Properties of a latitude zonal component of the large-scale solar magnetic field are analyzed on the basis of H charts for 1905–1982. Poleward migration of prominences is used to determine the time of reversal of the polar magnetic field for 1870–1905. It is shown that in each hemisphere the polar, middle latitude and equatorial zones of the predominant polarity of large-scale magnetic field can be detected by calculating the average latitude of prominence samples referred to one boundary of the large-scale magnetic field. The cases of a single and three-fold polar magnetic field reversal are investigated. It is shown that prominence samples referred to one boundary of the large-scale magnetic field do not have any regular equatorward drift. They manifest a poleward migration with a variable velocity up to 30 m s-1 depending on the phase of the cycle. The direction of migration is the same for both low-latitude and high-latitude zones. Two different time intervals of poleward migration are found. One lasts from the beginning of the cycle to the time of polar magnetic field reversal and the other lasts from the time of reversal to the time of minimum activity. The velocity of poleward migration of prominences during the first period is from 5 m s-1 to 30 m s-1 and the second period is devoid of regular latitude drift.  相似文献

Time sequences of simultaneous spectra of limb spicules, obtained using the Sacramento Peak Observatory's tower telescope and echelle spectrograph are analyzed. Intensity determinations of H and K, H, 8498 and 8542 of calcium are tabulated for three observing heights. Electron densities averaged over the entire visible lifetimes of spicules are -6 × 1010 cm–3 at observing heights of 6000km, while maximum and minimum values were -1.1 × 1011 cm–3 at 6000km and - 2 × 1010 cm–3 at 10000km. Electron temperatures range between 12 000 K and 16 000 K. Profile halfwidths indicate turbulent velocities of 12 to 22 km s–1, and spectral tilts are interpreted as caused by differential velocity fields of -3 km s–1 per 1000 km. No large scale spicule expansions or contractions are observed, although possible expulsions or accretions of material are observed. The shielding effect of plasma on the electrostatic potential due to a central nucleus is studied. The potential is determined by the Poisson equation with Boltzmann factor for the charge density of ions. The aim of this work is to find approximated analytical solutions, without the usual linearization hypothesis, by means of the technique of quasifractional approximants in two points. In a previous work (Martín and Pérez, 1994) a quasifractional fractional approximation was obtained, but the coefficients were found by means of the numerical solution of the differential equation. Now we find a complete analytical expression. The approximant found is highly precise in the range of validity of the physical model used.  相似文献

Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(D-In SAR) has been widely used to measure surface deformation over the Tibetan Plateau. However, the accuracy and applicability of the D-In SAR method are not well estimated due to the lack of in-situ validation. In this paper, we mapped the seasonal and long-term displacement of Tanggula(TGL) and Liangdaohe(LDH) permafrost regions with a stack of Sentinel-1 acquisitions using the Small Baseline Subset In SAR(SBAS-In SAR) method. In the TGL region, with its dry soils and sparse vegetation, the In SAR-derived surface-deformation trend was consistent with ground-based leveling results; long-term changes of the active layer showed a settlement rate of around 1 to 3 mm/a due to the melting of ground ice, indicating a degrading permafrost in this area. Around half of the deformation was picked up on monitoring, in contrast with in-situ measurements in LDH, implying that the D-In SAR method remarkably underestimated the surface-deformation. This phenomenon may be induced by the large soil-water content, high vegetation coverage, or a combination of these two factors in this region. This study demonstrates that surface deformation could be mapped accurately for a specific region with Sentinel-1 C-band data, such as in the TGL region.Moreover, although the D-In SAR technology provides an efficient solution for broad surface-deformation monitoring in permafrost regions, it shows a poor performance in the region with high soil-water content and dense vegetation coverage.  相似文献

Summary. Relative motion across a boundary between the main Juan de Fuca plate and its northern extension, the Explorer plate, had earlier been suggested from sea-floor magnetic anomaly analysis and from earthquakes recorded on the western Canada land seismic network. The location of the boundary, called the Nootka fault zone, and the motion across it have been examined through seismic reflection profiles, accurate location of earthquakes with an array of ocean bottom seismometers and through analysis of magnetic, gravity and bathymetric data. The fault zone extends from a ridge-fault—fault triple point at the northern end of the Juan de Fuca ridge to a fault—trench—trench triple junction at the margin off north-central Vancouver Island. The active portion of the fault zone is about 20 km wide, and has produced extensive disturbance in the 0.5 to 1 km of overlying sediments. Magnetic anomaly analysis suggests present left-lateral strike slip motion of about 3 cm/yr, with convergence at the margin being more rapid to the south than to the north of the fault zone. Because of rapidly changing spreading parameters on the Explorer and Juan de Fuca ridges over the past 5 Myr the Nootka fault zone has had a very complex history.  相似文献

Images of Comet West in atomic hydrogen (1216 Å) emission were obtained from a sounding rocket on 1976 March 5.5 (R = 0.38 AU). The hydrogen production rate derived from the fit of a simple radial-outflow model to the observed inner isophotes was 3.2 × 1030 atoms/sec. The outer isophotes did not fit the predictions of the complex dynamic model of Keller and Meier, partly because of optical depth effects, but also because the nucleus was breaking up at about this time and it is quite possible that additional hydrogen was being emitted from smaller chunks of the nucleus distributed along the orbit. The above production rate, taken with data on C and O obtained simultaneously by Feldman and Brune, gives QH: Qo: Qc = 8:3.5:1. For Comet Kohoutek we obtained the ratio 7:1.7:1. The difference, if real, may be due to minor differences in composition or evolution, but in any case it appears that the two comets are similar.  相似文献
