Quantifying the removal of co‐seismic landslide material after a large‐magnitude earthquake is central to our understanding of geomorphic recovery from seismic events and the topographic evolution of tectonically active mountain ranges. In order to gain more insight into the fluvial erosion response to co‐seismic landslides, we focus on the sediment fluxes of rivers flowing through the rupture zone of the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake in the Longmen Shan of the eastern Tibetan Plateau. Over the post‐seismic period of 2008–2013, we annually collected river sediment samples (0.25–1 mm) at 19 locations and measured the concentration of cosmogenic 10Be in quartz. When compared with published pre‐earthquake data, the 10Be concentrations declined dramatically after the earthquake at all sampling sites, but with significant spatial differences in the amplitude of this decrease, and were starting to increase toward pre‐earthquake level in several basins over the 5‐year survey. Our analysis shows that the amplitude of 10Be decrease is controlled by the amount of landslides directly connected to the river network. Calculations based on 10Be mixing budgets indicate that the sediment flux of the 0.25–1 mm size fraction increased up to sixfold following the Wenchuan earthquake. Our results also suggest that fluvial erosion became supply limited shortly after the earthquake, and predict that it could take a few years to several decades for fluvial sediment fluxes to go back to pre‐earthquake characteristics, depending on catchment properties. We also estimate that it will take at least decades and possibly up to thousands of years to remove the co‐seismic landslide materials from the catchments in the Longmen Shan. 喜马拉雅和相邻的西藏高原,构成了地球上最大的高原和异常厚地壳的地区,是作为印度板块和亚洲板块新生代碰撞的结果,并被认作是典型的陆-陆碰撞[1.2.3.]地带。在此,我们报道了用深地震反射剖面方法进行本区地壳成像的第一个结果,试验的100km长剖面,布置在特提斯喜马拉雅(TethyanHimalaya)最南端,且跨过了喜马拉雅山脊,接近高喜马拉雅(HighHimalaya)地带,剖面显示了在地壳中部有一强反射带。它可能代表了一个活动的道冲断裂,印度板块是沿此断裂俯冲到藏南之下;上地壳反射使人们联想到上地壳存在着大规模的叠瓦状结构;莫霍反射来自本区双倍正常地壳厚度的巨厚地壳的底部。这些结果对西藏南端地壳增厚,是由于印度大陆地壳整体俯冲到包括特提斯喜马拉雅地区地壳之下的观点,给予了实质性的支持。 相似文献

Five certain impact craters and 44 additional nearly certain and probable ones have been identified on the 22% of Titan’s surface imaged by Cassini’s high-resolution radar through December 2007. The certain craters have morphologies similar to impact craters on rocky planets, as well as two with radar bright, jagged rims. The less certain craters often appear to be eroded versions of the certain ones. Titan’s craters are modified by a variety of processes including fluvial erosion, mass wasting, burial by dunes and submergence in seas, but there is no compelling evidence of isostatic adjustments as on other icy moons, nor draping by thick atmospheric deposits. The paucity of craters implies that Titan’s surface is quite young, but the modeled age depends on which published crater production rate is assumed. Using the model of Artemieva and Lunine (2005) suggests that craters with diameters smaller than about 35 km are younger than 200 million years old, and larger craters are older. Craters are not distributed uniformly; Xanadu has a crater density 2-9 times greater than the rest of Titan, and the density on equatorial dune areas is much lower than average. There is a small excess of craters on the leading hemisphere, and craters are deficient in the north polar region compared to the rest of the world. The youthful age of Titan overall, and the various erosional states of its likely impact craters, demonstrate that dynamic processes have destroyed most of the early history of the moon, and that multiple processes continue to strongly modify its surface. The existence of 24 possible impact craters with diameters less than 20 km appears consistent with the Ivanov, Basilevsky and Neukum (1997) model of the effectiveness of Titan’s atmosphere in destroying most but not all small projectiles. 相似文献

We present new results from the mapping of lunar photometric function parameters using images acquired by the spacecraft SMART-1 (European Space Agency). The source data for selected lunar areas imaged by the AMIE camera of SMART-1 and the data processing are described. We interpret the behavior of photometric function in terms of lunar regolith properties. Our study reveals photometric anomalies on both small (sub-kilometer) and large (tens of kilometers) scales. We found the regolith mesoscale roughness of lunar swirls to be similar in Mare Marginis, Mare Ingenii, and the surrounding terrains. Unique photometric properties related to peculiarities of the millimeter-scale regolith structure for the Reiner Gamma swirl are confirmed. We identified several impact craters of subkilometer sizes as the source of photometric anomalies created by an increase in mesoscale roughness within the proximal crater ejecta zones. The extended ray systems reveal differences in the photometric properties between proximal and distant ejecta blankets. Basaltic lava flows within Mare Imbrium and Oceanus Procellarum indicate higher regolith porosity for the redder soils due to differences in the chemical composition of lavas. 相似文献

选用滇黔桂地区东经103°~110°,北纬22°~26°,面积约20万km2,34幅1∶20万水系沉积物统计结果资料,全面系统地探讨本区及其邻近区域地层地球化学特征及其与成矿的关系。结果表明:(1)与华南地区相比,本区存在Sb、As、Au、Hg等低温元素矿集区的地球化学块体,金具有深源性,而砷、锑、汞则是区域性的高背景,本区金与砷、锑、汞的相伴,既有必然性,又有偶然性;(2)与基性岩浆活动有关的亲基性场元素、氧化物、矿化剂高背景的形成,是本区右江裂谷带、富宁—关岭南北向断裂带、文山—富宁逆冲推覆构造带,特别是峨眉地幔柱所产生的基性岩浆喷溢及火山碎屑浊流沉积的客观地球化学反映;(3)黔西南地区二叠纪峨眉山玄武岩喷发导致二叠系和三叠系金及大量亲基性场元素的突变,右江裂谷活动至少始于寒武纪,随着时间的推移,由桂西往黔西南逐渐裂开;(4)滇黔桂"金三角"地区卡林型金矿的物源与裂谷、特提斯和区域性深大断裂和峨眉地幔柱长期活动相伴的基性火成岩及火山碎屑浊流沉积有关。 相似文献
