Results from investigating the geosystems of Cisbaikalia in its western and eastern parts (Primorskii Range and Barguzin Range, respectively) are presented. For studying three macroslopes of these mountain ranges (having an easterly aspect for the Primorskii Range and a westerly and south-easterly aspect for the Barguzin Range), the regional background and the main factors of the landscape differentiation of the study areas were analyzed. Structural features of topological geosystems are revealed, and large-scale maps of key areas are compiled (at a scale of 1:50 000). Maps of the landscape-typological structure were created on the basis of the structural-dynamic and facies analysis of landscapes. It is established that the main factors influencing the landscape diversity are the aspect and steepness of the slopes, the composition and structure of rocks, the absolute height, the amount of atmospheric precipitation, and anthropogenic impacts. It is determined that the influence of the lithomorphic factor is widespread throughout the study areas, the hydromorphic factor is also important, the cryomorphic factor occurs additionally in the goletz zone, and the xeromorphic factor is only observed on the Baikal Range and on the coastal plain in some areas of Priolkhonie. Seismically active lineaments of Kerala State were identified by correlating the lineaments mapped using IRS LISS-I data with the earthquake occurrences. There are 31 earthquake incidences in Kerala since 1821, out of which 22 are falling on/close to 9 major lineaments/faults (length more than 20 km) indicating the possible correlation between lineaments/faults and earthquakes. It was observed that the earthquake occurrences are mostly associated with the NNW-SSE to NW-SE trending lineaments (6 out of 9 lineaments), which are considered to be formed sympathetic to the West Coast Fault. Hence, there is a need to monitor these seismically active lineaments using advanced techniques such as GPS, SAR Interferometry etc. for better understanding of the influence of these lineaments on the seismic activities of Kerala. 相似文献

We have compared the frequency distribution of the dynamical observedquantity log (V
z

p), for a sample of 46 pairs of elliptical galaxies, to the distribution of this quantity obtained from numerical simulations
of pairs of galaxies. From such an analysis, where we have considered the structure of the galaxies and its influence in the
orbital evolution of the system, we have obtained the characteristic mass and the mass-luminosity ratio for the sample. Our
results show that the hypothesis of point-mass in elliptical orbits is, for this sample, an approximation as good as the model
that takes into account the structure of the galaxies. The statistical method used here gives an estimate of a more reliable
mass, it minimizes the contamination of spurious pairs and it considers adequately the contribution of the physical pairs.
We have obtained a characteristic mass to the 46 elliptical pairs of 1.68 × 1012 ± 7.01 ×1011 M⊙ with M/L = 17.6 ± 7.3 (H
0 = 60 km s-1Mpc-1).

The Dead Sea fault (DSF) is one of the most active plate boundaries in the world. Understanding the Quaternary history and sediments of the DSF requires investigation into the Neogene development of this plate boundary. DSF lateral motion preceded significant extension and rift morphology by ~ 10 Ma. Sediments of the Sedom Formation, dated here between 5.0 ± 0.5 Ma and 6.2− 2.1+ inf Ma, yielded extremely low 10Be concentrations and 26Al is absent. These reflect the antiquity of the sediments, deposited in the Sedom Lagoon, which evolved in a subdued landscape and was connected to the Mediterranean Sea. The base of the overlying Amora Formation, deposited in the terminal Amora Lake which developed under increasing relief that promoted escarpment incision, was dated at 3.3− 0.8+ 0.9 Ma. Burial ages of fluvial sediments within caves (3.4 ± 0.2 Ma and 3.6 ± 0.4 Ma) represent the timing of initial incision. Initial DSF topography coincides with the earliest Red Sea MORB's and the East Anatolian fault initiation. These suggest a change in the relative Arabian–African plate motion. This change introduced the rifting component to the DSF followed by a significant subsidence, margin uplift, and a reorganization of relief and drainage pattern in the region resulting in the topographic framework observed today. 相似文献

Retrospective understanding of the magnitude and pace of urban expansion is necessary for effective growth management in metropolitan regions. The objective of this paper is to quantify the spatial–temporal patterns of urban expansion in the Greater Kumasi Sub-Region (GKSR)—a functional region comprising eight administrative districts in Ghana, West Africa. The analysis is based on Landsat remote sensing images from 1986, 2001 and 2014 which were classified using supervised maximum likelihood algorithm in ERDAS IMAGINE. We computed three complementary growth indexes namely; Average Annual Urban Expansion Rate, Urban Expansion Intensity Index (UEII) and Urban Expansion Differentiation Index to estimate the amount and intensity of expansion over the 28-year period. Overall, urban expansion in the GKSR has been occurring at an average annual rate of 5.6 %. Consequently, the sub-region’s built-up land increased by 313 km2 from 88 km2 in 1986 to 400 km2 in 2014. The analysis further show that about 72 % of the total built-up land increase occurred in the last 13 years alone, with UEII value of 0.605 indicating a moderate intensity of urban expansion. Moreover, the metropolitan-core of the sub-region, being the focal point of urban development and the historical origins of expansion, accounted for more than half of the total built-up land increase over the 28-year period. Over the last decade and half however, urban expansion has spilled into the neighbouring peripheral districts, with the highest intensity and fastest rate of expansion occurring in districts located north and north east of the sub-regional core. We recommend a comprehensive regional growth management strategy grounded in effective strategic partnerships among the respective administrative districts to curb unsustainable urban expansion. 相似文献

This paper reports the results of the experimental determination of the coefficient of sorption of rare-earth elements and yttrium (REY) under conditions of acidic pH using several strains of heterotrophic bacteria (Microbacterium sp., Curtobacterium sp., Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas putida, and Bacillus pumilis) that are widespread in natural and technogenic waters of the Far East (Russia). Insignificant fractionation between heavy and light rare-earth elements, negative cerium and dysprosium anomalies, and a positive europium anomaly were revealed. The selectivity of REY biosorption by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as inertia of the biosorption process under more acidic conditions of the medium, were shown. 相似文献

By subsidence analysis on eighteen surface sections and 6 wells, which cover large part of the Iberian Basin (E Spain) and which are marked by high-resolution stratigraphy of the Permian, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous, we quantify the complex Permian and Mesozoic tectonic subsidence history of the basin. Backstripping analysis of the available high resolution and high surface density of the database allows to quantify spatial and temporal patterns of tectonically driven subsidence to a much higher degree than previous studies. The sections and wells have also been forward modelled with a new ‘automated' modelling technique, with unlimited number of stretching phases, in order to quantify variations in timing and magnitude of rifting. It is demonstrated that the tectonic subsidence history in the Iberian Basin is characterized by pulsating periods of stretching intermitted by periods of relative tectonic quiescence and thermal subsidence. The number of stretching phases appears to be much larger than found by earlier studies, showing a close match with stretching phases found in other parts of the Iberian Peninsula and allowing a clear correlation with discrete phases in the opening of the Tethys and Atlantic. 相似文献

Based on the systematic investigation of the geochemical and isotopic (Sr and Nd) characteristics of basic rocks from various
volcanic areas of the Devonian Altai-Sayan rift system, the compositions of mantle magma sources were characterized, and the
geodynamic scenarios of their entrainment into rifting processes were reconstructed. It was found that the titanium-rich basic
rocks (2.5 < TiO2 < 4.2 wt %) of this region are enriched in lithophile trace elements, including the rare earth elements, compared with N-MORB
and are similar in composition to intraplate subalkali basalts of the OIB type. In contrast, moderate-titanium basic rocks
(1.1 < TiO2 < 2.5 wt %) are mainly depleted in the highly charged incompatible elements Th, U, Nb, and Ta (La/Yb = 1.2−2.2) and, to a
lesser extent, in Zr, Hf, and LREE ((La/Yb)N < 7), but are enriched in Ba. With respect to these characteristics, the moderate-titanium basites are similar to rocks formed
in subduction environments. The geochemical parameters of the basites are strongly variable, which probably reflects the heterogeneity
of the mantle sources that contributed to the formation of the rift system. In particular, the most notable variations in
rock composition related to an increase in the contribution of an OIB-type source to magma composition were observed in the
eastern direction, i.e., inland from the paleocontinent margin. The isotopic composition of the basites is relatively stable
within individual rift zones and significantly variable at a comparison of rocks from different zones of the region. Based
on the isotopic characteristics of the rocks, three melt sources were identified. One of them is chemically similar to the
PREMA and is a common component in all observed trends of isotopic variations, irrespective of the position of the particular
assemblage in the structure of the region. This component dominates the composition of the titaniumrich basalts with geochemical
signatures of the derivatives of enriched mantle reservoirs of the E-MORB and OIB types and is considered as a plume source.
Two other isotopic melt sources are related to subduction processes, which is indicated by their dominance during the formation
of the moderate-titanium basalts showing the geochemical signatures (primarily, Ta-Nb depletion) of typical volcanic-arc rocks.
These differences are consistent with the formation of the Altai-Sayan rift system in a complex geodynamic setting, which
developed under the influence of intraplate magma sources (mantle plume) on the region of melt generation in an active continental
