of the Serra do Mar, with elevations up to 2000 m above sea level. Because the Bocaina Plateau is part of the summit surfaces of southeastern Brazil, it was subjected to specific climatic conditions during the Quaternary. Colluvial deposits on the lower hillslopes and edges of amphitheatres can show complex sequences with up to three intercalated dark humic horizons, corresponding to Late Pleistocene and Holocene phases of morphodynamic activity and pedogenesis. Ages of palaeosols vary from 650±50 a BP to 36 880±980 a BP. Landforms and colluvia on the Bocaina Plateau are very similar to those found on the opposite flank of the continental rift, on the Campos do Jordão Plateau. Ages of buried soils point to similar soil formation and colluviation episodes in the two plateaus. As in Campos do Jordão, the succession of erosive, depositional and pedogenetic processes on the altos campos hillslopes is probably related to late Quaternary climate changes.  相似文献

We investigate the properties of satellite galaxies formed in N -body/SPH simulations of galaxy formation in the ΛCDM cosmology. The simulations include the main physical effects thought to be important in galaxy formation and, in several cases, produce realistic spiral discs. In total, a sample of nine galaxies of luminosity comparable to the Milky Way was obtained. At magnitudes brighter than the resolution limit,   MV =−12  , the luminosity function of the satellite galaxies in the simulations is in excellent agreement with data for the Local Group. The radial number density profile of the model satellites, as well as their gas fractions also match observations very well. In agreement with previous N -body studies, we find that the satellites tend to be distributed in highly flattened configurations whose major axis is aligned with the major axis of the (generally triaxial) dark halo. In two out of three systems with sufficiently large satellite populations, the satellite system is nearly perpendicular to the plane of the galactic disc, a configuration analogous to that observed in the Milk Way. The discs themselves are perpendicular to the minor axis of their host haloes in the inner parts, and the correlation between the orientation of the galaxy and the shape of the halo persists even out to the virial radius. However, in one case the disc's minor axis ends up, at the virial radius, perpendicular to the minor axis of the halo. The angular momenta of the galaxies and their host halo tend to be well aligned.  相似文献

We have obtained spectroscopic observations in coronal emission lines by choosing two lines simultaneously, one [Fe x] 6374 Å and the other [Fe xi] 7892 Å or [Fe xiii] 10747 Å or [Fe xiv] 5303 Å. We found that in 95 per cent of the coronal loops observed in 6374 Å, the FWHM of the emission line increases with height above the limb irrespective of the size, shape and orientation of the loop and that in case of 5303 Å line decreases with height in about 89 per cent of the coronal loops. The FWHM of 7892 Å and 10747 Å emission lines show intermediate behavior. The increase in the FWHM of 6374 Å line with height is the steepest among these four lines. We have also studied the intensity ratio and ratio of FWHM of these lines with respect to those of 6374 Å as a function height above the limb. We found that the intensity ratio of 7892 Å and 10747 Å lines with respect to 6374 Å line increases with height and that of 5303 Å to 6374 Å decreases with height above the limb. This implies that temperature in coronal loops will appear to increase with height in the intensity ratio plots of 7892 Å and 6374 Å; and 10747 Å and 6374 Å whereas it will appear to decrease with height in intensity ratio of 5303 Å to 6374 Å lineversus height plot. These findings are up to a height of about 200 arcsec above the limb. The varying ratios with height indicate that relatively hotter and colder plasma in coronal loops interact with each other. Therefore, the observed increase in FWHM with height above the limb of coronal emission lines associated with plasma at about 1 MK may not be due to increase in non-thermal motions caused by coronal waves but due to interaction with the relatively hotter plasma. These findings also do not support the existing coronal loop models, which predict an increase in temperature of the loop with height above the limb.  相似文献

In order to explain the appearance of a hard X-ray source at the top of a loop, we present a model in which the dynamical effects of the dark filament mass infallng along the loop in association with the “disparition brusque” plays an important role. The crash of the infalling mass produces high temperature regions in the low corona above the two footpoints of the loop, and the up-going shocks, created in the crash and strengthened in propagating upwards along the steep density gradient in the tail of the infalling mass, produce a very high temperature (108 K) region upon colliding with each other near the top of the loop. Successive occurrence of this process in successively higher loops in magnetic arcade may account for the sources of gradual hard X-ray bursts appearing at the top of the loop-like structure.  相似文献

We discuss dust formation in steady state dust driven winds around oxygen-rich AGB stars, including not only homogeneous Al2O3 and silicate grains but also heterogeneous grains consisting of an Al2O3 core and a silicate mantle. In the inner subsonic region, Al2O3 grains with radii of ∼ 0.15 μm condense first, then condensation of silicate on Al2O3 starts slightly inside the sonic point, which accelerates the gas flow into the supersonic region. Also small silicate grains, whose radii are a few tens of ?ngstroms form beyond the sonic point. The carrier of 13 μm feature observed towards oxygen-rich AGB stars is considered to be the core-mantle grains consisting of an α-Al2O3 core and a silicate mantle from the radiation transfer calculations based on the results of dust formation calculations. We studied the soft X-ray solar events that could be associated with the interplanetary magnetic flux ropes observed by the WIND satellite during 1995 through 1998. The timings of the launches of the magnetic flux ropes from the Sun were estimated using flux rope speeds derived by the fitting of a cylindrical model. In the reasonable time window, soft X-ray solar signatures were found in approximately 70% of the flux ropes. Parameters (e.g., axis direction, strength of magnetic field, radius, and helicity) of the magnetic flux ropes obtained by the model fitting were compared with the characteristics of the corresponding soft X-ray events observed by Yohkoh. According to the result of the comparison, the magnetic flux ropes with strong magnetic fields or high speeds were observed in association with higher soft X-ray solar activities.  相似文献

One of the large Sun–Earth connection events in solar cycle 23 occurred between 14 and 16 July 2000. Anomalies occurring on several satellites were reported in association with this event. Statistical study of extreme events is important not only for a view of space weather but for seeking ways to predict such kinds of large events. The Bastille Day event was characterized by a large flux (24 000 p.f.u. at its maximum) of solar energetic protons and a fast average transit speed of approximately 1500 km s−1 of the interplanetary disturbance. A geomagnetic Kp index of more than 9 was observed after an interval of approximately eleven years since 1989. We found that return periods of extreme space weather (e.g., large flares, solar energetic proton events, and large geomagnetic storms) satisfied the Weibull distribution.  相似文献

The resonances that appear in the linear compressible MHD formulation of waves are studied for equilibrium states with flow. The conservation laws and the jump conditions across the resonance point are determined for 1D cylindrical plasmas. For equilibrium states with straight magnetic field lines and flow along the field lines the conserved quantity is the Eulerian perturbation of total pressure. Curvature of the magnetic field lines and/or velocity field lines leads to more complicated conservation laws. Rewritten in terms of the displacement components in the magnetic surfaces parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field lines, the conservation laws simply state that the waves are dominated by the parallel motions for the modified slow resonance and by the perpendicular motions for the modified Alfvén resonance.The conservation laws and the jump conditions are then used for studying surface waves in cylindrical plasmas. These waves are characterized by resonances and have complex eigenfrequencies when the classic true discontinuity is replaced by a nonuniform layer. A thin non-uniform layer is considered here in an attempt to obtain analytical results. An important result related to earlier work by Hollweg et al. (1990) for incompressible planar plasmas is found for equilibrium states with straight magnetic field lines and straight velocity field lines. For these equilibrium states the incompressible and compressible surface waves have the same frequencies at least in the long wavelength limit and there is an exact correspondence with the planar case. As a consequence, the conclusions formulated by Hollweg et al. still hold for the straight cylindrical case. The effects of curvature are subsequently considered.  相似文献

The three-dimensional shape of coronal magnetic loops is restored from extreme ultraviolet (XUV) images of the Sun (Skylab mission 3, 1973) by using the perspective effect due to the solar rotation. An original method is developed which only depends on the assumption that the magnetic structures under consideration are (at least geometrically) stable within the time interval used for restoration. Large scale loops interconnecting different active regions are studied by applying this method. They are found to lie approximately in planes inclined from the local vertical. Generally these loops are asymmetric, i.e. their apices are shifted toward one of the footpoints. This tendency is also confirmed by the computation of coronal magnetic fields based on the photospheric magnetic data.On leave from Observatoire de Paris-Meudon, 91190 Meudon, France.  相似文献
